30:28 The Rescue Ranger's main purpose is protecting your sentry gun, with the healing bolts letting you heal it from a distance, along with the ability to grab your sentry from a distance at the cost of 100 metal. The gunslinger's mini sentry is meant to be highly disposable, meaning you have to worry a lot less about protecting it since you can just rebuild it once it's destroyed. Running them together means your trying to protect something that isn't meant to be protected. It just leaves you weaker than before.

Well said. Personally I've used the combo once or twice as a weird "troll the gunslinger engie" on koth maps. Good fun, guaranteed hate messages on my steam profile every time. Edit: I'll elaborate the troll strat Step 1: use the rescue ranger to snipe enemy mini sentries Step 2: spam mini sentries back Step 3: watch mini spammer go DH soldier Step 3: go back to my regularly scheduled class and... we all go back to having fun. Doesn't work all the time, but it's a nice feeling when it does.

34:21 “Ninjaneering” is a term uncle dane uses to describe using the engineer as a flank class to troll the enemy team. This is especially effective when you use the Eureka Effect as it allows you to teleport either to your spawn or to your teleporter exit, even if it is off. A disabled teleporter is hard to notice, and as such makes it a great tool for sneaking behind the enemy team

So just to inform you of what the rescue ranger is, it is an engineer primary weapon that has a unique mechanic where it can heal buildings from afar with its projectiles,it has 4 shots instead of 6,16 reserved ammo instead of 32,and of you right click with it, if a building is sight, it will teleport the building into your arms to place it down later, however is does 60 damage at point blank range instead of 90,and its a projectile instead of hitscan

"Ninjaneering" is a name for being a sneaky engineer and hiding a teleporter somewhere behind enemy lines to teleport yourself or even your entire team behind the enemy. It's not very practical due to how difficult slipping past the entire enemy team can be but when it works it's hilarious. You'll also often see people do this with a teleporter near the enemy team's spawn and then teleport in a level 3 sentry to spawncamp.
@tanienygb
@tanienygb 2 года назад
32:22 Ninjaneers use a wrench called "The Eureka Effect". Basically a wrench focused on teleporters. There's a specific ability where you can teleport to your exit teleporter or spawn. This even works when there's no entry teleporter and there's no animation. So you can hide your teleporter relatively easily. Being able to teleport to the enemy flank AND able to teleport back to spawn. It's kind of strong but still a meme

21:00 yes and no. Though 40mm grenades do, more often than not, have a minimum arming distance, meaning that the won't *explode* if they hit you, they're still moving at ridiculous speeds. Speeds with which they can easily tear through a human torso. If I remember correctly, the channel Garand Thumb already made a video demonstrating the power of a "minimun arming distance" 40mm grenade against a dummy with ballistic jel.

This is a list of situations i noticed that MHGR just didnt understand what was going on to the fullest, as I can see 9:53 - this area is a flank route, and if the (BLU) scout were able to take control of the area, the defending team (RED) would have a more difficult time defending the objective (the payload cart) 30:30 - The Rescue Ranger is a common primary weapon used with engineers that will build leveled sentries, and generally play in a sentry nest, as the rescue ranger is a primary that shoots bolts that will heal your gun from any range, and is much less effective when using mini sentries, as they will go down quickly, and the Rescue Ranger has very little damage compared to shotguns 34:20 - Ninjaneering is a rare tactic used by engineers using the Eureka Effect, a wrench that allows the engineer to teleport to spawn or his teleporter exit at will, including if the exit is deactivated, allowing you to hide the teleporter before the round starts, and if you get lucky, the enemy team wont notice, and you can teleport right behind their backs, and get a key pick (pick is another term for kill)

1:17 You have the Proof of Purchase hat? I think that's the only all-class military looking helmet in the game but I could be wrong. There's literally hundreds of cosmetics. 9:57 It's a flank route that provides access to some windows that enemies can use to fire from, whether it be at your team or at a potential sentry nest location. That room is located right at the last point in that particular map. So, it's an engineer who's covering the team's backs by operating in an area commonly used for flanking by some of the other classes. 21:15 Except in a good portion of FPS games. Something that absolutely should be considered is how certain weapons pair with one another. Dane discusses it in his three stock weapon videos, which I’d suggest reacting to for more Engineer info, but some weapons work much differently than others. In particular: Widowmaker and Pistol: the former expends metal, so the Pistol is used as a back up in case you run out of metal. Short Circuit: not recommended to pair with Widowmaker, since both expend metal, and no metal basically means death. Panic Attack: more consistent shots than stock Shotgun, so more common in most situations, aside from ones using the other shotguns (see “Stock Engineer: THE SHOTGUN”, or “The Panic Attack is Good, Actually”). Wrangler: manual control of sentry, and large boost to attack speed and defense, in exchange for repair rate and cool down once disengaged; Rescue Ranger: long distance repair of sentry health and grabbing buildings, in exchange for damage against players, metal when hauling buildings, and the Marked for Death effect (increased damage while affected, or mini crits) Frontier Justice and Pistol: Crits are very obvious, so holding the Pistol until an enemy gets close can prove fatal for that enemy, while pumping one-to-two crit-boosted shots. The Pistol's high rate of fire and large ammo source also pairs well with the lower clip size of the Frontier Justice.

