I see Freud as a representation of armored core players. Typically use whatever part is best, climbs to the top of the rankings, but typically unconcerned with the missions or story in favor of "pew pew fight robots"
Worth noting that Snail’s AC parts were mostly developed after the corporation got their hands on PCA tech. And the stun needle was only released shortly before that. This shows Snail’s dedication to always trying to be on the cutting edge. Using the newest technologies available for his AC much like the constant adjustments he makes to his own augmented body.
To add onto this, if you look at Snail's AC during the Ice Worm mission, you'll see that he has the medium laser rifle and the diffuse laser cannon. These then get swapped out for the stun gun and stun needle launcher. Nice attention to detail from FROMSOFTWARE.
also someone pointed out in another AC6 video how his AC's weaponry has little to no synergy with each other. Snail just wants the fancy tech without thinking about the bigger picture of how it works with his AC
@@PsycheTrance65 Ehhh His stun gun and stun needle launcher are good for quickly building up electric discharge, the laser lance is great at closing in for easy damage, and the plasma missiles are a decent pressure tool
Quick correction, Pater actually doesn't die during the Ambush the Vespers mission. Despite being led to believe he died, he reappears during the escape mission, continuing to address himself as V.V, or instead replacing Maeterlink as V.VI should you kill Michigan instead. He also has deleted lines in the Destroy the Drive Block mission, seeing Rusty's Steel Haze being piloted by the RLF, and being shocked that the Vespers are losing.
@@armoredcorelore Another thing to note is his Voice lines in the Jailbreak mission. If you choose to kill Michigan, he has this calm demeanor when delivering the orders to the Arquebus soldiers. Like its been another day, and to keep a lookout since 621 is dangerous. But if you ambush the Vespers, his tone is more tense, and is very insistent to the other troops to keep a sharp eye.
@@r30413 Pater's logo and ac name is most likely a hint about himself. During the mission where you ambush both him and V.V Hawkins, he at first comes off as formal and seemingly holds V.V in high regard during their talk. If you kill Hawkins first, Pater will show anger and sadness that you killed Hawkins, but later on say with a somber chuckle that "V.V Pater has a nice sound to it". If Pater wins he says the exact same line now with a pleased tone instead, coldly thanking Hawkins for the "promotion" and has eeringly already moved on from his mentors death. His arena bio also references that there is something about his psychological profile and he's had it before he recieved aumentation.
The Vespers are a colourful team. Minus Rusty, most of these asshats are career mercenaries more than willing to sabotage eachother to gain increased rank. Even though running the high energy firearm generator would give you the impression that these ACs would be powerful, they have a level of immaturity that is absent from the Redguns. But then again the entire corporation could be run by an AI as this was hinted at when that log stated that the PCA was the same.
They are quite the cast ha ha. Mind you i think without them the redguns would not have stood out as much. The very grounded group of normal people who ended up there vs the people who think they are clever and in the end seem to have done more harm to themselves then others.
I dunno man, Hawkins and Okeffe seemed to be decent enough people. As far as mercenaries go anyways. But this just makes Arquebus that much scummier using them up to the point of breaking their will.
yea I kinda glossed over those two. O'Keffe seems pretty chill but thats because he is suppose to be early gen augmentation, or the opposite of Snail@@mackybell14
The fact that someone as dangerous and arrogant as Snail would tolerate even just technically being Freud's subordinate tells you more than enough to be fucking terrified of him
Ha ha true, I like to think fraud is one of these bosses that sends all day in the garage and Snail has to keep doing his paperwork for me because he would say something but fraud would just ignore him.
theres a theory going around that O'Keeffe may have had pro-RLF sympathies, which may have been why he was willing to work as a double agent for Allmind before he realized what its plan actually entailed and why he seems to have had a connection with Rusty specifically. The main spark for this theory is him using a Ransetsu, a gun heavily associated with the RLF, as his main weapon when we know that using kinetic weapons at all is unusual for Vespers.
Still the craziest thing to me is how freud in a job thats full of augmented humans is just a regular dude and is the best of any of them wild to truly think about how he manages to pilot with no issues
I think Patar is meant to have a split-personality-disorder, considering his AC’s name. Taking into account his bio I think this is how it happened, Patar was an uncaring person, but when he received his augmentation surgery, he developed a second personality that was more compassionate.
