@@samh6456 my advice would be before you even get certified, go get some self defense training. More times than none you will go hands on with someone before using your weapon.

@@merica255 the classes aren’t difficult at all. Most classes consist of the basics of security and state laws . And some of the dos and don’t as a armed security officer. The first tip is if you don’t think u can handle a situation CALL the police!!

Most companies do require it. But you could find one that makes an exception if you meet their other requirements. For example In Texas most security companies want you to already posses your gaurd card.

Oof, good luck finding ANY company that will take inexperienced guards. I have about 5 years of unarmed guard experience and no one will touch me because i don't have police or military experience.

Just keep applying. Look for entry level work for experience if you have to.

yes I been doing unarmed security for 6 7 years now since 2015 just started doing armed security 3 months ago and also did bail enforcement in 2018 I can say get some experience befor going armed train get good training and good duty gear also ask the security agncey if they would allow you to wear I body cam

Yes, the gerber is a 3.3-inch blade. I'm not sure his state or municipality laws on blades, so I will only say for Tennessee (my state). we can carry any size. However, most companies only allow a maximum length of 4-5 inches. Though, like you said, I personally go with a TDI or socp

Yea I know some companies don’t always want to go with the full tactical look, I guess it also depends on the environment and type of security that is being provided.

Hey pal! It is verry important to your health that you don't strain your back with too much stuff, while having an external carrier to strap your holster to is a god send, you can always have a suspension system for your duty belt to split the load! I work 24 hour shifts and it realy makes a massive diference, especialy during a sprint, instead of everything wobbling around, the suspension system acts like a shock absorber, you can keep your current duty belt and just attach a suspension system to it, cheers!

You shouldn't be there are plenty of people who have been diagnosed with ptsd working as armed officers, though you would be better to check with the agency that manages security in your state.

Most security companies provide you with a firearm and ammunition. FMJ (ball ammo) is usually it used for training. Hollow points for duty carry

Fmj's can be useful in defeat car doors, windows, and windshields.

Never once did I carry more than was necessary to do my job... not once did I ever need a tactical vest or even half the crap I see a lot of guards wearing these days... In fact, anyone who works under my control gets told point blank what they can and cannot wear and anyone caught with anything more or less than what they are told they can have is swiftly dealt with. The attitude that comes from being equipped like para-military is exactly what causes otherwise good guards to start believing too much of their own publicity and when they do that, they start thinking they're invincible and then they start making stupid decisions while on the clock. Our primary function is to observe and report... too many guards forget that when they start gearing up like Arnie in Commando.