I mostly play pyro and one of the best things against engie is to use their sentries against them. A level 3 sentry shoots rockets at you, and as a pyro you can reflect projectiles. You can use these rockets to reflect them back at the sentry, the engineer, or their teammates. Engies that are aware of this may keep their sentry at level 2 or use the wrangler to manually control when the rockets are used. Generally fighting a full engie nest is tough as pyro, but you do have methods to fight and even solo them. An uber wouldn't hurt though. Oh and keep in mind that alone the sentry rockets that you reflect back won't take down the sentry fully. It usually ends up being around half health. So either you damage the sentry first by yourself or help from teammates or you could reflect them back at the engie first so you can more slowly take down the sentry from behind cover as the engie won't be there to repair it.
@drunkdrag0n
@drunkdrag0n 2 года назад
Additional helping hand: use the airblast on a rocket and aim it at your feet. You can rocket jump in a direction to push for an attack or escape if the situation is getting too hot. You can use the detonator to a lesser degree, though 25 damage per detonator "jump" might not be worth it to get to cover quick or go for a health kit not too far away.
@mooncalf_4534
@mooncalf_4534 2 года назад
Reflected sentry rockets do 90 damage so you need 3 to kill the 240hp level 3. The engi restores the HP too quickly so you have to hit him with the rockets first. Unfortunately they usually don't one-shot him either, so it's a real nightmare.
@drunkdrag0n

@@drunkdrag0n Yeah you can only really do it if there are no other enemies and a huge range so you can back in and out of sentry range over and over. Preferably also with a hp pack nearby. Even then I'd honestly usually rather just reflect jump over the sentry with the rockets than try to kill it. Can get behind their team from there and the sentry's probably not going to turn fast enough to shoot you.

One relevant piece of information when you pick a sentry position. It's maximum target range. If the open area is too large, it will be shot down from outside it's target range. (Engi has a tool that lets him manually aim and target the sentry manually. So if you don't know what the engi is using, these sentries might not be harmless. I think this tool replaces their main weapon. I don't remember, but the important part is that it exist.)

10:00 well, there is some strategic points: the health and ammo packs that lays right after the stairway, so if the enemy want to get supplied they need to fight a sentry. And, if they just gave up on it, they will get less health and ammo, so allies get less damage, more brakes and have to deal less damage to destroy their enemies, so, yeah, that's the choke point
@Moss_Dude

A lot of these Sentry positioning analysis things you were doing at the start were technically pretty accurate, but it was kinda missing the point of what Uncle Dane was saying. The main thing is, you were assuming that the sentry was already armed and ready to shoot, when in fact it was just placed and still needed a few seconds to build. The main point Uncle Dane was making was that placing them forces the enemy to either shoot the sentry before it can arm itself and start shooting them, or shoot you but risk the sentry completing its construction and finishing them off.

7:24 you were not listening, the idea there is to use the sentry as a distraction to kill the scout, after that it doesnt matter if it protects anything, its just a temporary tool to survive that 1v1.10:03 that stairs are a dead end. 30:38 He is using the mini sentry, a version of thes entry that is weaker but cheaper, basically a replaceable version of it that allows you to be more combat oriented; but that engi is using it with a rescue ranger, a shotgun that sacrifices most of your damage output to keep your buildings alive. Ninjaneer is the practice of using a wrench called the Frontier Justice (which rapidly teleports you to your teleporter exit) and rapidly placing said exit in a location that the enemy team will pass soon - preferably in a concealing piece of terrain or a spot out of line of sight from essential terrain (the capture point or the payload track). This will allow you to teleport behind the enemy lines and shotgun down the vulnerable classes (medic and sniper mostly) before they realize you're there. It also has a delaying action effect, as once the enemy team catches on to the fact that you're being a ninjaneer, they will divert teammates to destroy your teleporter - which means they will be spending less time contesting the essential terrain.

