"I'm done with first born marines." I mean, yeah, you have the entire first and second company there, there are no more marines lol. Gorgeous collection.
The dark angels are the most loyal space marine chapter in all of the imperium There totally isn’t a dark angel holding a bolt pistol at the back of my head *chuckles nervously*
Wish the Lion would wake up all of a sudden and be like "Why do I sense....the color Green? I don't like this feeling, hopefully I'll never get to see this color in mass or large abundance - Anyways, where is my legion?."
@@snakeyman5560 I liked the comment then unliked it quicker than the DAs leaving in the middle of a war to hunt the Fallen. Imo purple is cool but not as the whole armor, returning to their roots in black armor would be my wish and maybe mix in purple for cloth and whatnot.
@@rwyot767 God yes I want them to go back to Black. I was looking at the new Dark Angels ultima founding successors and one of the chapters is slick af in this smooth and slippery purple.
@@snakeyman5560 Honestly at this point I’ll take anything but the swamp green, leave that to the Salamanders. And the Fallen thing is a nothing problem, I want the Lion to slap current Dark Angels upside the head and tell them “Go say sorry to your brothers for hunting them down and killing them.”
@@snakeyman5560 congratulations, if they actually will change their colors again all Dark Angels players who just finished painting their last model will be after you XD
‘I do not care who knows the truth now, tomorrow, or in ten thousand years. Loyalty is its own reward.’ - Lion El'Jonson I feel that noone who learned anything from the Lion or his teaching would ever concern themselves with the question of loyalty. They just are, it is not a question.
His one quote does not wash out all the actions and consequences of those actions that his legion have made after ... He is loyal but his legion act the opposite. They are loyal though.
@@wiggy5209 They are loyal, but they are technically traitors to the Imperium. When Johnson wakes up he's definitely going to be dishing out some punishment to the inner circles of the Unforgiven.
@@moncey1120 maybe, but I see him laying waste to chaos, and will find those "errant" sons, from Luther down Cypher and all in between. Remember, the Luther faction drew first blood.
I think this was the original lore of Luther but with the new book, it is revealed that he never actually turned to chaos and he rejected every chance he got. All he wanted to do was help Caliban but despite his rejection of them, Chaos still managed to cloud his vision. One of the last things he said before he left was, I would only seek redemption from the one I betrayed which was the Lion. Paraphrased the quote but you get the gist of it. He really wasn’t a bad guy, just confused. BTW, this is less for your comment than for people who want to know more about his confused loyalties
Dark Angels are my favorite chapter. Something about them and their "Knightly" aura really appeals to me. Before I really knew what 40k was, Dark Angels were accidentally my first Marines. I got a small packet of 2 metal DA Veterans. Not only that, But they are 3 armies in 1. Deathwing, Ravenwing and Greenwing, each being its own playstyle like he said in the video. But finally; LOYALTY IS ITS OWN REWARD!
Same reason I chose them for the knightly way they are and loyal, I just hate how some authors make us out to be c**ts and disloyal. I understand our need to purge the fallen but the very first lore I read about them was how loyal and adherence to all forms of chivalry etc now that author I shall not name ( must be a fallen trying to get DA excommunicated)
@@ger5956 If you were surrounded on all sides by forces that want to exterminate you because they think you shouldn't exist either, I think you might view things more like most chapters view their enemies. When it's them or us kind of thing, my bolters says you go first.
Now THAT is a nice collection. Little bit of classic, little bit of new, all looking awesome. With how much some people like to crap on space marines, looking at that table you get a sense of what a huge army is supposed to look like, and it's a feeling I don't get from looking at other large forces.
@@filwilliamson9149 We had a Tau apocalypse match already....and honestly, more Tau won't change the fact that it's still Tau. Granted, it was a HELLUVA blast, but I'd like to see more variety in the armies on PlayOn's roster. When was the last time we saw a Tyranid army? All the way back in that first Apocalypse match. Orks? On Kill Team Challenger Episode 1 and never in a proper 40K game. Necrons? Also on Kill Team Challenger, see Orks. Eldar? All the way back in the Season 1 Championship. Drukhari? On that one Kill Team game vs. Tau and never seen again since. Knights? ...OK, we saw Tycho field a full squad of Knights against Paul(Which there is NO WAY he should have lost that game-I was screaming at Paul to MOVE HIS MODELS ONTO OBJECTIVES ALREADY!). But the last Imperial robot we saw was back in the same Tyranid Apocalypse game. I could go on and on-the only factions PlayOn seems to field consistently are AdMech, Chaos, Space Marines(admittedly a different chapter every time), and Tau. So honestly, I don't care who-as long as it isn't ANY of the four above(or in the case of the Space Marines, at LEAST a chapter new to PlayOn!)
