@nomadicfanatic

And I don't intend on saying "all truckers"... that's why I just point out the hilariousness of what "some" truckers do in regards to RVs. I treat you all with respect and give you the road. Give you the parking spaces too. I didn't go mock the guy and ask him why he can't read.... I just shared his actions because (unfortunately) this is becoming commonplace. But thank you for reminding me that not all truckers are the same!

I can't control that kind of stuff on my end actually. Sometimes you won't see ads all month. Then next month my video has ads half way though. It's the ONLY way I can make any money and pay my bills, keep gas in the tank, and pay for the places I share. So, I hope we can find a compromise.

That wooden tank was used with a STEAM ENGINE. I know you're not a railroad buff, but steam engines need to be refilled with water. These tanks were located along every rail line at intervals for train stops and services. Usually at station stops in towns, but in the midwest and other places they could in the middle of nowhere. They needed water according to the miles traveled. Steam engines used wood first, then coal, and finally used fuel oil to burn in the firebox to make the heat to boil the water to make steam. I'm sure you know some of this, but just a review. Trains and railroading is very interesting. If you haven't riden a steam engine powered train, you should try it. If you have never traveled by train, it would be a great experience. Safe travels. Oh, toucan ride a steam train at some of the amusement parks such as Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. and Knott's Berry Farm in Calif. and a new Train in Gettysburg, PA . Actually it's near Gettysburg at New Freedom, PA. Safe travels ! Say "Hi" to Jax !

That is a railroad water tower. It is used to fill the tender's water tank in as short a time as possible. Don't want to delay the train. There were once many of these on every train line. Steam trains use as much or more water than fuel.

As a semi drive who parks next to them I’m used to the sound , but the only reason your freezer is stocked is because semi trucks brought it to the stores 💪
@proudamericantrucker8266
@proudamericantrucker8266 5 лет назад
Speaking on behalf of the truck driver, he may have had to stop because Federal regulations may have required him to. We are required to take at least 1/2 hour break per day. Or perhaps he had to use the restroom. It's not easy for truckers to get their rigs in and out of places like RVS and cars of much smaller sizes. So when the opportunity arises for a pit stop, most of us will grab that opportunity.
@nomadicfanatic
@nomadicfanatic 5 лет назад
Federal regulations still means he can park 300 feet ahead in the designated "truck parking" instead of the posted "RV parking only" section while the semi front blocks part of the road..... If Professional drivers can read, they should be able to be less of an a-hole. You don't have to pay a lot - you just gotta pay attention.

Cleaning up bullet casings can be a profitable hobby as yellow brass is currently around $1.20 per pound at a scrap yard. Empty shotgun shells can be a pain depending on the yards rules as some want them with the plastic and some want just the brass so check with them on how they want it to max the per pound payment.

I used to live by Fillmore in Southern California and there was this back road that you could take to Somis. I drove everyday to work. In the canyon below was a pile of cars and I mean a huge pile of cars. The road was treacherous and narrow and windy. It was formerly a wagon trail and because it was in this rocky old canyon they really could not widen the road much. So many cars went over, but the main thing people did was dump vehicles there. It was a graveyard of cars. That old road eventually washed out. Last I know before I moved back to Northern California years ago was that road was still washed out.

True boondocking freedom in a "CLASS A" for sure. If there ever is a Zombie apocalypse, I hope you're near us. LOL! hint..hint... Those old cars are creepy. Maybe that's where Norman Bates dumped some of his guests cars. LOL! Awesome time-lapse BTW. Glad nobody came into the area and was loud. That wind turbine blade is massive! Yes, Black first, and Gray second, but you shouldn't have both valves open at the same time. Let the Black finish, close the black valve and then open the gray valve to push all the solids out of the dump hose. FYI, the Colorado river and the Arkansas rivers are on opposite sides of the continental divide, they don't meet.

Try boon docking in a tractor/trailer.. I do it all the time. However It can be a challenge but you just have to look harder. One of my favorite places are the DOT gravel storage areas beside state highways. You can be pretty confident that no one else will destroy your serenity by parking right next to you with their generator or engine idling -- on a 60 degree night.

I overnighted in Lamar CO both coming and going on my trip to Colorado. Nice little town. Huge surplus military vehicle depot there. Thanks for the tip on cheap propane.

I lived in SW Kansas a few miles from where you filmed the last few days. We always went to the towns East of Johnson when we needed a bigger town. I think I really missed out on some interesting places. Thanks for the tour!

The Arkansas River flows east and starts on the eastern side of the Continental Divide. The Colorado River flows southwest and starts on the western side of the Continental Divide. Therefore they do not connect.

Have you used your central heat yet? Now is the time to test and figure out gas and power consumption. Not when you are going into winter.