Ninganeer is when you go behind the enemy lines as the engineer
@richardkirkland6805
@richardkirkland6805 4 месяца назад
The reason why Uncle Dane is talking about TF2 as if everyone is as well versed as he is is because his tutorials are for experienced, competitive TF2 players. And as far as I know, ninjaneering is basically being stealthy as an engineer, such as using your Sentry gun to get to a high vabtage point, or using the Eureka Effect, a special Wrench, to instantly teleport to a hidden teleporter behind enemy lines.
@Resetium
@Resetium Год назад
The reason Uncle Dane was all confused as to why someone was using the Rescue Ranger with Mini-Sentries (aka the melee-slot Gunslinger) is because the former is focused on keeping your sentry alive, whereas the latter is focused on using the sentry as a disposable support element for you and you alone. The Rescue Ranger is a defensively-focused shotgun (with approximately one offensive use, that being in combination with Sentry-Jumping to quickly bring your sentry to an elevated, forward position), whereas the Gunslinger is a full offensive melee weapon, being the core of the "Battle Engineer" subclass. Also, a comment on what the hell "ninjaneering" is: The melee-slot item "The Eureka Effect" has a special ability that, upon being charged and activated, teleports you either to spawn (if you're not in spawn) or to your teleporter exit (if you're in spawn), *regardless of whether or not said teleporter is functioning.* This lets you be much sneakier with your teleporter placement, at the cost of others being unable to use said teleporter. An inactive teleporter doesn't produce any effects, making it much easier to hide in foliage, but still allows you to silently teleport to it via the Eureka Effect. A well known example of ninjaneering is when Uncle Dane recorded himself sentry-jumping (ie bouncing off his sentry's rockets/bullets) above the enemy spawn, placing a teleporter, and abusing the Eureka Effect to silently teleport above the enemy spawn, send some shotgun blasts into the backs of the enemy team, die, and immediately jump back in the fray.

Man I'm honestly surprised how many combat vets /don't/ play Planetside 2. Maybe its too hard? maybe its too real? I dunno. but its the ONLY game out there where you're really fighting a "war" and not a "match." 3 factions, 300 plays per faction per continent, NO lobbies, you log in, it plops you down on a continent, and your mission is to go forth and conquer. once the continent is conquered you get plopped down on another one with you 300 factionmates and 600 enemies (again, split between two opposing factions) and it just repeats. Fights are huge, long, youve go combined arms (a good selection of vehicles and aircraft with different roles to play.) Squads and Platoons to join or lead, Outfits(think guilds) for more consistent cohesion. A lot of people say the game is dead because its old but I'm here to tell you its still alive and very much kicking, don't believe what the haters say. Because I'm not biased I'll warn you about a couple things though: The new player experience is not stellar, even though theyve been working on it. You get no handicaps. There is no matchmaking (you will be fighting people who've been playing since release, almost ten years ago.) Your vehicles specifically will not be competitive until you can upgrade them; however the good news is the default guns are in most cases the best and all other guns are sidegrades for specialization. Zergfits (outfits that rely on numbers rather than strategy) are common but again, the good news is that theyre only really a problem on nights when they actually run ops. Vehicle muzzle velocity, specifically on tanks, has suffered for a long time since a huge nerf many years ago. As a new player you may not even notice or care. And finally, as a streamer, you will likely have a very hard time with streamsniping. BUT despite all this, if you're able to power through the "new player" phase, you will be rewarded with a game that to this day, ten years after release, still has not been matched in scale or freedom.

21:21 91 Fox here, I'm not entirely certain about RPGs, but I know MK19 Grenades have this Arming Distance, though can't remember the exact distance. They have a Pin inside that Loosens up to Arm the grenade, and it loosens as it spins, so the grenade is Armed and ready out the barrel... Which means if it gets stuck inside the Barrel and EOD is on break, you're gonna have an Anxious time being next to a Barrel with a Live Grenade stuck in it ready to explode at the smallest tap of that Trigger Tip

Hey, MHGR, you talked about pyro, so I'm gonna give you a little advice that I learned about pyro that helps me get more kills without dying. DO. NOT. W+M1. INTO. THE. ENEMY. I cannot stress this enough, use your FLANKS. PLEASE. FLANK. If you can get to a place where enemy isn't expecting you, (or better yet, behind them), you can get to them and burn the shit out of their back. By the time they turn around, you're halfway into turning them into ash.

since you asked which games you should play next year, i think one game series you might enjoy is the Advance Wars series. its a tactical, turn based strategy game and since you're usually pretty keen on shining with irl military strats i feel like this would be the perfect game for you to apply them to. and the best part: the first two games of this series will be receiving a reboot in early 2022! maybe go and check them out when you got the time for it, i can only recommend them ^^

