There's a couple of neat card interactions I'd like to point out when it comes to Stella. First, with Stella you will sometimes take tests specifically to fail them. One great example of that is Track Shoes - after you move, that lets you do a test and move again if you succeed. Often you only need the one move, but with Stella you can try the test and get a bonus action. And you can use Drawing Thin to get rich and ensure that you do fail that test - that card lets you increase a test's difficulty and get resources or cards for doing so. Great if you want to fail. Second is her signature card - I know it says "cancel all effects of the failed test", but this isn't just a constant ability that is active while the card is committed; this is an ability that you activate, and if a skill test has multiple effects you choose their timing. So if you have multiple effects that happen when you fail and you want to do some of them, you can choose to resolve those first and then resolve NRNS and cancel the rest.

You can't have the raven take the horror from its own ability unfortunately as the discard and the take 1 horror happen at the same time. It would be an alright card if it weren't for that.

Played Stella in our Dunwich campaign. Loads of fun.

Any thoughts on two starter decks (Stella & Winnifred?) vs. new Dunwich Legacy Investigator Expansion vs. old Dunwich boxset w/o mythos packs? Something else? I assume these are all roughly the same price. We just have one old core. :(

Wini is a bit more difficult to play than Stella imo; her investigator ability is less immediately useful than a lot of the investigators in the Dunwich Investigator expansion. I'd recommend grabbing the Investigator Expansion since it has a set of good investigators and a variety of new, very useful player cards!

Stella is a very easy to play and somewhat overpowered investigator. Wini is fun and good, but not as easy. The Dunwich investigator set is solid - Zoey is a very attack focused Guardian, Rex is a top tier Seeker, and Ashcan Pete is a very fun Survivor. Jenny is a bit boring as a Rogue, but is very straightforward and easy to understand. Jim is a flop unfortunately for the Mystic class. That said, Dunwich has many almost critical cards for deckbuilding and will give you many good options, so I strongly recommend it over two investigator decks. Dunwich campaign feels a bit aged now, but if you’ve only played core campaign it is still solid. After core, I’d recommend either Dunwich or Edge of the Earth as your 2nd campaign to play.

@@Officegamecafe Thanks! I'm not sure we'll ever do a full campaign, so I was thinking of just going with Excelsior Hotel and want enough investigator cards to try the five archetypes. No need for min-maxing decks or prepping for a lifestyle game collection. Am I right that each scenario about 60-90 minutes and a campaign has 8?

@@jonathanfranklin461 That's correct, though some of the campaigns play around a little with how many you get and how long they are!

I'd recommend new dunwhich expansion, both investigator and campaign. Dunwich is excellent for staple cards, and you need some new missions to try them out on. I'd also recommend buying the starter decks for your two favorite classes.

Stella seems a great character, I can see how she would be very interesting to play. Who is your favourite character from that set then?

This is such a "Twitter-bait" character, it's hilarious. Great review as always, Zee.

My favorite from this set. Stella has some really really awesome deck building possibilities if you think about things in a different way. She is very strong and awesome. Also good to see some Transgender representation in Arkham games.
