This over hook arm wrap guard position has been a favorite of mine for years. So many great options, from chokes to sweeps to arm locks. This sequence is a great one and the slot machine Americana at the end is a gem.
I'm a blue belt and had to run a class the other day because my professor couldn't make it. I showed this grip break to arm wrap with the choke and armbar. I will definitely be adding that modified Americana to my toolbox. Love all your videos and my go to channel for everything BJJ. Thank you professor!
It's dope because at our gym we take that left arm across then reach over the shoulder to try and take the back honestly I'm explaining it like shit but it was still dope
Can you explore something I do from this set up? After you have their right arm wrapped, sneak your right knee inside their left arm, throw your right leg over their head, feed your right hand under their chin on the inside of your thigh then grab your shin and compress. I hope I've explained that well enough but I've not seen any vids on this kind of choke and wither or not theirs a better application for it. Great content as per usual!
Imagine just chilling in a guy's guard as he is doing all this. Watch the old kosen judo videos floating around RU-vid and you will be a monster at attack someone on their back.
I use this choke all the time on bigger guys while they are trying to pass to half guard, if it fails I normally for for armbar on the other arm or omaplata
There is a faster submission from this position. Opponents right arm is out of the fight because overhook. Now set the trap so he extends his left arm. Once he brings that left arm across the chest or away from hisbody trap that left arm with the lepel hand (your left) then pin or lock with your free hand (your right). One of his arms is over hooked. the other is held at elbow with your left overhooking arm. Keep your left elbow pinned tight pulling to your body to keep the overhook and dont let go of the right elbow. Now with your free right hand grab his wrist on his free arm that you have trapped at the elbow. Throw your right leg across his face an pull into armbar. I think its quicker 🤔 than walking up his back with your legs And maybe a little tighter. I like the key lock though.
I would not recommend the cross grip on the collar as the guy on top only needs to hand to hand beside the head of the guy on the floor to five him a mad wrist lock. I actually love the wrist lock from there
Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question, what does the bluebar mean on your belt? All the black belts I've been around have either a white or red bar.
Public competitions…it’s a sport move. Not a self defense move, if that’s what you’re meaning. This wouldn’t be applicable to a street fight or anything.
This is why I don't like gis. If you can't do it without grabbing clothes I think its only good for competition not real life. However much of it can be adapted to no gi.
@@tykukenielsen6210 ahhh got one haha. Ok look at how thick your gi material is especially around the collers.... so that's one discrepancy as most clothes won't give you that grip. Also the actual design of his are loose and flowing and easy to grab. Case in point no no Gi is more practical.
@@MrDeano-eu9rg in your original comment you mentioned thta it is only good for competition and not real life, which I was refferring to. But I get some of what youre saying but disagree with some
