Ah, V. The one game where you NEED the books to understand what the hell is going on, namely the one that confirms Chief's AI status and sets up the survivors as patriarchs of the three great powers of VD.
In VD (The sequel to V) there are these huge towers that look like those floating cities from 4A that housed half of all humanity that you destroy in the Old King ending that give off large amounts of Kojima radiation in lore. plus one of the bosses is a NEXT so...
I realize there must have been a LOT of knowledge from the old world that was lost, but seriously, if you're going to name your three daughters Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia specifically, you really shouldn't be surprised by any familial strife and misery that follows.
on a serious note, the Corporation's AC: Hangman; seem to be a joint project between Interior Union and Torus, as it shares design aspect of both the Y01 Tellus and Argyros Nexts. but most likely use scaled down part to fit this "Super Normal" AC.
@@zorain2354 I refer to them as "Super Normals" simply because they're far smaller than a standard Next. though Hangman could possibly the first of its kind as a Mini Next, considering Interior Union and Torus being of the leading Kojima particle and energy expert Corporations (other than Omer Science Tech), they could've indeed made smaller Kojima reactors for these newer smaller Nexts. considering it was Omer and I.U. that made AF Answerer, which had super scaled Next tech, its no doubt they could easily make it smaller. though the ACV Super Normal ACs Medium weight body parts resemble GAs design Architect, which would make sense in terms of mass production.
I do like the idea of Chief and Carol being AI, fighting Chief multiple times in different scenarios made him a fun and charismatic "villain" to go against, while RD, not so much, borderline an annoying character, odd character development but I did think he was a good penultimate fight with him constantly at you with the grindblade. The Zodiac group and the range of personalities of those pilots I thought was a brilliant part of ACV, a bit like the pulverisers, constantly learning and advancing to create the ultimate pilot/machine. What makes it sad for the pilots is that most or all of them can't even remember why they're doing it anymore and some even question it, while Angie their operator gave up mind, body and soul for their goal (which also links to VD where the world boss LiVs name is Angelica which is or could be Angie brought back (I like to think it's the former with how LiV cries out for help after you defeat her)) For all it's faults 5th gen did have some cool things going. Great video and I can't wait to see the video covering Verdict Day!
Oh the lore is sweet in this gen and I am looking forward to doing a video on to the zodiacs and Angie. I just could not make this video any long with their information. Which is a shame, but I felt what I presented gave the basic idea of the group.
I remember both my friend and I were making fun of RD for always whining. Then BAM!! The truck explodes. My friend and I just started laughing. XD We didn't hate RD, but the fact that we were just bitching about him then he "DIES". It was just a funny moment. Good memories haha
It is quite the fun idea and well with how the book talks about the old era and how all history is lost. It very well leaves it up to ac fan to decide what and when 5 took place.
Didn't expect any less from this legend, also ty so much for bringing the translation of the book! So many years after enjoying the story without even knowing the towers in acvd were teased here!
My first taste of AC was picking up V and For Answer at a Gamestop after a very close English friend of mine told me about it 11 years ago. We both still talk AC and we're super fucking ready for Rubicon. Appreciate you getting your hands on that Japan-only material like usual. It's just as important as the things you uncover in the game itself.
