If you go back to World War Z (the book) small arms turned out to be way they defeated larger hordes. If i remember it was more of an enormous square infantry formation with ranks for reloading the lines and a forward element of canines to distract and separate the zombies. Theres the battle of yonkers early on where they open up on a horde with bombs and armor only to completely obscure the field and incendiary effects dont mean much to zombies. I suppose open plains terrain does tend to favor armor if the horde has a main focal approach.

If you mean the red things those are tracers. Their a type of ammunition that can be seen once fired. So you can track where your bullet goes.

Perhaps the M1 Abrams can use flechette rounds since they are primarily fighting zombies only. But I believe the shrapnel from the Bradleys bushmaster should take out the zombies.
