Some pollaxe sparring from an armored training afternoon. This time I let Chris wear my early 15th century harness (with the recent addition of a fauld), and I put on my HEMA gear and we both tried to see how it was to fight in and against armor.
I apologize for the audio, it was a windy day and the wind eventually blew my camera tripod over, so that's the reason it ends so abruptly. You don't need audio for a video like this, though, do you?
We're treating the armor as armor and the swords as swords. We are therefore only counting thrusts to soft targets and blows and pommel strikes to the head and such. Fencing masks, sparring gloves, gambesons, and modern HEMA gear count as no armor.

So, are you building up your suit so that it covers the whole body, i.e. the back plate, the piece that covers the stomach and the back of the legs? Great vid btw :)

Yes, the next things I'm adding are some maille and then some greaves. I also need to re-do the spaulders because they are way too big and are completely independent of the arm harness (they just flop around, and you'll notice that one falls off towards the end of the video). A backplate would be nice too.

You ever try your hand at making some of your own kit? Its not terribly hard, and its quite satisfying to have your own custom fitted kit! Plus its pretty cheap too! I started my first full kit of armor (1430s kastenbrust) in February, and while I ended up snagging a used set of SCA 3/4 legs and a close helm (I removed the bar grill in favor of something vaguely historic), I now have everything but my arms done with almost zero prior experience.

Shaladar Armored Combat that’s awesome! I have indeed done a little bit of armoring myself. The fauld you see in this video I made myself and attached it to an off-the-shelf breastplate. I plan on doing more work like that, maybe some new spaulders or greaves