Sure however i am not that knowledgeable in the disorder and i would hate to label a character only to find out it was not the case and its just how he is.
@ZenithAstral His arena bio in the game does mention that he's had this lack of empathy since before the surgery. You are correct that his compassion is a kind of second nature and augmentation surgery can give psychological side effects. But the wording on the bio and that Pater is written to be a generation ten, reported to be the pinnacle for preserving the patients humanity is what makes me disagree with the detail it was caused by the surgery. I have seen others write that it could be high-functioning-sociopathy or a form of psychopathy but split-personality is also on the table for it being the case.
@@armoredcorelore It is possible that there are specifically 2 personalities - one that is more jovial and kind to the player and the other Vespers (the Pater that seems genuinely affected by Hawkins or O'Keeffe's death), and another that is more opportunistic and cunning (the Pater that schemes to use their deaths as a way to climb the corporate ladder in their immediate aftermath). Assuming this is the case, I wonder if Pater was chosen as Arquebus' mercenary liaison because his "good" personality is completely genuine when being nice and courteous to the mercs while his "bad" personality is in on the various plots to screw them over - you can't tell he's lying because he is literally telling the truth.
From what I’ve been able to tell, Nightfall - the real Raven whose name you took from the prologue - is supposed to be AC6’s Nineball. Besides the names sounds similar when pronounced, Nightfall is tough and isn’t fought alone when you go down the “Liberator of Rubicon” or “Die is Cast” endings. But what’s different is that unlike Nineball usually being armed with state of the art AC parts, Nightfall’s frame is almost similar to the starting prologue robot you start off with. It’s basically telling you that even with trash parts, he’s still tough and likely will kill a first time AC player the first couple of times.
V.I Freud = The guy who loves to FIGHT. V.II Snail = The bossy bully you love to HATE. V.III O.Keefe = The guy with a MYSTERY. V.IV Rusty = The guy who is your best BUDDY. V.V Hawkins = The guy who knows how to be DADDY. V.VI Maeterlinck = The poor girl that gets left BEHIND. V.VII Swinburne = The guy you love to BULLY. V.VIII Pater = The guy with the split PERSONALITY.
I feel like Pater's AC gives us a good insight into his mind. Dual Nature; a traumatized child, not ready for war, but also, a bloodthirsty nepotarch, climbing the Arquebus ladder using his comrades' corpses as rungs. I personally believe this bloodthirsty side to Pater is a mix of a few things; Combat Stress, Coral Augmentation on someone not battle-hardened, and a surface-level understanding of Arquebus' seedy underbelly. Hes like if Allelujah Haptism from g00 let his Perfect Soldier self, Hallelujah, take more of the reigns, for a cause thats infinitely less just.
@@KABLAMMATSI'm pretty sure later augments still use coral, but not in the same way; something about 5 and 6 being the modernization gens, and them all dying from the coral, makes me think that all forms of augmentation require coral, but the older ones used either more, or a different method, allowing for syncing
@@divineterabyte5181 The game does hint that augmentation surgery originated in RII before the fires of ibis since they already were dabbling in linking man and machine together with the Ephemera AC frame project and coral in general, but at the time it was extremely crudely implemented with no consideration of the human mind's limitations.
One thing of note about Pater, he survives till the die is cast no matter what since he is the one giving commands during Escape. Another detail is that his rank changes depending on what missions you do, V6 if you don't ambush him and Hawkins, V5 if you do.
His attitude during the Escape mission also changes - he is much more inclined to give his own orders in seeming defiance of Snail if Hawkins is dead. It might be that he is either feeling vengeful for Hawkins' death at your and Flatwell's hands, or that his higher Rank makes him feel he could be a bit more bold.
Loving these videos. With most people focusing on Rusty, Iguazu, Snail, and Michigan, it's nice to see someone giving some spotlight time to the other AC6 pilots. O'Keefe is an entire mood.
Thank you for the kind words. Its certainly been a lot of fun and learning about these new charters of ac6 and yes i have to admit i recently had an O keefe mood ha ha.
