Two years ago this would have really excited me but sadly, none of my friends now play Armada any more and have all moved on to other games. We all have huge fleets but the lack of new fleets coming out just seemed to kill our club. Oh well, hope you guys enjoy all the new stuff nonetheless.
That's a good informative video, thanks. The only other thing I would've wanted to see is a new-player-friendly comparison of the two Clone Wars factions, to be a really complete buying guide. A breakdown of their strengths and weaknesses would be great for players not familiar enough with Armada already to get that from cards and unboxings alone.
Just a helpful price of info for new comers trying to get to a point to play a 400 point game. With a starter and one squad pack it is possible to put together a fleet for a 400 point game. You will be running max squads and probably have a 10-15 pint bid to choose first or second player but it's possible. An upgrade card pack will increase your options. So for $150 retail you can play a 400 point game with limited variation in your fleet composition.
Came here to say this. I've found (and I have upgrades from previous waves) that a core set and squadron pack were enough to get me to 400 points. There's not a lot of variety to this though, and so I don't think it's entirely wrong to recommend two starter packs. Just a lot of monies.
@@almightypip Yeah there's not many ways to build to hit 400, 300 would probably be more fun. I enjoyed 300 points back in the early days of armada. It would be a shame to buy two core sets considering most people will not be playing in organized tournaments until the pandemic is over. If you are just playing at home w/ friends and family it's better to do 300 points and wait for the second wave.
Thank you so much for this video. As a newb to Armada, this clarified a lot and I will be getting into this with these new factions. I appreciate the time you took to make the video. Cheers
I just found the clone starter on sale. There are three of us that are starting to play. I was yhinking of combining the Clones and seperatists into a "pirate" faction giving them the Quasar, Gauntle fighters and bounty hunter fighters form the Empire and the Hammerhead Corvettes, Scurrg and Lancer from the Rebels. Thank you for your videos, your enthusiasm is a great boost to any day.
I really like the design ethos of separating core components from expansion packs, I hope this trend continues in X-Wing too. It would be nice to have a token pack and stop putting tokens in every single expansion.
My buddy and I each bought one of each starter, two squadron packs for each faction, and a card upgrade pack. We're just going to combine our stuff when we play to fill out 400 points. I feel that the dial packs are useless if you buy two starters as you're going to have more than enough movement and speed dials.
Just dropped a question on your CIS unboxing about how many starter should I buy and then this video dropped this morning. Thank you so much, as a new player this video was super helpful!
I really like Armada but sadly I can't afford it, because it's too expensive. 100 bucks is a lot, espacially considering you'll likely need squadron packs and upgrade cards as well.
Checkout miniature market, gamenerdz, and cool stuff inc. You can get stuff at a discount. One starter and a single squad pack can make a 400 pt casual list easy.
@@J.B.90 Unfortunately I live in Germany. And over time that's still a lot of money I don’t have for a hobby. And I don’t have many people to play with neither.
“Hello there, I’m giving away a Republic Starter Set, the winner is Joshua Schroeder”. :P I just acquired my first X-Wing series 2.0 starter kit, Would love to get an Armada Starter.
For now, I'm sticking with one each of the starter packs and squadrons...I expect that when the next waves come out, I'll get probably two of each other ship, and will be able to then fill out a full list. I'm not likely to be playing Armada anytime soon easily...they're steep in prince, these starters, so that's how I'm going to play it for now.
My preorders still haven't shipped yet😢 but I can't wait. My LGS was limited to 3 copies of everything and they distributed them the order they got the preorders. I was #3 but guy ahead of me order 2 of everything
K veteran words here I have played Armada since 2016 and Honestly all the clone wars content is very nice but for the first time I didn't have the same excitement and joy I usually have when I open an Armada order one of the main reasons being that half of the components are useless to me and I don't like the new cards format and will use resized reprint so I only need the ships, squad and stand) . I think FFG missed a great opportunity to make an essential kit and individual release. Even for new players getting ships to make a 400pts fleet or have enough dice will cost them at least 2 starters.
All of the ships that came with the original Armada set are for sale individually. I don t see them. not being available eventually but hey its going to be a question of stock. Hopefully AMG fixes this past issue.
I think 2 core is fine because it lets you play 800-point games. Now 3 seems like a lot to me since soon we already know that more ships are leaving and you have to leave money for those purchases too.
I do hope they get separate stuff, because I do want multoples of the aclamator and the munificent. Which is posible it happen, they did it with the starter set.
Now that AMG has officially killed my love of X-Wing I find myself exploring other options now. I've always been interested in Armada but I never pulled the trigger. How well balanced is the game? I know that no game exists that is perfectly balanced but what is the state of Armada? Is the game in a solid place that you'd recommend someone to get into it at this time? Thanks for the video, this really got me wanting to buy the Galactic Republic box. Anyways, Happy Gaming!!
Hi in this video you mentioned getting 3 or 4 squadron pack for the hyena bomber. Can you give an example for a good 6-8 hyena squadron build for the separatists. I would like to know how i will make one work for me. I have al the expansions twice exept the starter pack. And now i am thinking about buying extra squadron packs for a hyena build but cant find a good example on internet.
There are a few things that are not clear for me. You said a lot of reasons about why buying the starters. But, wich one is the best (playing it, and only with what it comes with the starter) ? Is it better to start the game buying one one starter for two people or buying the core set ? I like this content and I'm looking for starting Armada because I really enjoy playing X-Wing.
If you want to be able to field two player games for $100 get the original rebel/ imperial core set. If you can swing the $200 get a republic starter and a sepratist starter. As far as which faction to buy? Both are balanced. Get what you like more if you are only getting one of the new starters.
Thank you for this im really interesting in armada and this will be something I can use of I decide to get it. Is there a good beginners video available for me to help decide if I want to step into the game
Hey guys, I'm looking to start playing Armada for the first time. Would the Republic starter and say, a Republic squadron box, suffice as a starting point?
if you buy two starters you wont need the rebel vs empire core set because the clone wars starters come with everything for 2 factions to play agaisnt each other the original starter means a lot of sharing
I would love to know when my pre-order of upgrade card pack and Republic squadrons pack was some how sold out?!? Is this FFG underestimating demand again or due to the changes By Asmode
