@@armoredcoreloreI hope they put this weapon in armored core 6 even so it looks magnificently and beautifully powerful and I hope they make it into a secret weapon when you unlock it from the hardest difficulty setting
@@sniffermovies1122 its probably not gonna be an ultimate reward. a late game item, sure, but given how iconic of a weapon it is for fromsoftware, theres little chance theyre gonna lock it behind a difficulty wall. even in ACFA you get it just from beating the last mission on the "good guy" path, and in dark souls a boss you have to fight tends to have it
@@armoredcorelore I'm hoping that since it's stated that they're expanding on melee, we'll have some of gen 5's handheld blades in addition to the classic forearm mounted blades.
FromSoft's iconic blade from the very beginning. My personal bit of headcanon for AC2's Moonlight given its design language being a fair bit different to the corporation design languages is that the blade is Martian in origin and like the player, Belena found the blade while excavating Martian ruins, reverse engineered it, and peddled copies as their own product.
Ah the Legendary *MOONLIGHT.* From Software's most iconic blade. The weapon may vary from game to game, many would use this without fail due to it's raw power that can down many foes in quick succession. Nothing better than finding this Legendary weapon via a hidden location or trying to unlock it with tough conditions that many will easily accept the challenge!!! The legacy of this weapon will inevitably continue with Armored Core 6 on the horizon. The *MOON* awaits. Great video!!!!
I always thought it was cool when part names actually could be broken down into full acronyms, seems they stopped doing this as consistently once we get to Nexus, but up to AC3 you can see these designations being pretty consistent. A good example would be the iconic "gun in chest" core from AC2. It's called the ECM-XR00, which stands for Emeraude (Manufacturer) Core (Part Category) Medium (Part Weight Class) - XR00 (Model Name) For the moonlight for example: AC1-MR LS-99-MOONLIGHT -> Laser Sword - 99 - Moonlight AC2-AA LS-MOONLIGHT -> Laser Sword Moonlight AC3-SL MLB-MOONLIGHT -> Mirage Laser Blade - Moonlight Seems they brought this back in V and VD, tho I haven't played them myself.
I loved the simple nomenclature they had up to Silent Line, it made it so easy to understand what a part was at a glance. Even if the later versions gave the parts a more defined link to their corporations, it just made things more confusing - good luck trying to recognize a particular Crest part from Nexus/Last Raven at a glance. About the V gen, in those games corporations are absolutely gone (thankfully they're returning in ACVI), and nomenclature seems to be a bit all over the place, with only mini-series of equipment like the Moonlights or Karasawas having similar names and serial numbers, but that's about it.
With KRSW and MOONLIGHT expected to show up as usual, I'm mildly hopeful that we'll get to see other legacy weapons in 6. It'd be nice to see a new FINGER after all this time.
I miss the damn finger too! It was from PP right? I remember trying it out on the boss. I ended up using the slow moving missile the one that goes "goodbye f****r!" when it hit.
An iconic laser blade that cuts down foes like butter. I hope in AC6 that melee combat is very viable, fun and easy to use since I'm kinda suck at using them.
Ah the Moonlight Blade, my dad used to use this weapon from the days of PS1 up to his last AC Game which was AC4 & FA. Sometimes he’d pass this moonlit torch upon me and I’ll be honest, it was an exhilarating experience as a child. Slashing through both MTs, Armored Cores and even Normals. Like a hot knife through butter, maybe in AC6 I can pick up that mighty blade again and use it as good as my father once did if not better after a decade! ❤ Im eager to return to AC after so long and use such an iconic weapon~! Hopefully its on a stone alter, like King Arthur pulling Excalibur from its stone I will claim my crown by dawning this blade in the Arena!
I'd hate to pay that bill. Still i suppose it better then them running on huge double AA batteries and having to tap it against an mt or a building to get that last bit of energy out of it.
Ah yes, Moonlight Blade, the sword that I wanna use but my build said no and commit overweight... gotta carry those missiles somewhere. Now I demand the history of Missile :DD
@@armoredcorelore The only suggestion I have is showcasing the blade in action and show how devastating it can be fighting an ac equipped with Moonlight.
@@shisterX Noted. However the reason for me not showing off the blades is the fact i am a terrible with them. I hit the air more times then i hit a foe, honestly the little arena fight i show with my ac and the moonlight in ac2 even i admit is not the best showcase of how a blade should be used.
