I own and very much enjoy Case #1, and quite agree with Zee's review here on all points except theme: while each card does sort of make sense thematically (characters all have the "conversation" icon to progress, Mythos-related cards usually give you the more rare clue icons, and so on), once you start the game it really comes down to an icon matching exercise. It's a very engaging puzzle, but you have to concentrate so much into managing the card combinations themselves, that there is no room for the underlying theme to come through. I'm not sure about picking this one up, there seems to be very minor differences from the first one. A very good system anyway, certainly one of my favourite solitaires.
06:02 i think there is a mistake. You don't need a key symbol on an already played card to play a card with a puzzle piece on it. You need a key symbol only to play a card with a lock symbol.
I needed to read the rule sheet about 6 times, cause my brain stucked in the idea of solving cases....not symbol fitting puzzles. But after releasing that knot the game isn't that hard to understand. But it's very thinky.
Good God, Zee couldn't show graphics of all the symbols, or at least enlarged symbols? He's banging on about this symbol here, and you can't even see it. Something looked like a gun - he couldn't call it a gun? I think this was poorly explained.
@@WokeBegone The symbols on the sides of the cards represent Investigation techniques (interviewing, reading, inspection) and the symbols on the top of each card represent types of evidence (think Clue). What the symbols represent isn't really all that important to the actual game play, just the theme, which is pretty much what the name implies, a Lovecraftian detective story. It's worth checking out if you are looking for a solo puzzle card game.
