I could fill my This is the Way Wednesday posts every week for years bragging about our Star Wars costuming groups; I have gotten to tag along to a handful of children’s hospital visits in my time as The Armorer, and it never ceases to amaze me how readily they spring into action when the call goes out.
I knew I was going to be in Charlottesville, VA for two weeks and merely mentioned to James of 501st Garrison Tyranus that I’d like to join them for a hospital visit, and soon after everything was arranged.
Our costume clubs brave crowds, extreme weather (it was in the 90s in C-ville that day) and the task of lugging around big ol’ costumes in order to brighten the day of kiddos and adults in need. Thank you to all of you for your joy in showing up so selflessly, and thank you specifically to Garrison Tyranus and Freedom Base Rebel Legion for letting me tag along for your visit to The UVA Children’s Hospital last week.
We visited three different floors of kiddos - I was especially delighted to assist a sweet gal named Montana who was coloring an R2-D2 picture. When I told her about R2-KT’s pink stylings, her face lit up and she immediately went to work to give her droid some pink flourishes.
Thanks too to @vtf for assisting in getting my Armorer (custom made by @bigbret50) shipped to Charlottesville!
