I'm too lazy to ever get more precise than 2 or 3 digits. As per usual, feedback is more than welcome, and all music used is listed in order at the end of the video. #fromsoftware #armoredcore6
I love that it actually goes a lot further than that. There are handrails, catwalks and service doors on EVERYTHING which let you see exactly how a person might navigate these mind-bendingly massive structures, as well as frequently reminding you just how enormous everything is
I just want to say that I really appreciate how much effort you put into the editing and animation for these videos. It must take so long but it really helps elevate the vids! Nice work
Appreciate that a ton! Definitely means a lot considering the production value of your recent videos. Looking forward to seeing that inevitable AC6 lore video!
Was thinking the exact same thing this video might not even get over 10K! But hey the amount of work on this one 7 minute video is crazy Edit: It got over 10k let’s go
While that's an apt comparison, iirc 4/V/6 aren't supposed to be the same singular running timeline, they're all their own separate thing like most Final Fantasy games are, minus the specific same-generation sequels like 4Answer/Verdict Day. Otherwise yeah, if Armored Core played Civ V, they'd be a Ramses main lmao, they're popping out superstructures to celebrate every major event in human history, it seems
@@VLimit11 Not even that - remember those AI controlled machines that came to live after the Coral Surge? Most of the planet's structures was probably made fully autonomously.
Frankly of the megastructures shown at the end, the Vascular Plant still beats them by virtue of being a glorified oil rig. If humanity in AC6 builds moneymakers that size, what would they even consider MEGA?
Who’s to say humanity regularly builds things as massive as the Vascular Plant? For all we know, it might be the largest and most expensive project that Arquebus Corporation has ever done, and the costs will take decades or a century to recoup.
@@natethegreat7967 Arquebus was just a random part manufacturer who setup an operation on rubicon after the coral/fires of ibis put it on the map. We know humanity in the AC universe has built multiple towers (20km) and multiple cradles (4km) on earth. An actual industrial corp with MT's could build something much larger if they decided to for whatever reason.
With 7% the radius of earth, the weight of the helicopter would probably be pretty comparable with a heavy military vehicle. Thus explaining how it can actually fly lol
I didn't consider that! That definitely makes some player/enemy movement easier to understand if you think of it all in low gravity (though I probably shouldn't think too much about realism in this series, haha)
@@venlil For some reason that reminds me of Kerbal Space Program. All the celestial bodies in that game are incredibly dense. For example, Kerbin is 58,000 kg per cubic meter. Earth IRL is a measley 5515 kg /m3.
The size of the vascular plant and the xylem is an oddly effective way of representing the scale of the corporations' greed. Is hard to even justify fighting over anything when you have access to that quantity of resources.
Yeah, that's literally owning planets level of money. Or at least owning whole moons. If you _still_ need more resources after that then it's not about really needing resources but just wanting more to own out of base greed.
It's not just the resources, its the power. Arquebus not only had infinite money at their disposal with the Vascular Plant but also a way to control who gets the super fuel for both machinery and weapons. Whatever price and whatever amount of resources they have to invest doesn't matter because once they get a hold of Rubicon nothing else will matter and everything they lost they can easily replace later on by selling Coral or take it by force using Coral powered weapons and AC's on top of having access to both RRI and PCA technology.
For our population? Certainly. But the more people that exist, the more resources that are needed to support them. We may only see Rubicon, but its also only one of many worlds the PCA is dealing with, and the PCA is only one government administration that's basically watching over the equivalent of EPA Superfund sites. The broader spacefaring civilization could easily be host to Quadrillions of humans at a low end.
@@Headbringer typing with one or both index fingers, usually while looking directly at the keyboard rather than the display. it's common for people who don't use computers much, or very well
Tried the blueprint thing again, but with slightly less cringe this time. I didn't have anyone double-check my calculations or visual comparisons, so let me know if I messed anything up along the way. If not, then feel free to share any feedback or suggestions for future videos if you have any!
How would the vascular plant look on an actual sized Earth? Rubicon may have been shrunk for symbolic purposes and to make the plant more imposing, so having it on a planet large enough for 1 G gravity would be an interesting visual.
That's a good hypothetical. I imagine it would still be visible, but Rubicon's total volume is WAYYY smaller than Earth's, so it might not look as impressive
oh, i didn't even knew that rubicon was THAT small!!! it explains how these massive machines are not crumbling under their own weight, since the gravity of this planet would be much weaker
I mean on paper you could make these same machines on earth and make them stand, however you'll need a powerful powerplant for that, like how large animals can withstand its own weight by expending energy.
Pretty sure ACs/mechs are used on earth too, just like they were used on earth in previous AC games. You're reading too much into it. By your logic, people shouldn't even be able to colonize and live on Rubicon. The low gravity would cause their bodies to atrophy and they'd all eventually die from living in that environment for too long. It's a game about mechs, not some simulator. Don't take it that seriously.