ACV was my first game to this series, my favorites mech game and the best real robots I’ve played The ACV designs were my favorites, they’re blended realism, military hardwares with some crazy super robot and felt very grounded, reminds of Zakus and grunts suit which also only MS that I like from gundam. For multiplayer game, ACV has so much lore ngl A little titbit about ACV -Before Dark raven got dropped from helicopter we can see that there a bunch of ACs that carried by helicopters led before us. Those guys got destroyed by Jack in tunnel after he fought Dark raven -There are ACV intros in mission 00 displays around the map -Father speech is very in interesting ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jw4fEPo0jvM.html at 1:15 from this video (This is actually about cut dialogues but it had father speech in game) -Zodiac seem to had only 12 ACs but they had actually 13 ACs No.6 Gemini had 2 ACs that implied that one of his ACs was pilot by his AI -In mission 01, Zodiac No.7 Cancer was the first Zodiac we met and he destroyed City Guard Unit 11 in his cutscene ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UXFoU3PrLAA.html Rip poor guy -Chief and No.3 Pisces laughing are referred to Celo from AC4 -Chief’s AC implied that Hangedman was based on NEXTs His legs was based on Argyros while his core was based on Y01-Tellus When he use pillar, his ACs emitted spheres similar to Primal Armored but briefly *My theory* Before event of ACV, miniature Nexts were a thing just like Rosenthal’s Nexts (Hogire to Lancel) -Scavenger had similar eyes to Rayleonard’s Aaliyah and 002B unmanned AC and sharpness from Omer -Grind blade need so much energy that’s why it blown our arm off ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HsZQQHIb_Ks.html -In the V book page 47, there are unknown place that look like ruined of underground cities, maybe ACV is somewhat connected to Gen1-3 -JP voice of Carol is a waifu material *cough cough* -RD’s JP voice actor is the same person who voiced the main character in Sekiro -Chief’s dialogue when he said “I hope you like your presents~” is referring to Metal Wolf Chaos character named Richard -When Chief got kicked by Dark raven, he spins like a White glint and the the left core area also damaged -Chief’s emblem Hangedman is the twelfth card of the major arcana in a tarot deck, additionally the symbolism itself means 'self sacrifice' or 'self acceptance' and also depictions of Odin which his AC head and Odin also had one eye (when armored) -Chief’s head when purged it armors is only head that had two eyes in the series, maybe And lastly, Thx you again for another great lore video and thx you for followed my request!
The fact that there're barely any existing major powers implied that the current corporation is more of a remnant by their own lack of advanced tech. Since the Old King implies endless destruction, it's possible that all cradle was destroyed while the survivor had to wanders on the wilderness.
28:25 THIS. scared the f outta me. Chief, somehow alive, big flaming pilar. I think his line there was what spooked me too "Human being are just so damn interesting!!" I appreciate the extra pages of chapters you've provided. gives us further insight to how freakin eerie and alien Carol is as well. His exusia theme and its haunting return in Verdict Day are great too
Thank you and yes chief certain gives off an certain feeling to him, before being known as an ai i used to think Chief as this genius mad man who knew he was just smarter then everyone but loved a challenged.
Oh my....!!! There are SOO many moving parts in ACV that I have to go back and play after my challenge run in ACV/D. How do get this knowledge...? Damn, you did a hell of a job; had me stop editing my video to finish watching this video! This was a pleasure so much that I think this video single-handedly raise the resale value of all copies of ACV out on the mark. I would love for the devs to take the time out to create missions based on the forgotten days for the players to play. Now I must seek out these books of knowledge! Good job as usual ACL; put my videos to shame! ^
Ha ha Ark your videos are brilliant, never say otherwise. I appreciate the praise and if you want some scans of the books let me know and I'll drop some over to you.
I'm fairly certain that AC5 and Verdict Day make the Destroy ending for AC4A canon since its really the only one that makes sense with the events of V. Only reason I say this is one of the bosses in Verdict Day, I believe, is piloting a repaired NEXT that looks like a black White Glint.
N-wgix and while i am sure many people would agree, sadly the lore book the fact is very loose with it timeline and goes well there was a chance we had this past or maybe this one. But it's all lost to time now so who knows?
The beginning of AC V between Jack and Don kind of reminds me of the anime Gungrave, and the diverging paths each character takes in establishing their futures. Especially when Don becomes Father, that really hit home for me considering his actions were almost exactly that of Harry MacDowell going forward until his death. I also liked the difference in plot compared to AC 4. The differences of goals, values of life and ultimate uses of the Armored Cores holds a different brand of currency which really influences how the story goes. This one was also shorter than the previous game, which was actually pretty charming. The intensity of the decisions never decreased, but FromSoftware wee able to shift the dynamic from 'the fate of millions' to a decision of how forge a new future. They pulled this one off flawlessly. Thanks for covering it for us.
Not gonna lie, I played all of ACV and ACVD and the multiplayer for a long time and after it was over I could not tell you anything about the story. The way it is presented in game is odd. Thankyou for doing this video!
Well i hope you enjoy ac6 raven and i am glad to hear your enjoying the lore =) AC certainly has a lot of lore to enjoy and the new lore of ac6 too its very cool.
