They said Lone Trail was the turning point for Arknights, the bar-setter for future content. Does it live up to the hype? #arknights #RhodesExplorerPlan
That Saria quote echoed so well: "A real pioneer should be clearing the way for humanity. Not jumping headfirst in the abyss, never to return." It grasps at the straws of this endeavor to reach sublime heights at the cost of losing oneself. I could only imagine how many more people would have not skipped the story if it was voice acted, but that itself would probably be technically laboring on the development and such. Love your videos 👍
the voice acting wont be laboruos during the dev process, it should be easy to just sync it the real reason it wasnt voice is because of space... Audio takes up a lot of space, especially if it means they have to make EN,CN,JP versions of it. And this is a mobile game... so its a space saving decision. and considering how looooong each cutscene is, that would eat up a lot of storage for your phone... Nikke was fine with making their main story voiced because each cutscene takes only 5 minutes MAX to read.
@@TomoyaOkazaki13 You also need to consider the cost of hiring the voice actors in the first place to do the lines. There's a lot of stuffs to voice just in one Side Story.
It's so true, I tried to read everything, but honestly after the second stage it was way too long so I skipped everything... I don't think a VA would change anything, there no dynamics in the dialogue people would get "bored" in the end
1:50 what makes this funnier is that one of the writers for Baldur’s Gate 3 tweeted and praised the Lone Trail event. Saying how the story hit the “NASA-punk” themes 100 times better than Starfield.
@@WhyvernReinforcements They privated their account after the Tweet, but it was “Ivory” or “DeathMeetAuthor”. A reddit post with a screenshot about it should still exist tho.
As someone who has NEVER skipped a single bit of dialogue in this game, this story was as gripping as it was long as fuck and draining my will to live. 10/10
7:44 “Aeon” is one of those words that TECHNICALLY has a definition (1 billion years), but you shouldn’t take literally. It’s kinda like the word “jiffy” which just meant “a really short amount of time” but now technically has a numerical time value. Use of the term “aeon” in this story should just be meant to mean “an indeterminately long amount of time” and with the context of details from the story, it has to mean at least over 1000 years, but does not necessarily need to mean as high as 1 billion.
LoneTrail is up there with LB6 from FGO inmy collection of "Peak Fiction", it's refreshing to see that a side story revolving around a girl wanting to go to space being arguably better than other gachas and their "Let's save the Origin Core of the Universe" kind of overhyped scenarios, let's keep it relatively down to earth here in AK. Goodnight Terra, Goodnight Universe.
What an insane coincidence to see someone mention Lone Trail and lB6 together. I was just thinking today about how Lone Trail lobby theme + Control's wish and LB6 map theme always makes me tear up whenever I hear them. I have always never understood when people talk about Music deeply but the surreal experience Lone Trail and LB6 music gave me makes me finally understand. Just the first few seconds of these music send my body shivers. I will never forget LT and LB6.
@@valhallakombi7239 yeah, I wish FGO could have a feature that lets you change the maps look to how they development in their main story, I was truly left speechless when I was just sitting there in the void after LB6 was done like "This really happened eh? Damn". Funny how in the LB trailer they advertise LB6 as "The round Table domain" and "The moment a planet is born" (it was LB6 right?) While in reality we just see everything literally going to hell, from having the map in a state of war to having the whole map burning in fire to them having the map crumbled to pieces and being absorbed by a giant Eldritch Fly to finally literally having nothing but a black screen as a map I can confidently say that LoneTrail and LB6 gave me the same feeling as when you finish a long anime, there is a sense of loss and wonder about what to do now xD
The best part about confronting Loken is the the Doctor canonically pulls an Ash and hauls off and punches his gob. BEST but Thou Must Choice of the game so far, only rivaled by the awkward silence at the end of Break the Ice.