@@Saru-yr3qkyou DO realise that cybernetics are a widespread thing by the time of armored core 6,right? So it's not out of the question that most of the rubicon citizens use cybernetics to make up for that, or generate artificial gravity. So overall, your point is rather moot tbh.
@@Saru-yr3qk "Just don't think about it" is a lame way to stop a conversation people are having fun with. It's also a lame way to defend something you like against perceived criticism.
The mata nui robot is about as tall as earth's diameter. Now remember that it can comfortably lie on aqua magna, and that moon is small compared to bara magna. The bionicle universe is HUGE.
3:00 Materials science is always improving too, so it's not a large assumption to make that fighting vehicles will become ~20% lighter than their modern counterparts in a future with lasers, plasma weapons, and hover tech! This is something that armchair novelists seem to forget when critiquing the weight of sci-fi weapons.
@@DIMOHA25 This is very true, that's a problem that plagues almost all real-robot mecha. Larger proportions lead to much greater volume and thus greater weight. Even if we assume that there's a surprising amount of empty space in the average AC, they're still probably around 4 times lighter than they should be (without assuming ACs are built out of exotic materials). That was my bad, you're right. I'm so used to people complaining about how light future-aircraft and future-tanks are in sci-fi that I gave a kneejerk response tbh. Technically, some of the Gundam universes use special superlight alloys to justify their given weights, so that's a possible explanation to the problem of the in-game given weights for ACs. The in-game tech could all be using superlight materials, but appear as conventional things like steel and concrete because the future-versions of these materials look quite similar while being substantially better. Either that, or AC6 exists in a universe where volume isn't squared 🤷♂
@@Supercohboy i think one of the few real robots that gets weight kind of right is Armored Troopers Votoms, the Scopedog weights something like 6,7 tons , is meant to be a light unit , but if you see the measurements you will notice that the Scopedog is less tall than a armored humvee is long (Scopedog is 3,8 meters tall , humvee is 4,5 meters long) and the Scopedog is heavier than a armored humvee , which all things considered makes sense , it has a similar size compared to a real life vehicle and is a tad heavier than it , the Scopedog doesn't feels like is ultra light but neither that it is very heavy
As something of a real-world example: if you told an Egyptian Pharaoh that modern humanity would be able to build structures over a mile tall, he'd probably whip you dead for silliness. Modern skyscrapers are only possible because steel is much lighter than stone, hence you can make straight vertical structures with it, whereas with stone you'd have to contend with its weight and various other properties and hence why the most common way to build large with them without the use of adhesives was to make a pyramid.
Im really glad you kept going after all the demotivating dips. there's nothing that motivates me to keep pushing on in blender than incredible proof of concepts like yourself
Yeah, sometimes we all just need to get over those few big hurdles in our way to see that the rest of the race isn't so bad. Glad I could help give some motivation, and best of luck on your future projects!
I like how you also made a similar style to every scale of its colour scheme like a blueprint compare to the “Real Engineering” in every Formulas, Equations, and Measurements
I just love how you edited this and used an IG AC as an animated model to make the video more interesting. It's really nice. (and the Iguazu angry typing scene made me laugh 🤣)
Cool vid. Old Raven here. AC6 did go big for sure. Biggest yet in the series I’d wager. With the enhanced Assault Boost and increased upward mobility, the player can forget the size of the world as it is easily scalable by a half decent pilot. For me PvP is where the wheat is separated from the chaff. Spectating 2 teams that properly communicate in a party of some sort, can be quite a sight to behold. Even your best build with your best map don’t mean shit if you ain’t ready to strap in for some heart racing, adrenaline pumping, insanity that would give a robot a seizure. I love this game. Looking forward to more of your content. Earned a like and sub.
6:05 It's a kilometer taller than a Sh'wada-pattern Supercarrier is long or _barely_ shorter than the Unyielding Hierophant is long. Yes, the monstrously large Super Shipyard/Battlestation/Command and Control Center/Repair Station/Refit Station that's also capable of supporting a fleet of over 500 capital ships and the Vascular Plant is almost as tall as the Unyielding Hierophant is long.
The quality of the editing and animation, the deep dive into accurate pixel measurements this a an amazing video and you’ve earned a subscriber! Looking forward to what you do next
This video is so well done, the editing to the visuals is great! I was already really interested in big-mecha-machine game but now I'm really interested, great job!
Wow I adore the humor and visuals for this video. Your lil animated AC avatar is just oozing with charm. And those are just the cherry on top to the well-presented info! Excellent stuff.