With this I've finished watching all your armored core lore videos in the playlist and i have to say it was a delight and pleasure to watch all of them. Didn't get a chance to play any of the armored core games and wanted to learn something of the series and your videos were very informative and helpful, my favorite gotta be 4 and 4a of the series with Last Raven being behind them. Hyped for armored core 6 and for more of your vids in the future.
Thank you very much for your mind praise. I am glad they helped as i think it will help new people to understand some things they may see in ac6 and go on that came from that ac game. As for ac6 i look forward to seeing what lore it has.
@armoredcorelore if have trouble beating n-wgix/v use this method aka nineball loadout ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pLaXe0UnoOA.html
Chief you damn Crazy guy😂 even though he is an AI but still 32:29 funny fact :if you use the OVERRED weapon that chief used to shoot us from an oil refinery , he(zodiac) will instantly die ,but you must immediately prepare weapons and Charge it before he got off his transport heli , and don't forget to use the core and generators that can speed up energy transfer to the OVERRED weapons
He is quite the character and I see your take the other name for the ultimate weapons, so did the translations =) Oh neat I might have to give it go since the game is still in my ps3.
I see no problem with that. The old era from the book left so many doors open with its it could be a war or maybe weather however no documents exist so we don't know.
@@armoredcorelore Thank you ! It feels weird yeah, after being ultra niche for years, so many people decided to pick up the games and try it. This is so surreal !
Thank you for this. I know it’s a Black Sheep of the Armored Core games but I love V and Verdict Day. This showed Lore I had no idea existed and I thought I had a pretty good rundown on Gen 5s lore. I wished we had a game based on the Old/Pollution Era. That might be the Gen 4 games but still a prequel would be nice. What happened after 4A that Nexts aren’t used anymore? Was the OldKing Route Canon? after Strayed killed the League and probably causes more destruction were NEXTs not made anymore in fear of another Genocidal LYNX Or is the ORCA Route Canon? With the Corpos essentially abandoning Humanity on earth for space did the people that stayed on earth caused a War? were all Next destroyed during said War and caused people to build new Mechs out of Scraps?
It a pleasure i enjoyed my dive into V and i am sure verdict days will be just a fun. As you say sadly the books did little more then cause more questions as while they heavily suggest the link to 4A they also pull the, but everything is lost so we have no idea trick.
Thanks absurd and honestly most of this information comes from the two books the after and the fact. Which is a shame as there is so much to enjoy here for any ac fan.
@@armoredcorelore yeah I noticed you reference the books a lot. On the bright side, you are bringing that hidden lore to people who cant translate the books! Very kind.
I was hoping you were going to do both the story of Armored Core 5 and verdict day split into 2 parts like you did with armored core 4 and for answer. Now anyway, we’re one month away from the release of Armored Core 6 fires of Rubicon.
there's a lot going on in gen 5 compared to previous AC games. Gen 5 has split their stories into two groups. the campaign and a side story (or continuation) after the death of Father and the corporations secret weapon "Exusia" the migrants, the corporation, Zodiac, Men of Honor, and even overlooked groups and mercenaries like "The beehives" and "the three wisemen" I think even for ACL he would have to work on a hour whole long video of the entirety of Gen 5. because Fromsoft did ALOT of writing for this Gen.
I get that, but we'll touch on them both in the start of acvd video. Its kind of needed anyway with what happens to Fran, Rosary and Caesar and I thought this video was just long enough for people to enjoy without information overload.
They did and with a lot of the lore in the books, I'm going to need a sperate videos to give me some time to get them all sorted out and translated. Along with replaying the game again.
Thanks for this awesome Armored Core V lore video ACL. My personal favourite radio operator in this game, even though i have only saw a playthrough of all Story Missions in ACV was Rosary.Mainly because of her growth from being greedy to being very pleasant towards the MC aka us.And what blew my mind was the fact that she was one of the three sisters who battled for the leadership position in the organisation called Men Of Honor or MOH and her actual name before she renamed herself was Cordelia.
No problem and i admit i like rosary too as our operator she has a nice voice. But yes the lore behind her is super and it goes on in acvd which is even better!
I don't know why, but I love thinking about “Which timeline that AC6 will be?” or something like that. Even though my brain said “There's no way 2nd timeline (which is the 3rd gen) are the base for the 6th gen,” I really 6th gen lore will either continue from 1st/3rd timeline or completely new.
I think they said in an interview it was coming to be a new start. But i could be mishearing after all i've had cannon fire and Fran in my ear most the week.
