Armani Jacket Restoration

This was a Cool project. So the customer sent it to get restored, we usually offer 2 option with tears. Patching or panel replacement. I think the only thing to do with a jacket of this caliber is to replace the panels so you can’t tell it was ever torn. So that’s what we did. This project cost $980

Giorgio doesn't want the clothes fixed, He wants them to buy more.

I had the same thought prior to reading your comment..... of course the great Armani wants Ricky to buy new 👖. Not repair them in any way.

I wanted to point this out, but you said it much more concisely.

Great work, Steve, as always! I loved G.A. back in the early 80s (before he introduced Prive, Emporio, Collezioni, and such). As Cat Steven once sung, it was back "when I wore a younger man's clothes." Back then, it was mainly Armani and the less expensive Mani line. Maybe your 'FUTURE' is your own designer line (shoes, jackets, bags, etc.). 😉

Correction: That's Billy Joel (not Cat Stevens). Sorry to you music fans. 😁

Can’t say enough nice things about your work. You definitely nailed this one, no one would ever know that the jacket was repaired. When I need to slow down and unwind your videos always pop up in my feed. Thank you for sharing the talent you’ve been given.

Our neighborhood cobbler, an Italian guy who called his shop Don’s Shoe Hospital is retired and recently decease but I know he would have appreciated your artistry and commitment. Don started in the early 1950’s and retired in 2016 and has been deceased in 2020. He was a wonderful guy and true craftsman and would have really respected you Mr Bedo!

Steve are you sure your shoemaker father wasn't a closet tailor and your mum a seamstress because you have to have gotten these tailoring skills from someone. A lovely restoration Steve, very well done and explained. As to Ricky Martin, really who hasn't heard of him, a wonderful tale of fixing his pants as to the great Armani, he can just push off, don't alter his designs, what a silly bugger. It's probably because he didn't think of it first, or he was missing out on old Ricky Martin needing new pants from him instead of repairing them. One last thing I absolutely adore that sewing machine, the way the orange thing on the side holds the material and how precise it is, must have cost a small fortune. The sewing machine is better than hammer time.

Pretty cool your work caught the attention on Mr. Armani. Too bad he didn’t see the genius of your alterations and employ your expertise in the design of better pants. Nice work on the jacket, look fresh and like new.

I like the way you did such a good job on this jacket, you weren't sure which panel had been replaced!!!!! I found that very funny - but also a measure of how great your work is - keep up the good work Steve!

I enjoy these projects where you save a leather jacket that has been damaged. Especially when the jacket requires extra care in disassembly. Your level of expertise is what makes watching the process of restoration fascinating. Continue the excellent work, sir.

Steve, a little suggestion ... I saw on RU-vid about some leather jacket manufacturers in Japan, Korea, China, usually they use Double Side Tape instead of liquid glue to stable edges before sewing. One of the reason is they don't want liquid glue accidentally landed on the surface of leather especially those expensive leather and the other reason is more convenient than liquid glue when apply. Perhaps you might try next time when you do similar repair on garments, handbags etc....

Always enjoy your videos and the one about things other than shoes are good for a change and show how versatile you are. I have been a musician for years and out of necessity have become somewhat of a Luthier and was doing some fret work and now doing a broken headstock repair touch up and improvement from a past repair while watching you work. I thank you for sharing it’s relaxing and I have learned so many things. How nice would it have been to have had the information on the internet back when learning thing required experience and/or apprenticeship. My boots and shoes look better than ever before except possibly when I was in the military. I was surprised at how thin the leather used for a designer jacket was I guess because all my leather jackets are biker jackets, lol amazing work this repair, best Wishes in all your videos.

Scones are a very English thing. We eat them cut in half across and filled with strawberry or raspberry jam and clotted cream however we can get into serious arguments almost coming to blows over whether the cream or the jam is put on first! Not to mention the pronunciation of the delicacy, scon or scone. Fantastic restoration, Steve. Love the videos.

You’re doing scones all wrong. Split your scones in half, liberally spread them with butter, then a layer of jam / conserve, and top it with a blob of whipped cream. Heaven. Without the essential adornments, scones are a cautious pleasure.
