Arken Optics New LH-4. Can you actually hunt with it? Discussion of field use. 

I hope so , I just bought one last week .. it is now mounted on a Weatherby Vanguard Sporter, 7mm REM mag . I need to sight in, chronograph the rounds I will use, compose a drop and drift table . It will be ready for deer, elk, pigs, bears, and foreign infantry .

That's the beauty of a first focal plane scope.If you can't see it turn it up just a notch it'll make a difference.

Didn't mention turning on the illumination that does light up the center crossing.. that could help as well. It is a FFP optic geared for more longer range hunting.

It’s a hunting scope. It’s less expensive. It has capped turrets thus not having zero stop turrets is pretty normal. Most hunting scopes DON’T have zero stop reticles because you’re hunting with them not precision rifle shooting so why should that be a negative?

Whitetail hunting since, ok aging myself, forever and I was a 1975 high school graduate. Iron sights and a marlin. When scopes got involved it’s easy peasy!!!! (I’m going to harvest the animal) Crank up the the zoom voila!! Geez 🤔. Why use the lowest magnification when harvesting???🤔🤔🤔. Why buy a 3x9 scope and use it on 3 at 100 yds. Anyway. It’s a hunting scope , regardless of the reticle. If you shooting venison at really long, distances just KNOW your setup! Then feed the family. Yummy healthy!!

I use mine from 6-10 power and it works great.

Re reticle at 4x, if you turn the illumination on shouldn't that increase the low power use ability of the center cross hairs, even under low light?

for the lower power, couldnt you just use the illumination at the 4x? to see the crosshairs?

What’s the weight on it. On Arkens website the 4-16x44 is listed as 24.45oz I actually don’t think this is correct as the bigger 6-24x50 is listed as 22.58oz. I’m trying to find a scope under 20oz is why I ask. Not a huge fan of my vortex diamondback and own a couple other arkens on my long range guns but I hike a lot hunting up steep terrain so the less weight the better

If you hunt in the woods or less than 200 yards sfp is the way to go imo

Wow these people are ridiculous, the point is for the reticle to be easier at further distance. Are you telling me you really need to see the dot at 4x at 22 yards, if you cant throw up and hit a deer at 22 yards just seeing 2 lines intersect you dont need to be hunting 🤦

Would you recommend this for a ruger 10/22 rifle for plinking???

.....you can hunt with a 19.99 tasco bb gun scope, would I? No not unless I was just beginning perhaps I'm saying yes any scope can be used for hunting 🙄

Will the reticle dim enough for low light shooting?

I'm not a big fan of the center dot being hard to see with my old eyes. I prefer a duplex type crosshairs.