This story event was even praised by Baldurs Gate 3 author... and it shows how great this story event was written. So many good good points in the story, like Doctah beating up Loken, Dancing with Mumu, Saria vs Kristen, Doktah confrontation with Preserver who tell us more about Doktah mysterious past. Turns out Preserver come from a time when there was no "Animal humans". Kristen going to space and beyond and finally when Doctah went to save Muelseye from her drying out
@@mn7306 me neither. I am avoiding games that have 100 hours of gameplay as I know I don't have time to finish it. But from what I heard it has alot of small sidestories that are good though
This story hit the bar high. Higher than Chapter 8’s climatic battle with Kaschey. So much have we learned about Doktor’s past, even Kal’tsit’s. The fact there’s a false sky gives us so many questions, like what entity put it there? What is the purpose of said sky? How far will Terran’s go until the events of Endfield show up? Is this event the beginning of the end of Arknight’s story? So many questions waiting for the answers I’m sure we will get. After all that though, I will say this: Kristen, shine on you crazy diamond. Shine on.
There's still a LOOOOOT more to cover in the story, so the beginning of the end is a bit early, its probably better to say a new season of thr story Heres the things we learnt/more questions The sky, the heck is up with that (My guy didn't cover this in the video but ill say it) the Aegir, aka sea people, they are moving and are dangerous The void up further in the north Priestess The sky is open for a while now.... Whats that gonna do? The moment when the Black Crown will not belong only to Amiya anymore
The lore for Lone Trail was great to read but there were quite a few typos and grammatical errors. Arknights' story is so vast I feel like Hypergryph's own translation and localisation teams have difficulties releasing it to global.
Got so mad that Kristen did all of this but doesn't leave any data back on Terra. Proceed to record all of it despite having the military right on his tail. Just like Saria said, he talk big but he knows when to back it up.
@@tweetug3697honestly forgot that he's actually a scientist too. I just thought he just ran the energy division as Mr.Burns does his nuclear power plant
This was a great summary. The story was so captivating I managed to blast through all of it in just a day and honestly I hope they keep up this level of writing in the future.... Although maybe hire a better localization team, cause there were a ton of small grammatical errors littered throughout the whole event.
Lonetrail is definitely the best introduction for a space journey and it definitely has so much importance to the lore that i can't believe it's not part of the main story
in Geology Time Scale, Eons is measured in hunderd million to billion of years there only 4 eons in earth history. we are in the current - 4th Eons which start around 538 million of years ago - started at Cambrian explosion event : where every modern animal ancestor was born I mean if current Lifeform is extinct and another Originium and Furies based lifeform appear - the time period would be qualified to be called as new eons
The eyeball god thing says how many *days* of recorded memory it had. I did the math at the time and I think it was around 14K years. Either way, he old as dirt considering real life humanity only started civilization around 5500 years ago.
Correction. Ho'olheyak says that entering Maylander's history section and gaining tin man's trust used up 6 (3+3) years of her life, which is 1/7 of HER ENTIRE LIFE according to her (being a mythical creature destined to die a premature death). So she CAN LIVE UP TO 42 YEARS, she is not CURRENTLY 42, hence tin man saying "then it's best you don't waste the remaining years behind bars or on the run".
"-- In fact, their Elder lifespans are still longer than most people, even halved. --" - Warfarin, Ho'ol's Archive File 3 ...42 years would be a _very_ low bar there indeed.
@@edgieststalker8141 That would be the obvious implication, yes. Not to mention that it's pretty patent nonsense that she'd somehow know _exactly_ how long she's going to live, which is what OP basically claims, whereas how long she _has_ lived already is kind of a no-brainer. Occam's Razor and all that.
I'm gonna have to come back to this video later on since I wanted to read the story myself. So far every story with Rhine:Labs and their operators has been pretty banger.
@@fisheyes9744 Blues with You: debuted at the end of the 4th Anniversary Stream where Lone Trail was announced ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IctpfaVYU-E.htmlsi=w1pRHtnN_x-GcIq5
yeah no enough of the playerbase pity the Yostar translators having to translate every single arknights event. Wait,... maybe the delays are more reasonable than it first appears... Also, rosmontis being a chad, ignores the clown's blabbering narcissistic nonsense, watch him dies, and proceed to just forget him immediately.
People usually clown on the Yostar translators, sometimes with good reasons but I think the average people forget how such a pain it is to translate something from another language to another language and make sure the meaning stay intact, not just push it into an auto-translator and call it a day. And the average Arknights Side Story is already pretty long, even more so when its an anniversary event like Lonetrail.