For navigating RU-vid, sometimes (it used to be more often) if you had a different part of your browser window selected, things like the arrow and space keys wouldn't work at controlling the video player. You can use the keys J, K, and L to rewind 10 secs, pause, and move forward 10 secs, respectively, no matter what is selected in your browser. So instead of trying to click and drag the little video location thing to a certain spot, you can just hit J to go back 10 seconds, or tap it twice to go back 20, etc. Most of the time the arrow keys and space bar work fine nowadays, especially when the video is full screen, but I still use JKL a lot of the time. You can actually change your settings in RU-vid such that the arrow keys will track 5 seconds and J and L will track 10 seconds, so if you need to go back just a few words or something you hit left, and to go back further to the previous sentence or whatever you hit J. Hope that helps for doin' it live. Thanks for listening to my PSA

When you play a new game for the first time it’s really brutal because you’re up against players who know the terrain and are like experienced fighters. As examples when I played Insurgency for the first time I was constantly walking into concealed machine gun positions. The game has no kill cam so most of the time you don’t know where you got shot from and by what. Same with call of duty Warzone. The best I could do when I was new was listen for bullets, how long it would take to impact my position and guess where they could be coming from. Then I would pray I find them in likely areas where an ambush would be set up or that I could see their muzzle flash.

what's interesting is i remember overlooking the sheer importance of corners in firefights before i started watching more csgo related content. truth is, seeing how a counter strike round plays out isn't too far off from tf2, just a lot slower and methodical (of course). staying behind a wall or a corner really gives you time to calm down and think out your flank/push

24:31 hearing this stings a bit, however since you are unfamiliar with many of the subclasses that Tf2 has to offer, this seems like a good time to bring out my professor’s cap and lay down all the threatening different play styles I know of. Trolldier - these guys are mostly joking around, they will always have the market gardener equipped along with the rocket jumper and only attack using the crit shovel. While they don’t see them in serious games or take the game seriously at all, they can be deadly on the battlefield considering a critical melee hit can one shot most classes in the game. Pybro - these guys stick close to an engineer friend and defends his partners nest with his life. Put this guy in top priority for taking down a sentry nest as he will NOT allow any harm onto it otherwise Demo knight - the most mobile and tanky subclass, these guys with charge anyone who isn’t a heavy without mercy and cut your team to ribbons if not careful. As a fellow pyro main, air blast is your best friend on dealing with these guys do to the amount knockback preventing him from getting in melee range. Fat scout - more of a joke than anything, these heavies will forsake their miniguns, only use their shotgun and fists to take you out. For countering the guys, stay a decent distance away to take them out. Battle engie - these Texans will roam the map, relying on their self preservation with a shotgun with the mini sentry as a backup. not much to talk about since vs engineer is in the video. Huntsman sniper - opting to use a bow and arrow, snipers with the weapon equipped travel more often and can and will headshot if you’re careless. If you see the guy, burst him down before he can even shoot or time an airblast to reflect the arrow into his own head. Gun spy - as most spies use their knife, this subclass will only use their revolver which is often the headshotting ambassador. Normally dodging wil usually keep you safe,p, but don’t forget he still has that one shot backstab at his disposal.

I know I’m late here but if you somehow see this MHGR your hull-down example is perfect for the heavy. Due to the game’s code heavy’s actual bullets shoot from his face, like the turret on a tank. So experienced heavies will purposefully find places with high cover that they can see over and shoot over it even though their mini gun and and most of their hitbox is not visible

Verdun is a Game That deserves more love. It’s probably the best ww1 shooter out there and I have never played a game that made dying on a battlefield feel so easy. Pop out of the trench to early, bang dead, turn a corner, there’s a guy with a Lewis gun and your entire squad gets wiped out. Rifles, pistols, melee weapons, random grenades, machine guns, flamethrowers, artillery fire, poison gas, and some more. All of that kills you in one or two shots usually. It is so easy to die in this game. You can end up spending a lot of the game crawling through the mud going from cover to cover just to get to the enemy trench and then die immediately when you get there, if you don’t die earlier. Also, the way the Game is structured, you can spend the entire match fighting back and forth over a single trench with the match ending at a 0-0 draw. It’s probably as close to an “authentic” WW1 game as you can get. It’s a very ugly game, it’s not particularly fun, but it’s an experience unlike any other game I’ve ever played. I recommend it, if you don’t mind dying a lot to

If you’re ever going to charge a sentry nest as pyro you would be best off using the phlog for the crits. Most established sentries will mow you down before you can get close with any other flamethrower. Be aware that a lvl 3 sentry will kill you in < 3 seconds so your best option is ambushing the engine and killing the sentry rapidly. It’s not easy.
