The giant armadillo is native to my area and I can honestly say that I know of absolutely no poaching AT ALL. Their reason for an eventual extinction is farming destroying their habitats

I had one in the 90s - never bit, always gentle and easy to handle. I accidentally left him on the bus once, and I had to wait for the bus driver to come back on his next run, and even he was charmed by Delbert. He also got along with other lizards his size. I would enjoy having one again someday. Hope that captive breeding programs go well.

You’ve really inspired me to focus on breeding the species that are harder to come by, and not often actually bred, specifically, I plan to focus mainly on agamids, but also species like the jeweled lacerta, and now I’m considering these, currently I’m trying to find frilled dragons, but that’s been difficult so far, then again though I’m trying to make it less difficult for people in the future so I guess I shouldn’t complain. Anyways thanks for the great videos on all these animals, they help a lot!!

@@blame7121 Sadly, the city I live in doesn't allow reptiles of any kind and a "friend" had called on me because she was mad at me so all of mine got taken away. (Also the laws weren't very clear/accessible to begin with)

I live in the Karoo, South Africa and I see them not too often. Some rocky outcrops have been completey removed of them.

I really appreciate that you prioritize teaching people to be responsible and ethical with keeping and breeding reptiles. It would be great if you did a video on responsible breeding and buying from responsible breeders, maybe touching on the current controversy with spider morph (and other controversial breed) ball pythons

I love this video! I have a captive bred flame bellied armadillo lizard and no one ever knows what it is. Was definitely a spendy pet but I love how unique he is. Definately right on them not enjoying handling lol. Thanks for making this video about this uncommon pet

This video helped me alot when it comes to information. I have searched everywhere for good info on what these guys need as I have been getting dropped hints of getting getting one this Christmas so I was able to take notes on what I need and probably help my mom out on how to get one legally. I wish I knew this Channel when I had my blind baby Anole so he would still be here, very difficult to find info on what you need for some lizards. I just Thank You guys so much for making these videos so wanting reptile owners such as myself don't make mistakes!!

Oh my goodness! It reminds me of one I had called Miss Houdini! She looked almost identical to that one you have in the video. She was an escape artist, hence the name. One time she escaped her enclosure, and we have no idea how. I put sand traps across doorways and we still couldn't find her for two weeks. Luckily she was perfectly fine when we did find her. I put weights on top of her enclosure from then on and she never managed to get out again. Other than that, she was never a very exciting lizard. She liked to hide, only occasionally being caught basking, always vertically oriented. She was not a fan of being handled, despite a lot of work trying to adjust her to it. So ultimately I only handled her when cleaning and aiding her shedding issues. She's the only lizard I've had with shed issues that often. I think the fact that they are so often misidentified and not well understood (in care terms) means they're not going to be a good pet most of the time.

depends on which one i published 2 videos about the real armadillo lizard (ouroborus cataphractus) about how I did setup to keep them and another one giving some information about their natural habitat. If you are looking to keep them they are very beautiful lizards

Abronias aka Mexican Alligator Lizards are really neat too. They kinda have that dragon/armored look. I hope a video comes out on them one day

I fell in love with Armadillo lizards a few years back when I found out about them and I so desperately want some, but I dont have the experience necessary yet. Another great video Clint! For some reason RU-vid didn’t send me a notification for your video even though the bell is set to get all of them. I know you and your wife have turtles. It would be fun to see a video rating turtle species. Like stink pot vs mud turtle or painted vs pig nose or soft shell. It would be stink’ rad 😃 to learn your thoughts especially since most people don’t realize how big some of these sub species get.

I had one of these as a kid for 8 years. They dont play around when they bite. I got it when I was maybe 7 and I am 31 now. I have never seen one for sale anywhere since then.

Well when I first discovered your channel the first video I saw was the iguana video, definitely not for me anymore. I had my heart set on it but after that. Definetly not one I could have! Then I was looking at savannah monitors, and wow they eat a ton! I would really want a blue tonged skink as of right now, but I’m still not sure if it’s for me. Are there any other lizards around that size you’d recommend? I also thought about just getting a peppered gecko, but I’m afraid the little children in my house won’t be able to handle them right because they are so young. So I’m not sure .

And I also would love a ball python! But my mother hates snakes, she’s very afraid of them. I tried to tell her that they can be tamed down and probably at that point won’t try to bite but she was not having it! So I don’t think the snake idea would be a good idea either haha

What do you think of shingleback lizards? After living in Australia for 2 months (where there are actually captive bred), and they seem similar to blue tongues in terms of how you keep them. They're also omnivores and just adorable. I have seen some in the wild, and they might just be my favourite lizards. Do you have an opinion on shinglebacks as pets?