I love Chief, he's so cool. Voice acting A+. I just love the vibe of Gen5, the rainy city scape is so cool. It's why Halo 3 ODST is my 2nd favorite Halo, the "vibe" is just perfect. I'm not really in love with the HUD though vs other games.
I think, that the true ending in AC FA was the ORCA path (despite Cradle crashed on a side in AC VD). Path to space is cleared, but at what cost? The V is showing us,that after Cradles landed, the humanity survived. But we still don't have any clues about Ehrenberg Batteries and Assault Cells. So,I think that Gen 4 is a non-direct prequel to Gen 5.
Its one of those games i feel everyone has thier own idea on the ending and honestly i would say its for the best as the books about the lore of v is so unclear. It goes there was a war but nobody knows what happened or maybe it was bad weather either way lost to time don't ask questions ha ha.
And after all that... I haven't seen a trace of The Corporation in Verdict Day, other than them being apparently responsible for the Towers. A shame. They were quite the antagonist faction in V, with their motives a complete mystery. Also, Chief is one of my favorite villains ever.
Chief is a good villain. To me its his way of speaking how one minute it all ha ha and the next you very much get this vibe of i could kill you in a second if i want. Him killing the police captain will always be my favourite moment of chief. And well you could say the corporation live on through issac even if he had bent it to his own ideas and he's just not as charmingly evil as our ai chief and carol.
Literally world devastation was caused by the use of primal armor/assault armament from the nexts mechs. Hence why that didn't carry over to the fifth game.
For how much lore there was to this, everyone moved so break neck for Pvp/conquest to get the Metas established. V was okay but the story didn't pull me in
I get that, V never really owned its single player and really a lot of this lore is in the two books on the 5th gen. Which is a shame as this could have been what pulled people in.
@@armoredcorelore that's annoying and justified the feeling I only got with half the hodge podge story. The distraction of controls and different playing style sullied the interest of the story into a task list until x parts were available to do Pvp. Where 3rd/4th gens required near completion to have a competitive stance in fighting 5th gen did away with that. leaving parity fairly flat of builds to only highly annoying poking the game is built around.
Thank you, I admit I was worried as a lot of lore from the books don't really have videos to make them visual. So it is a lot more page viewing then action.
@@armoredcorelore It's truly a shame that the execution isn't as good as it could be, the base and setting is really good, definitely my favourite next to Last Raven. You've still done a very good job from the bits there are. :)
@@armoredcorelore Absolutely! I agree with a lot of his points in his overview video. I get the gist of the lore and I do love a little more depth of the lore. Totally did not know about the Old Era til' now.
I've been seeing a couple of people generally not liking AC5 but in my opinion it was the solid-est game thus far. The story is a bit lackluster compared to previous games I'd say. But gameplay-wise they took a different path from 4th gen, by making it "slower", but in my mind gameplay feels as fast, but in a different way. The menus are well thought out, sound design is way better and the UI in-mech is insane. For real though, it feels like you're looking at a real HUD of a war machine instead of looking like a game. In these aspects, AC5 feels way more polished than 4 and FA, as in it bears more of a resemblance to AAA games of the time instead of a game in a niche genre. I'm not trying to downplay 4 and FA these games were also insane but AC5 is also pretty solid. Sorry for being off-topic, this video is great, old AC games are harder to understand lore wise by just playing the game, I always have to come back here to fully understand the plot. Great work as always ACL :)
Never be sorry about airing out your thoughts here on ac games. I am happy to hear people thoughts on the games i talk about, i myself was not a fan of V when it come out. But its grown on me as I've gotten older and seeing what new games are doing. Story was a little lack luster i admit. Honestly as you seen in this video i ended up going into Japanese only lore books to really get the details. That said i have always been told the devs focused on the team aspect of the game rather then single player. Which is fair really as that is what the team wanted or was told too focus on. I like to think that all ac games have thier place and show off different sides of the mecha game instead of being the same thing over and over again. And thank you, i hope the videos do help and as s aid before never be sorry for going off topic. I like hearing thoughts and opinions of other on ac games.