Yeeeeeesss! I’ve been waiting for this one for months, I’m so psyched to check it out :D Between our power finally coming back on (we’ve been in the dark since 2AM Tuesday due to a massive ice storm) and now this, you absolutely made my day!
Ah dam i am sorry to hear about the power cut, but I'm glad to hear the power is back on for you and that my video is helping as that makes me smile too.
@@armoredcorelore Ok, so I just finished watching this and while it was certainly up to your excellent usual standards, there's only one thing missing that I would've liked to see. Unlike the other iconic weapon (the Karasawa), which is specific to AC, the Moonlight sword is more a hallmark of From's games in general, and I think it would've been cool to see a little reference to that, maybe just noting how it first appeared in the King's Field games, all the way through AC, and finally the Souls games as well. Just to place it in a larger historical context as regards From's work. But that's a very minor quibble. All in all, another excellent video!
My baby Hey ACL, a lot of Armored Core RU-vids are mentioning you in their videos and putting your channel in their description cuz you provide crazy amounts of info. Keep up the good work dude!! Love your videos.
When all else has been nerfed across the series, can always rely on this thing to blow through enemies. Especially in 4 when it somehow levels city sized forts by touching them lol. Very nice video again, ACLore. My personal favorite one is the AC2 one, just looks sick.
Thank you very much and ah yes the answers to next, oh wait you mean it fell over to a rocket or a blade. They should have been so much more ha ha. I admit while i like the effects of ac5 ones, i think ac4 moonlight is one that is my favourite. Just due to its backstory.
I liked lasers and plasma. A seeking boom rocket for groups, and the Moonlight for AFs. I can't say I ever killed any NEXTs with it, but it has saved me a lot of bullets and time against Arms Forts. Getting it in AC4 was dangerous in such a confined space, but it was the coolest blade.
Armsforts really did not stand up well to rockets and blades and Anjou ah such a nail biting fight. When she knocked out your targeting system, you either shot blindly, took the fight to her or ran around the space waiting for your chance.
@@armoredcorelore I forgot about that detail. I was always lift thinking, "why did my targeting turn off?", I thought it was me misclicking for so long XD. Getting hit once by the Moonlight was usually enough to indicate you didn't want to be hit again.
The Moonlight blade has returned in Armored Core 6 in style, with a major focus on the wave attack that could only be performed by Human Plus and OP Intensify users from back then. The wave has a good width and long distance, and you can send out a second wave if you attack twice. However, the way melee works now with cooldowns means said waves will be more interspersed in the rest of your arsenal. Additionally, charging the melee attack sends out a long straight wave that can catch multiple foes at once. The IA-C01W2 Moonlight has a base attack power of 615, which is much less than you would anticipate of the legendary blade, and the impact and accumulative impact both of 495. However, the double attack you can perform will increase the total damage to 1230, which is more like it. The charge attack deals 2010 damage, which is more like it, but it takes a bit longer to execute, with 910 impact to its name. Much like Armored Core 5 and Verdict day, this legend would see an upgrade via Coral injection, dubbed the ML-Redshift. It has greater attack power and stun than the standard Moonlight, but as a tradeoff, the charge attack takes a hit to those same stats. The IA-C01W7 ML-Redshift's base attack power by comparison is a good clip higher than the Moonlight at 727, with an upgraded impact of 530, with the double swing netting you 1454 damage. As noted, however, the charge attack takes a dive, suffering a power drop to a mere 1614, and reduced impact to 820, making this blade more suitable for taking on high-ranking enemies (including ACs) instead of the usual MT rabble. Side note: the ML-Redshift also has better direct hit tracking than the Moonlight.
Might probably be one of the longest standing legendary weapons in games ever. Considering just how popular it's spiritual sucessor in the Souls series is, I would kinda put it in the same realm of stuff like the Master or Buster Sword.
Ah Moonlight, as a newbie to AC, I’m a Dark souls veteran. I loved the Moonlight Greatswords then, and you bet your sweet ass I’m gonna be using Moonlight in AC6.
in 4 / FA the stats are not necessarily accurate, due to the fact that the ARMS have a stat called ENERGY SUPPLY. This multiplies the attack power of energy weapons by the amount. This can be improved by FRS memory and stats vary based on Regulation File.
