My words right there 👆🏼 I don’t need to write that now. But just that remember many of this guys has steroids heads and they can’t see further than their own nose, so they don’t think about “history”. Well said Ray! Of course it’s something cool and significant, the ones who says opposite go back to the gym and lock yourself there because that’s all your life is based on, and leave the logistic and reasoning to the right ones.
I think you are right about the "30 years from now" thing. Anytime anyone has ever in person seen a "piece of history" there is a feeling you get in that moment. I think people are concerned about drama right now. In 30 years, when everyone looks at that hammer they will not talk about the drama, but what it represents.
10 years later, the hammer will be completely fotgotten while Morozov will lose it during the building a new toilette. That´s how much it is "important" for easy europe athlete. lol nobody cares. And because there will be no left handed champ from west europe..... bye bye legacy hammer.
@@KrakenKraken-j5iWest Europe no longer has a top 1 standing in the world. They’re all victims of the true West and they all fall to the Georgians as well. Let it go, your time is past little one
Well spoken, coach. I love the hammer idea. It's a great piece of history exclusively for the armwrestling community. It's great that it was created by Devon - just shows how much his heart is in it. Imagine 20 years from now, the new wave of armwrestlers - they look at this like a WWE title belt. It's coveted, it will become an objective for newer and more upcoming pullers. I call this motivation for all the right reasons - so that your name can be etched into history with the greats
It's literally written in the message that hammer is supposed to move on from champ to champ. how are Denis fangirls claiming that the hammer is just a gift for Denis to keep it his whole life?
Nobody is saying that. The problem is trying to force Denis to defend the hammer, attacking him and calling him a "thief" or "enemy of the sport" when they PERFECTLY KNOW Denis won't be able to pull any time soon. I agree that Denis should have pass the hammer if he wasn't planning to defend it, but to whom? and when? did anyone even care before the Devon thing? You guys are trying to make Denis look like he is keeping the hammer for "his whole life" when his last match was cancelled just 5 months ago.
@@paoloose He had no intention of giving it away he thought it was a gift. what on earth are you talking about? He is being disrespectful. when someone gives you something with a written letter at least get it translated properly or communicate with Devon to clear things up. Him failing to do all that for 5 years is what got Devon calling him a thief which he is.
Its a nice piece of memorabilia especially when you have the video proof to go along with it to who did what. If youtube is still around in 100 years people can go back and look.
you don't have to like Devon to respect this concept. he gave up his proudest trophies of the past and passed them on to the strongest people he faced and respected. you don't have to like devon to honor that and pass them on as well.
I've always loved the idea of the Legacy Hammer and basically agree with everything you said, other than I don't think we should go back in the past adding names because it then blurs the line of when Legacy started and if I'm not mistaken John is already on there. Plus Michael and Marcio for Right. Left handed Travis doesn't care and already has 4 left hammers.
What I find funny is that whenever some drama happens in the community, how people love to put the blame on Engin even when the man has nothing to do with it. 😂
I think changes doesn’t mean replacing the item with something else. The base has to be the hammer but it can be modified if I’m not mistaken (I don’t know anything just my interpretation)
Coach Ray, I appreciate your thoughtful explanation. The concept behind the legacy hammer is fantastic. It's unfortunate how something as simple as a language barrier can complicate communication between people. It's disheartening when others speak negatively about Denis, but I trust things will settle down and mutual understanding will be reached. It's encouraging to see that in the evolving world of armwrestling, there are grounded individuals like yourself who handle things with clarity and composure. Best wishes!
it's about being part of the same family and passing down your family's legacy. those part of the family should hold great esteem for one's role or duty of passing it on. it's like the BMF belt of arm wrestling. period.
I really like the idea of the hammer staying with the person that won it from when they won it, and if or when they are beaten another hammer should be made to be given to the new winner, much like the lineal boxing champion.
The Legacy Hammer is important because it supersedes any organization. We've seen many of them come and go over time, although I would like the East vs. West and King of The Table Promotions to last. It shows who is the current best, giving responsibility to the holder to seek out the best. I think that is a noble pursuit, no matter what else happens. The names should be on there forever if we trust and do it right. When Dennis returns the hammer, I trust he will have put his name on it. WAL needs to come off, and the word Legacy put on. This much time since WAL folded, means a WAL title holds less and less 'value'. But this will always hold value.
A legacy hammer is a brilliant idea and something that would be a great honor for any arm wrestler to hold for some period of time until they can no longer defend it.
Travis has like 5 hammers. One is with his dad’s casket. Devon has the 225 weight class mullet. The super heavy weight has bigger hammers, and Travis still has them…
Someone should make a replacement Hammer . Put the old champions names on it with an Asterix * next to there name. Because they didn’t actually have it . Then do a super match with the current top two guys , the winner gets it , and starts what Devon intended for the original .
At some point the hammers will not fit all of the names so it would need to be changed for something else, like a plaque or something. With a plaque you can write on both sides of it as well if needed.
you can have names wrapping around the handle down in a row, which means it would take a very long time for this to get full and then u can just make it a bit bigger
Please explain tired of watching ppl saying shanannigans about the hammer when they dont even know what the hammer is about. And explain it in russian too cause the most of them are clueless and once they hear the name Cyplenkov they turn into zombies defending Denis. I love Denis but if he dont defend it just vacate it. Comon sense became so rare in these days its painfull to watch ✌ Thanks to all that become this possible i mean the hammer being active again, respect 👏 I dont see any sport with such thing as a legacy hammer to me it can be a unique and beautifull thing in this sport.
