It's amazing how well FROM convey mood. When that first arm came off it made me pause and think 'wow it must be horrifying to go from some untouchable pinnacle of war to being totally outclassed and helpless, stuck inside a steel coffin'

What's gonna be brutal about this game is the mission reward money getting deducted, cause of the AC repairs and ammo refill costs after every successful mission.

@@laughingman7467 To be fair. in the last two generations of AC, you almost actively have to try to get a negative payout on almost any mission. So this way of doing things has been around longer than the Souls series itself.

So am new to armor core but i heard it simular to human+? And also the walter said the pc is a merc with a fried brain buying his way back to life

@@tango5thetargeted73 Human+ is if you get into a specific amount of debt you can opt into "unsanctioned" body modifications to clear that debt and start a new career as a raven. This is different and is more like a Space Marine Dreadnought where the pilot is being installed in the mecha as a component of the mecha rather than being a traditional pilot that gets in and out of the mech.

Armored Core has been around forever, they just haven't made a new one since they started Dark Souls.

@@zerosolis6664 yes? AC2 for Ps2 was the first game I owned. But mech games have been pretty much dead for a decade and the last AC game was over 10 years ago and was a sucky online only game.

That was my first thought too. I would be so excited for a feature length movie or a series with this quality. This is stunning.

I technically think the animation came from Bandai Namco. But I don't know if FromSoft has an in-house animation studio. I thought they got their cinematics from a third party, but I could be wrong.

Rewatching the early gameplay trailer again. It seems like this is us "Augmented Human C4-621" This might be how Walter got us.

621 is us, but the AC in the collector's edition and the one from the first trailer, Nightfall, is different. Elden Ring collector's edition had a Malenia figure, and "Nightfall" sounds kind of like "Nineball", AC that has been the final boss of many classic AC games before. Fromsoft is cooking something, and i like it.

for a second I thought we were 219, the first mech to be obliterated. Because you could totally see FromSoft going; "Oh, you thought you were the cool mech doing the awesome on fools? SIKE, you the pleb that got smashed before the fight even started!"

Looking closer at the trailer it seems like it was downloading the memory of the mission as it was told into the new mech if anything it’s more akin to 9ball than anything

Also the game is called ac: FIRES of rubicon, knowing Fromsoftware it can't be a coincidence

@@snarbysnarbolax good point, the references to Rome is fairly prevalent, even with what little we have. Something to consider when the game finally drops.

I know people don't like Souls being mentioned, but I'd be astounded, if they didn't adopt aspects of its environmental storytelling. Just look at the page with the stickers in the collectibles, there is one logo with a lobotomy needle inserted in a head. Then look at the trailer, the "pilot-thing" has a needle going into its head as well. What does it mean? No clue yet, but it's exactly the kind of thing that keeps Souls and Elden Ring games relevant in the lore community for years and years. And I love From for it. They are incredibly meticulous with details and then leave a lot to be discovered by the players instead of spoon feeding every idea they've ever had so we stupid monkeys don't miss it.

Armored Core has always had grim, hopeless stories like this. 4 onwards actually were very story heavy, but butchered by terrible localizations.

I could see them drawing from their experience with Sekiro too, having more scripted moments and storytelling during the missions. After all, the project lead on this game was formerly the lead designer on Sekiro.

Well they most certainly delivered in that regard.

There isn't a damn thing in that room that doesn't... just a couple monsters pushing "product"...

Voice acting is okay. The dialogue is kinda cringe. Cringe dialogue is pretty much FromSoftware's charms at this point.

Well, we don't have the full context of these events. But the way it usually goes in these games is that most pilots aren't fighting till the end and sacrificing themselves for some noble goal. Instead most of the time they're doing a high risk job for some faceless corporation and putting their lives on the line out of sheer desperation because they REALLY need the money. And I doubt this new game will be very different.

@@gvulture1277nah I teared up a bit too. The feeling of being seen as sub human yet being a badass in war, loosing allies and pushing on without letting loss get to you just to sacrifice yourself in a badass way for people that don’t care about you is sad as fuck.

If you're able to find some copies of the older games, try to purchase Armored Core IV, Armored Core: For Answer, or Armored Core lll: Silent Line. I've never played ACSL, but AC4 and ACFA blew me away.

Armored Core it's the franchise that put FROMSOFT in big companies radar after the first game companies like Capcom and Bandai Namco hired FROMSOFT for their mecha games. It's also the second FROMSOFT franchise and the first popular one, it's older than Dark Souls

@@IDIDIDIO Pretty much apocalyptic,dystopia as any other Fromsoft IP. Only difference its a sci-fi mecha,private military etc, big corpos fighting.

Nothing complex really in terms of story.You are just a mecha pilot go and complete missions.Repeat.