Learning something new everyday. Still I base all the videos on reg one information, so as you say if anyone is using different regulations or frs then they will be different.
Gen 2 and 4 model wise are my favorite, but I like the gen 5 effects (the energy blade, not the model). I hope they build off the effect that's in 5 in 6, cause it is very cool to look at imo.
I do like 5 effects as i said is like you engulf your foe is this sea of blue flames. Its quite cool still as a pilot who can't use blade well i tend to not use blades and i am sure it shows.
I hope they bring back some notable AC's for the arena. Mostly I'd like them to bring back Ace from AC3. That's the main game I played and he was suuuuuper hard to beat, for me. Also his AC imo looks the coolest :)
In the first gen of AC, if the player has Human Plus, the waveblade of the Moonlight is more than likely the single most devastating weapon in the game when it comes to single shot prowess. The proof is in the pudding, in that if Nineball Seraph hits the player with one of these waveblades, the player might as well call it quits at their AP is torn to shreds with such an attack.
@@armoredcorelore You know I will be waiting to hear this from you especially because I know once you do, I strongly believe you'll change everyone's perspective on the 5th gen! ^-^
New moonlight is simply a wave blade. Like the earliest version, without the melee, it is simply a ranged attack with two consecutive back to back wave attacks at range, or a charge attack that makes a really big wave with longer range. Fun fact: The AC6 version of the Moonlight can attack through walls!
5:40 you made a oopsie with the late 3rd gen moonlight. 2048 isn't the attack power its the discharge heat. 1772 is the attack power. On a side not elf 3 is amazing. Lightest fastest high attack power blade best heat attack of the blades and a disproportionately powerful blade wave that when fired on the ground out damages all other blades damage with the exception of Very specialized poke builds.
As a long-time player of Armored Core, the best versions of the Moonlight are the original, when enhanced by Human Plus, wrecks anything, whether you are close to it or not. Armored Core 2 and 2 Another Age for its design. Armored Core For Answer
There is a hidden blade in the last raven that I THINK* is a moonlight blade or something like it, all I know is I kept using it till the end of the game, this was a big deal because its in the second or third mission of the entire game, hidden all the way up on top of a dam near the mid point of the level. Correct me if im wrong armoredcorelore! :D
Had to get out the walkthrough for this question but this would not be the rasetsu parry blade you talking about would it? It is found in the third level of last raven or are we talking about the YWL16LB-ELF3, the crwlo6lba or the YWLO3LB TAROS as all these are hidden blades within LR. And there is a moonlight in last raven, but its given as a reward for completing Destroy AC Vigilance and its the WL Moonlight
I think Darkmoon was a change specific to ER, but I could be wrong. Just because Ranni uses dark moon spells and it's the weapon she gives you, so it makes sense to reflavour it slightly.
@@armoredcoreloreNot only is there the moonlight, but there's also an alternate version of it - ML-Redshift. If I recall correctly, it's obtained via a rather spoilery arena battle available mid chapter 4 of NG++
@@milesnevills5534 you still need to adapt to its movement in attack pattern, because modern from software bosses have different attack pattern and movement in the player had to adapt to the situation. This applies to Armored Core 6
The MLB-LS/003, not really to be honest. I've had a look in my copy of armored core last raven perfect manual and Silent line one to check and the only real lore is the a name change to WL01LB-ELF and that it suffered like many parts a major rise in Discarded heat.
@@armoredcorelore I have some weird idea. How about a video about the starter AC of each games? Dive into the lore and possible reasons of why the starter of each games come with those parts!
I don't think you mentioned this, the Moonlight can shoot a wave attack out of it if you do a special input. I think it is the most defining characteristic of the blade.
From AC1 to ac3 blade waving can be done with any blade as long as the raven is a human plus. But from nexus till last raven any blade could produce a blade wave by using the blade while boosting. It was not something only the moonlight could do.
Sure its first appearance was in the kings field series. But the moonlight blade is seen in a lot of fromsoftwares games and each one has developed its own history within these worlds.
@@armoredcorelore always have to comment twice, algorithm likes interactions. Lol. And thank you! It took way too long for me to catch that btw... lol. I didn't even notice. Funny enough Ace is my favorite enemy from AC3 besides Painkiller.