This was so well produced, thank you for walking me through the scale comparisons like the math plebian I am. I feel like this only added to my understanding and the general conversation in the community. Plus: It's clear from both Elden Ring and AC6 that From is very serious about expanding scale significantly, which makes me incredibly excited for the future!
my guy, this might be your best video. it's insane to see the progress of your production quality. you clearly put a lot of time and love into your videos. much love and excited to see more
The edition, animations and lore/IRL accuracity was amazing, i really like this video and i hope you get us more vids like this one, keep up the good work buddy 💯
very nice editing and animating the blue AC, its such a great job well done and for have taking my almost 8 mins of time you get 1 sub. you doing great man
I have to say yours is my favourite of this series of "AC6 is big" videos. Endless effort in editing, great music choices, amazing IRL comparisons. Length and height is just as impossible for me to comprehend as for example numbers are for basically anybody. I could never understand how can someone roughly say how far aways A is from B when talking about a long driving session or how far away I live from the train station, etc. After certain point they're insanely over our knowledge.
awesome video, the animation work and how lively you made your representative AC model behave was quite fun to watch, even when it held the PC of elden ring as if it was a toy figure. xD Armored Core always gave me this strange feeling of being at home in a space not made for me, that is, the perspective of piloting an AC, and that the whole environment around ACs and MTs being design to facilitate their use, as either labor machines or combat. its also insane to imagine that older AC games happened mostly under ground, stuff like Layered from AC3 having such varied urban parts and even its own ecosystem with forests and seas.
i like the tid bits of in side science and scale when it comes to games; from openworld scale RU-vid channels, to notably how fitting it is to be in Armored Core. subbed!
I did not even flinch when you mentioned a bunch of other people already discussing this subject. Your editing and animation, not to mention narration for the opening and for the whole video made me stay. And subscribed. I'm not really into watching editing and animation on youtube, but yours is probably the best in my opinion. Crazy good work, love your style. Keep it up!
Came by to watch this after a certain 5hr and 30m movie. Just wanna say this is an eye opener never thought how actually big all these things are great work. Also this animtions with G5 and your custom AC were awesome.
I wanted to congratute for such a great video, but I just saw you got Vaati´s accolade, so I guess mine will be a bit dwarfed... like the Erdtree vs the vascular plant!! LOL Nevertheless, you deserve all the comments and likes for it!! You put your own flavor to a topic that was already visited and made it more enjoyable! I loved the AC host for your video!
I appreciate feedback from any and all commenters, it means a lot to me no matter who says it 🙏 Some of the guidelines I follow for video-making to this day were suggested from 1 or 2 comments on some of my oldest work, so trust me when I say I'm thankful for the kind words!
I dont know if its as big necessarily, but the xenoblade series also has wonderful giant setpieces. Xenoblade 1 has the two main titans of bionis and mechonis, xenoblade 2 has the various titans and the world tree, which is similar in appearance to the vascular plant, and xenoblade 3 has the mechonis sword as a towering landmark. I love games with such a sense of scale and ive been loving my armored core playthrough(s) so far
The first time I saw something that really made me feel dwarfed was in Transformers: War for Cybertron, which had its own Strider adjacent mission. That thing blew my mind. Despite having giant structures in past Armored Cores, the series didn't do that to me until this game. After the scenery and the strider, I knew things would get even crazier. The Vascular Plant straight up left me in quiet awe for like 10 minutes as I wondered how something like that could exist. And sure, it's a videogame, but there's just something so fun about feeling dwarfed by something impossibly massive.
Something that would be really intersting to compare to is the grid pillars/platforms. They easily dwarf the strider for example, and some of the missions take place on them entirely.
My jaw dropped at the vascular plant.. like hot damn, FromSoftware really went the extra mile this time around. Also, I like the little animations of the AC you do, subbed. 🎉
I absolutely love this video. I love the use of an AC for the model and how you move it. And I don't care if other people have made similar videos, I absolutely love Armored Core and will watch different people's takes on the same subject, because they all do things differently and sometimes give different statistics.
One thing to conisidered how arquebus was able to restore the vascular plant in the time they did was. If you read RaD's AC parts, it gives insight that ACs arent just weapons of war, but also fancy forklifts.
I could imagine an open-world hybird Armored Core game, most likely exclusive to next gen. I say hybrid because it will mostly be like Elden Ring except the garage acts as the Round Table, with the arena function acting much the same way. With the scale of some of these buildings and structures, it will be the most unique open-world experience ever!
ngl, got my sub, only thing i could possibly imagine adding to it was showing the satellite laser's size and the good old answerer to have a similar scale of what the largest enemy was in older ACs compared to now(im not 100% sure the answerer was the largest, but it felt like while being bombarded by lasers)
I wanted to cover that (along with the Xylem and most of the minor bosses) but I started scrambling to get this finished once I saw how much work was being done by Zullie on the same topic 😅 I gotta learn how to work faster, since it doesn't feel great cutting corners like that
Cool video I’ve been playing the game and wondering how big my AC was. I compared it to a building and it was three stories!! So interesting when put into perspective.
Yeah, I like this kind of scale in games. I'm planning on having an object in the skybox of the FPS I'm working on be over a light-second long, it's a warp cannon, the only known method of FTL travel. It's going to appear as a thin white line though, as it's pretty far away.