A quiet nod to V.VII Swinburne's prevalent paranoia is the VE-44B head part. Supposedly, this head was designed to Swinburne's specifications, which is why it has scanning capabilities that could generally be seen as excessive. It seems he was killed or reeducated before the part could be finished however, which led to it being claimed by V.VIII Pater, ever-willing to claim what his fallen comrades leave available. On Pater, I do believe that he lacks empathy, but that doesn't mean his grief over the deaths of V.III and V.V is faked. They treated Pater well, and even if he doesn't care about them as individuals, he valued the kindness they showed him. But this doesn't last too long as he realizes he can claim their now vacant positions and influence.
A fair view on the man who seems to shift emotions and honestly i feel he is going to be different to everyone i will feel one way and other will feel another about him. Which is perfect, it makes it more interesting.
I can see why the rest are not exactly people you want to hang out with or can connect too. Snail is very much the idea of the big bad villain not that its a bad thing to be fair as sometimes we need a clear villain when fiction now tends to lean so heavy into the grey area of villains and heroes.
One thing I'm unsure about regarding the story is how it's determined whether destroying someone's AC kills them. G5 clearly survives having his AC destroyed multiple times, Rusty survives losing his AC in a fight as well, so does Snail, and Raven's handler's lines of "We'll watch this one, see where they go on a Raven's wings" implies that the real Raven survived their battle with 621, but there's also plenty of cases where the pilot is immediately called out as being dead once their AC goes down.
Sadly this one of the issue the whole series has suffered with. We have pilots who keep coming back and we have pilots who are killed once and that's it. Honestly i like to call it the how important to the story are you check, your examples are good shows of this. Rusty being the friendly pilot to 621 gets to live because he is needed to either make 621 feel a loss in the liberator path or be a fight in the fires of raven path as the friend you turned your back on for a belief. Snail is the evil character that 621 beats up again and again until his part in the story is done be it all mind or the liberator route and G5 is meant to be this rival character who keeps coming back to lose to 621 until he loses himself to become a monster. Yes death in an ac is perhaps one of the cases of hit and miss in the stories of armored core. For lore i try to go with what the game suggests so if the game makes it a point to be clear a person is dead they are and if they leave it open its better to be on the side of caution.
Im not sure if its purely an honorific but Hawkins does call Pater "Son" if the later is taken out first. It could be blood relations or it could be a casual nickname. Love the video as always!
@@armoredcorelore I'm doing a no OS tuning run at the moment to get the unique ng++ dialogue from Allmind so thatll be wonderful to listen to, thank you,
Honestly, I thought Freud was a joke and a jab at the trope of "Regular human competing and beating enhanced humans" because every time I met him in game he was ridiculously easy.
@@armoredcorelore I don' t mind myself, if anything I think the trope is terrible so it gave me a good chuckle. Regardless, quality video! I also really enjoyed the "What If" playthrough of AC4, wouldn't mind seeing more of those if it strikes your fancy.
@@EloquentiaSerpentis Fair enough i can understand that =) And thank you. Funny enough I am currently recording another of these videos for vero nork, so when that is done i hope to put it out and improve on the last one with the feedback i got.
Great video but I think there is a bit of incorrect information regarding Pater's fate. His voice is heard ordering the Arquebus troops during the Escape mission. This occurs regardless of whether the Ambush the Vespers mission was taken, in fact his rank actually changes to V5 in his announcement if Hawkins was killed.
I'm just now tackling your videos, having been a fan of AC since 2000. You are doing a wonderful job and you have a very articulate speaking voice. I'm grateful for your contributions. Thank you for helping new generations of AC fans tune in to the franchise's tremendous amount of lore.
This is very kind of you to say so thank you. I would always like to make improvement with videos, but i am glad to read people are enjoying them. It bring a smile to my face so thank you again.
Agreed. He is that i am totally evil character that ticks all the boxes of being evil but the va and the writing just make you go dam what a nasty guy. I want to punch him ha ha.
