This is a contracted video I created for BIS, aimed at giving some basic tips about working as a team in multiplayer for people new to the series. It was originally released on April 26th, 2013 on the BIS A3 channel.

I had a guy run in front of my gun while i was shooting and I still said sorry, he kept calling votes for me to be kicked. Some people are just annoying.

These videos are awesome. Arma's relentless commitment to realism was what initially piqued my interest in the series, a strong emphasis on tactical precision is a welcome change of pace from the more action oriented military shooters. That, coupled with the very active and prolific modding community (DayZ sucka!), Mission Editor and a completely open world makes this the coolest game I've never played. Now I just need a PC that can keep up...

All of this is usually covered once you get into a serious ArmA group. And it is done differently whether you play in the US or the rest of the world. I tried to pick up all the tricks from dslyecxi's grunt manual and then had to relearn a lot of stuff when I joined up with a mostly British group. All of this obviously clashed with my own personal experience in the (Danish) army. So yeah, it's best to keep it simple and then expand on training once in a group.

hey , great vids. I am new to Arma and am wondering if there are any 2 player coop maps i can try to hone my skills before i jump on a server? and if not do you have any suggestions on where i should start playing. I have to say i am very excited to start learning the different aspects of this game because it is so much more then i thought possible in a video game !!! cheers

i noticed there are new softer shadows for the environment. are these gonna be used for the character shadows in future insted of the contemporary blocky ones as well? nice video anyway. although ive seen it before. do you upload the same videos again?

Something I quite often use when it comes to giving orders is CLAP which means Clear Loud As an order and with Pauses. Saying this to yourself before giving an order is good to remind you how to give an order. There is another abbreviation called GRIT which means Group, Range, Indication, Type of Fire, which is also useful to learn. Also when giving contact details do you go into fire type, E.g 'Rapid Fire, Ripple, Delayed, etc'? Or do you not go that in depth with your fire control orders.

Yo! I just saw this and thought that it was really good, though primarily a lone wolf makes things significantly harder for me since I'm not much of a clan person, what can you say to help us stragglers who end up alone more than with others?

+Hiniberus If you're more of a lone wolf type of person, I would advise carefully assessing the enemy, making your first move count, [taking down as many enemies as possible while you retain the element of surprise, and above all, just don't be seen. if the enemy can't see you, they can't shoot you, and you will have the advantage when you shoot first and they didn't even know you are there, until they're wounded or already dead.

Can you do a tutorial on how to speak? When do I say what? "Copy that", "Rodger", or in a Choper "Inbound" "turning hot" and there is many more. Can't find any explanations on google - maybe because english is not my main language and I dont know exactly what I should search.

He was referring to Dslyecxi's famous ArmA guide TTP (Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures). You can find it on the Shack Tac website, it's a good read if you really want to learn how to be successful in ArmA. Just be warned it's not light reading.

can you please explain what servers to play on? there are like 3 servers with more than 5 people online and they all use that boring domination map for 40 people there's always that guy griefing at the spawn, 10 people staying afk at the spawn and 5 people just running around dying\shooting

Stepping around corners on your left side. If you are holding the gun on the left shoulder you have to expose less to aim with it.

I was wondering what mod did you use to switch to the Rangefinder without slinging your weapon on the back at 1:22? I've looked it out a lot and don't seem to find anything. I also have most STUI mods, but i cant find it there either... :{

There are some public servers that are decently organized. The biggest hurdle is that the majority of players aren't equipped with the knowledge to be this tactically cohesive. Its hard to do this without having played this way a lot, and preferably with the same people so you can know the specific methods people know and prefer. Arma 2 is pretty healthy for this kind of play publically, though nothing beats organized closed communities. Arma 3 will develop this more and more once its released.

Dslyecxi has ARMA 3 ALPHA been making any progress lately ? I haven't heard anything from the producers or anyone really in a while now which worries me as I loved Arma 2, and I just have such an High hopes for ARMA 3 when released. Has any mechanics / physics / animations and other general stuff been improved ? A.I. behavour and such? The usual. Turn off post process effects, defrag your harddrive. If you have a lot of RAM you can make a RAM drive to speed up texture loading. FPS is sometimes low on servers even if you've got a high end machine.

Great video. One thing though, I hope I never see you and ShackTac on Stratis. I probably won't even hear the shot but still....knowing you lot are mostly a few thousand miles of ping away helps me sleep.

Hey hey, I didn't mean to offend anyone. Even if you had security on your six, you could still have your number 3 or number 4 man watch a different direction. No sense in two people looking the same way. We can agree on that right?