I have theory for the corporation I think they are the remnants of the corporation from the ac4/acfa era, i think after war over resources all remaining corporation are now have so little power so they merge together, this maybe can explain why hanged man ac looks like interior union and torus join project. maybe they're engineers work together to make a miniaturized ac/ glorified normals. But i still have some question like is gen 5 ac mass produced in someway?, because in the trailer they deployed in big numbers, there also that tank ac with dual auto cannon that looks like it uses the same hanged man body. (Also sorry if there is grammatical error english is not my first language)
I like the theory and believe it or not i can tell the answer to you mass produced question. As while ac's in acv where seen as precious and that why they are worth so much as scrap. In the book ACVD The after it say after the three factions analysed the towers the ability to produce armored cores became possible.
@@armoredcorelorewait really? I literally thought for a long time that ac in acv is mass produce because they deployed in big numbers in the trailer, like those artillery and tank ac, I also further believe this because the corporation capable of building exusia, multiple L. L. L and that giant mech in one of the trailer.
Also quick question how did you manage to continue the story after fight with exusia?, most people play through of the game everyone stop after fight with exusia the only time I see the fight with zodiac is in someone acv edit, is it dlc or extra mission?
Damn i didn't expect you to respond this fast but can you link your pose here after you complete it? Other than that thank you and may we meet again in the future
What really bugs me is that we will probably never know what the point of the towers where and why the corps of old the league or who ever came after made them its where all of the advanced tech went we know that the last boss in vd confirms but why was it a last ditch attempt to save themselves from the pollution but they died out before it was finished or for over means or maybe they did retreat into them and society outside hasn’t made it far enough in yet all ghost runner style it just feels so strange that they are abandoned it’s a shame we won’t be going back to this timeline in the games
Ah a lot of people are still looking over the books and seeking the answers to the towers. But i think its something we have to take with a little patience as when i got the timeline of acv translated i was surprised to read the whole its lost to time no one will ever know what happened or caused the world to be this way. And i think this came down to from having a lot of time between games.
Very likely, my issue was when reading the timeline in the book the facts and it went oh well it happened so long ago nobody knows what happened what it war or global warming?
ok ide have to say within the first minuit you can tell its the former and not the later that lead to creation of AC as such a ginormous robot is not necessary for "peace keeping operations and if anything just represents a large expensive targer for mpads and the like, kind of like a tank. turns out when you really want to supress a population you need power armor
@@armoredcorelore expect the unexpected, depress with the control system and boosting. The rest are great, now I'm currently continue the 2nd part of it, Verdict Day
For those who want more specific information I shall provide you with it Carol and chief were created by the corporations of armored core 4 they left Earth after the close plan in fa it might be obvious but Chief and Carol are ai
I think we got they are AI thanks to the forgotten days information and interesting you can share it on the wiki if you would like that way everyone could see it.
Further information the large unknown weapons such as the sea and air master are weapons created by the corporations when they left these weapons commanded by the corporation are are unmanned AI weapons the weapons serve a similar purpose as to the old AFs that were destroyed in FA to project the corporations power over the land air and sea Chief and Carol were given guardianship over the planet it was their goal to watch over and guard Earth in the corporation's absence when they left until they return
Well we may get an answer in this new book coming out, on the other hand maybe it just something they did not think about or focus when into other areas rather then story.
Is it just me or the ai form the first armored core seems to be be still functional and a possibility of an alternative ending where u don't destroy the ai and wait until it makes an offer to the player character and ghe player becomes like a knight that has united his power with fhe ai for (i think the ai s mission was keeping humans from growing too much) since earth seems to just get destroyed for no reason over and over
I mean if you like to keep the timeline together sure its a neat idea. And the ai mission is ac1 was to guide humanity to a better future until our protagonist destroyed it causing an underground war which would after years would lead to a rebuilt earth government.
@@armoredcorelore well that's the thing I'm not convinced the ai got destroyed like it wasn't begging to be spared like it already finished its job either the 9 balls bought it enough time for it to install itself on the main characters AC and brainwashing him to do it's bidding or just overwriting gus mind to take his body maybe there's a secret ending where u wait enough in front of the ac1 ai and it offers u to join it
@@armoredcorelore i look forward to that, but cant but feel saddened at the fate of some our companions and their legacy being tarnished, more so a flower that bloomed her parent only to wither and become a binary hollow replica, that and the remains of a maidens mind being placed inside of a vortex to wreak havoc on other forces.