So the "Elites" of Arquebus can be summarized as, V1. A PvP player stuck in PvE V2. An Icon for the Insufferably vain / "posh discount Iguazu" V3. A Burnt-out Realist V4. Your double agent buddy V5. Fodder V6. Fodder "Female Edition" V7. A coward with a pocket book. V8. A sociopath? (and maybe the Patches archetype?). Thinking I'm going with the RedGuns on this one. I'd rather take G1 Barking orders than Snail's delusional sense of superiority any day of the week.
Thank you for the kind words. Honestly the numbers where good last month i won't lie. But this channel has always been my place to let my creative side out and have fun with a series i love so much. So I'll keep trucking till i can't no more ha ha.
I had your video lined up, and I had not tons of interest at first at all as I have found this information myself. But instantly I was thoroughly entertained by how you structured the video nonetheless, stuck the whole way through. Subscribed fs now. (Forgot to mention, your cadence was very nice to listen to as well, nice voice.
That is fair, i think a lot of this information is out there and it always a struggle sometimes thinking what i can bring to it. So i am happy to hear i managed to present it in an entertaining way and thank for the very nice compliment. It makes me smile.
Ah, another one construing bio's 'ordinary human being' line with "Freud is unaugmented." This isn't really what's being said when you actually take the line in context. Freud is, when compared to the speculation that he's a Gen+ like Snail with his many 'adjustments', an ordinary human being. That is to say his amazing combat aptitude isn't the result of insane levels of augmentation but the fact that he enjoys piloting his AC and the incremental increases of skill he sees as a result of his frequent sorties.
I think everyone is allowed to see it how they wish. For me however when i read this as i said i believe fraud is not augmented as the whole speculation part is just that speculation. Its the public and others trying to figure out why he is so strong after all he is rarely seen and not many of the other vespers talk about him. But what sells me more on this no augmented idea is when the bio says the real Freud which to me suggests arquebus has this public image they try to maintain for thier vesper leader and then we have the real fraud who is not like that at all. Again these are just my thoughts, but i appreciate the good read.
Ive always wondered what happened to freud and snail. In one ending you encounter and fight snail but never hear or see frued. In the other ending you just hear snail over the radio but he doesnt show up at all and you fight v1.
One must understand that proper use of the Vvc-760PR involves it's charged attack. It has such wide AOE that missing is somewhat difficult. Reconfig makes more sense once you utilize the charged shot.
Sorry for my English, my native language is Spanish, but here I come, I love your videos, but this video is amazing, my favorite vesper is sneil because of his way of speaking in the English dub is elegant and clam but him is a complete asshole xD my other vesper favorite is peter but now I know what peter is a complete psicopath, in the first time he is friendly for you but in the others mission show the him really face 😢
Thank you for your kind words and no apology needed as i think you write better in English then i do =) Ah Snail is one of these evil characters you can't help but love and hate right? He just screams i am evil. Love the guy and his English va for such good work. And you know i think pater being that way is what makes him so interesting and him trying to sound like Rusty ha ha. Credit again to the va for going with it.
@@rodrigodhein5641 if this was the case as you said above snail would have had parts from a divison of the corporation before they existed. As the assimilated of pca tech happens after the ice worm. After all the front did everything they could to make sure the corporations could not reverse engineer the pca tech before this.
@@armoredcorelore exactly, that's what was my understanding when I read the description of the part's, I thought it was an error from the developers of the game.
@@armoredcorelore I thought that ADD was supposed to be the division that was created using the PCA technology because of what I read on the description of the parts, but then Snail AC can be seen before the Ice worm fight which got me confused
The Vespers are a homage to me, currently finishing the 11th guide. Or a bastardization, as I'm a pretty much a scumbag corporation thanks to snail lol. I stay in character through out it and some of my later mission youtube videos (I went backwards on S ranks on the MT plant w/covert MTs, my thing is I usually post videos that are bad, so you can easily do it better,) it's a good read when finished, if you subscribe, remember this as I'm not actually this big of dick sober and in real life lol (I'll be adding S rank calculations as well.) I'll watch the video in a little bit, see what I could help you with ;) Sucks I was late to the party, but mission 3 was crazy for me, truely.
We do, look at all the wonderful lore videos we have now on youtube. Plus we have folks who run the wiki and everyone who's research help spread the lore of armored core.