8:09 Lol i really thought you have the denis hammer. I was thinking did he give it to you. Then at i saw written 0-165 right hand. So basically you have the under 75kg hammer 😂😂😂. Anyway nice video loved the concept
There also was a massive misunderstanding between Devon and Levan before their match. Turns out Devon is far too quick to jump to conclusions, and often isn’t the most reasonable person leading up to matches.
I like the idea that it’s passed back and forward like the Calcutta Cup but I think a lot of these sentiments from Devon were expressed after he gave it to Denis, not before. Also it seems like the “rules” should have been written down beforehand. For example if Denis dies whilst holding it, then what happens? Do they just make up that rule at the time? There’s also the issue that the hammer is from WAL which doesn’t sit well with current promotions. Best option is just make a new trophy and lay down the rules for it in advance.
Here's the easy solution: Devon won a giant sword when he won against Monster Todd at KOTT. Make that sword the new legacy item. Establish concrete rules about the purpose and how it should be passed between athletes.
@@voiceofarmwrestling True the hammer is cool and does decide who the man is but I just mean a cool black tie ceremony for EvW once a year a big night like it was in Orlando but world legends too of course you could involve things like match of year award, Arm fighter of the year etc you know. I enjoy your content great work, I'm just starting out in Arm Wrestling myself it's an addictive sport, much respect Coach 💚
I really think the WAL should be removed from the hammer. Keep it agnostic since things will change except all the names of the champions and whatnot :) Or simply create a new one and start anew now. I do think though, every chamption should get a Hammer to keep forever, and there should also be a Legacy hammer. Like the UFC for example, they each get one to keep, they dont actually pass the belt.. But I would like to see the hammer passed around, and also each champion get a replica with the names currently on the Legacy at the time it is won
i think its funny that denis probably just thought it was a regular gift, not paying attention to all this western banter, and is like "larrat want to take back gift? not good man...in russia we call that a balakaspat."
Artyom will only accept it because of Enging lol. Most of the armwrestlers didn't really care Denis had it until Devon started this drama. It's a legacy forced upon the community. It just goes to show the level of influence Devon has.
At first the hammer idea was cool. Now I see it as a symbol of the power that the fame of a single athlete has over a sport that is currently not so well known.
There's also a clause that if you retire, you don't keep the hammer you pass it on. The hammer needs to be continuously in motion. If you get injured and you're out for a year, you should also pass the hammer on. The way you would any other title
There’s literally nothing in writing anywhere in which to insert a clause. When you say “clause” I assume you mean “Devon said”. (Which I agree with by the way)
why he have WAL hammer? there are 14 hammers 4 for males Super heavy weight (R Levan) Heavy weight (L Denis) Mid Light 3 for females Heavy Mid Light Right now we are missing too many hammers because everyone is holding them like Gollum.
this is logical at 100% but the things is Larratt decided to play that cheap game of bad words before the last Event, Denis was mad and i can understand why! So Devon started poking Denis with the Hammer and again insulting him for absolutly nothing. We all know that if Devon had acted in a good way at their last meeting, that thing wouldn't happened...so in my mind all that shit is due to Larratt. Plus it's a huge lack of respect towards Denis health.
RU-vid algorithm boosting comment 💪 ... youtube.com/@engin_terzi Engin addressed what will happen with the hammer from Denis, check it out. and it seemed like Denis actually likes that hammer too. i would like to see a replica where everyone signs the hammer to show how much we value Denis. i think that would be awesome too.
Devon was right but the way he did it was wrong in so much levels. Denis probably respected devon so much but after what devon did? I don't know anymore
If Morozov’s left was healthy and Devon didn’t have to be 105kg for the Petrenko match, it would be good to see Devon vs Morozov on left arm at EvW15 added. You couldn’t ask for a better buildup.
Devon didn't train his left with weights or 6 years and just after Levan he starting training his left, so it's too soon. It would be 99% Morozov would win. Devon needs another year to try to win left hand title
I posted something like this on Engin's "Hammer Subject" video but somehow I couldn't find it. So here it goes again: As tangible as the hammer/gaunlet legacy is, it doesn't serve the sport much. Gamification reward system is more interesting to be implemented, whereby level-up points can be collected and redeemed to even out the playing field @ handicap, especially for the open category.
Engins Move to devalue the Hammers, by making his Gauntlet feels incredibly scummy. If it is about branding, remove the WAL logo. The Legacy Item should not be tied to a specific competition. Having no LOGOS would fix that.
This is the issue of giving opinions that are not validated… This POV, isn’t exactly the situation, nor the instructions Devon left both Denis and Levan… best let Devon do the talking here and not add NOISE to an already sensitive issue…
I'll tell you what the current situation is! You now have become the official owner of the left-handed Legacy hammer😂 if Devon wants it back, he needs to come and get it.
I think the legacy hammer is an awesome idea and i dont know why people wont get on board. Engin doesn't like it because it didnt come from his organization. I like engin and appreciate what hes done but man he hates on every other organization and any idea that is not his own.
Put it simple - denis and his friends need to learn some basic English and translate the letter (after all these years) to the language that denis understands (oh wait, elementary russian?)