Imo, the localization team should start playing it looser and faster. Instead of painstakingly describing every minute detail in the DRIEST, most verbose language possible, try to interpret the Chinese original message into a more natural English wording. As it is right now, every event story feels like swallowing a handful of sand with every line. An example of successful localization would be the MGS series, especially MGS5. It's a free form, FPS, like so many COD and MW, but the dialogue and translation feel natural to English speakers while still retaining the calm, restrained Japanese touch. It felt like a treat to experience instead of a torture to grin and bear.
@tempota7792 I dunno, MGS had some lines that really clunk out because they were too faithful to the Japanese, like "You can't change your fate but you can rise to meet your destiny" which is one of those Japanese symmetrical sentences screwed over by the schoolteacher "it's bad to use the same word twice" rule.
Parvis entered cyber space, just like SwordArtOnline's villain, that game developer, I'm sure we will see him again, maybe as boss lol.. there's a lot of mad scientiest in the story, but Kristen is not, her dream/vision doesn't endanger anyone, I got mad respect for that (hope she will become Operator in future, Rhine Lab's story is far from over, there's so many loose ends, and she didn't die, she slept in Life-Support pod, which uses lost-technology : Doctor's technology, that can go on over tens of thousands of years, I'm sure it will only take few years for rescue-mission to launch, with Ferdinan's help).. AMa-10, I'm pretty sure its automaton or something, machine huh.. anyway, good summary video man! less than 10 minutes, is cool
Although i am quite busy i take time in reading the story and Lone Trail is easily the best side story in my history of reading bloated dialogues and shit ton of lore and other unimportant small details. Im whaling so they make lone trail and other prior side stories etc animated, i mean they're the one started it and even got into S2 that covers up to ch 6 so they're getting my hopes up meaning they are going to make more right (the hopium is strong)
I would read this and possibly other in a novel format. Reading it in-game is not my cup of tea. I enjoy the semi-serious video, looking forward to more!
@@greggasm format and presentation matters. a good 2 hour movie divided into 4 chunks doesn't automatically make for a good 4part tv special and vice versa
First thing they need to do is stop directly translating from Chinese. The eloquence and articulation is completely lost in translation between CN and EN, turning it into a giant ungainly mess. It makes every event insufferable to read through.
Still an average length of a novel. I'd imagine they made Lone Trail a legit novel instead of visual novel and they must describe every single action as accurate and detailed as possible. 💀💀
@@HellecticMojo at least your can sleep well after reading it. yeah ch7 it's pretty bad, reunion arc probably the weakest arknights story in my opinion
Fantastic idea focusing more on the characters & their development in the story. Honestly, I'd be more about them than the world around them. Good stuff 👍
Hey bro well done, it was beyond fun to watch 👌 But unfortunately I think u mad a line in which I prefer to c same amount of cool video from u from now on. Keep up the good work 💪
If y'all had to bet on a event that would beat or be in the same level as Lonetrail which one would you pick? In my opinion il Siracusano part 2 has a lotta potential like Lappland alter, more CrownSlayer and Projekt Red lore and maybe a hook for a future S.W.E.E.P event
I never thought tin man was a revenant. Mostly because he seems to have a single personality and not multiple. Maybe, i never reach chap 12 to see the airship revenant there so who know
Plenty, but you won't understand it so it doesn't really matter when you see it. "Titanic sinks and Jack freezes to death" "...wth is the Titanic? Who's Jack?" is the type of reaction you'll have.
It does open up a huge can of worms regarding the Dokutah and Kal'tsit's back stories, plus revealing a new truth of the world. Still dunno whats with Chinese gachas' compulsive obsession with fking fake skies though.
Hello I have nothing to say since I don't read the event myself obviously I don't know how accurate/well it represents the story but I can say that it's very funny thanks
I think the tree survived in the end, Kristine said that the reading was broken the moment it went off gravity so the reading is not accurate at all Mumu didn't get the right answer and now she will have to theorize things with a wrong factor.
