I too love Sandy Oh. She has a lot of the same talent for physical comedy Lucile Ball did. I think Arliss was under rated. I too have the 2 DVD set and I like it, except they took out the Dusty Springfield theme music at the beginning. I miss that. I always associated that song with Arliss.
I used to hate Arliss because it was about sports and i wasn't particularly into sports in my youth. But as i got Older, I began to realize, the show is freaking hilarious! They do need to release a DVD set!
There was this scene where she is about to make love with a Spanish golfer it’s more than worthy of RU-vid the Spaniard was real smooth and Rita was pretty much swept off her feet but the its also really funny bc of both actors playing up the scene the Latin lover role and the mesmerized maiden that they make light of such a corny and unrealistic fantasy is pure genius of the writing and acting talent
One other thing, Carlithiel (and every other S.O. fan) - Let's all keep bombing the HBO website and requesting the COMPLETE SET of ArliSS on DVD's - Maybe they'll get sick of us and release it just to shut us up...
@Carlithiel The hottest ep would be the one where Rita gets a nasty writer's cramp from doing the boss's signature on a heap of invitations. Cheapskate Arliss sends her to a physical therapist friend of his who works as a high-school gym teacher between professional team gigs. He massages Rita's knots away and they fall for each other. Unfortunately, he gets called away to his dream job with a major team a few days later. They have great red-hot goodbye sex but it still feels achingly sad.
@Carlithiel The best moments on the show were the poignant ones. My favorite is the "Slump-buster" episode where Kirby Carlisle finds out the single mom of the rising teenage triathlete he's managing was the fat chick he banged in a meaningless one-night stand eighteen years earlier to get out of his romantic slump and the girl is his daughter. That one made me cry.
@Carlithiel Why did everyone love to hate ArliSS anyway? I thought maybe the idea of a sports agent representing athletes from ballplayers to golfers to jockeys to team mascots may have been far-fetched, but what do I know?