I wouldn’t be surprised if they are the next two Primarchs to come back. The 13th Great Company of the Space Wolves just came back (Leman left for the Eye of Terror with them) which hints toward Leman coming back, and Luther has escaped and the fallen angels are gathering, which hints towards a confrontation between the Lion and Luther. Edit: Of course when you consider the pace at which GW advances the plot, we can expect them to come back sometime in the next decade.
nice speedy video cuts, chilled dudes, much love in this army - if I may suggest: it would not hurt to have more closeup shots and less moving camera shots of this wonderful minis. Would have enjoyed focusing more on them while listening to the chat in the background.
1:18 What mystique? The dark angels definitely don't have a mystique, as that would imply that they keep secrets, which they definitely do not do! They are a perfectly loyal chapter who do not spend all their time and resources hiding a dark secret about their past heresies!
when he went "i gotta play" I felt that.... 2008-2009 must have been when i put the hobby aside, recently read some 40k lore again and wallethammer is back
I'm working my way toward that. Finishing up my primaris battle company, then the Deathwing, Ravenwing, and Scout company. Was a great vid and I love to see people who have been in the game as long as I have.
This is one of the biggest and most beautiful armies I have ever seen! He did such a great job with the layout and painting of these models. I hope he doesn't stop so we can see another video of his army.
I love how Caliban blew up *after* the Heresy, and Russ fully knew there were tens of thousands of marines on Caliban, yet the Dark Angels still think the existence of the Fallen is a big secret. Probably every chapter master knows (possibly every loyalist in general). But they just roll their eyes whenever the Dark Angels show up and play dumb, just to make sure DA stays loyal.
Holy crap, that tidbit about the renegade Dark Angels makes me want a story about a defector who tries to just live out a simple life on a far off planet, but is hunted down by the Dark Angels.
Half turned to chaos? Not even. Luther + 500, plus what ever recruits Luther skimmed off instead of sending to reinforce. Even then, the ones under Luther were mixed, some were on chaos juice, some were lied to believing that the Lion returning were actually traitors. So, some Fallen are chaos, others are renegades, others still are just trying to reconcile that they were lied to by Luther. “Loyalty is its own reward”, anyone who thinks the dark angels are traitors, are themselves engaging in heresy. Hopefully, when the Lion wakes we get the other 4 wings of the hexagrammaton, storm wing (shock assaults), fire wing( least known, but flamer and plasma), iron wing (brute force) , and the dread wing (legion destroyer squads, mass armour)....maybe not dreadwing as playable, that would be like putting exterminatus on the table.
Oh it is glorious to see my chapter represented in such fine detail. None of us is heretical, Why would you even say that? Unless you know of the Fallen! He know's of the Fallen! Brother Interrogator-Chaplain, He needs to Repent!
And now the Dark Angels have one of the best all around looking models with the Lion. The face/expression is perfect, the helmet is amazing, the way the Watchers can hold various items is efficient. Whoever designed the Lion and the new Angron definetly incorporate actual physics in the design. Like they think of surface area, viscosity, topography, etc. which makes those models look incredible with contrast paint and make methods like slap chop and 'eavy metal easier and more forgiving. Like even a thin coat of nuln oil will bring out insane detail. Very very cool model the new Lion El' Johnson
I can't wait for Lion and Luther to 1v1 and see Luther get absolutely destroyed. This time Jonson won't hesitate to game end Luther as Soap did to Shepard.
I watched the father and son bat-rep the other day and was thinking Chris was from Liverpool! Glad to know I was right as I'm a fellow Scouser and to get that wrong would have been embarrassing...
Warm greetings from a hut in the snow-covered forests! You have wonderful miniatures and excellent work! Thank you so much for the inspiration given by this demonstration!
I really don’t wanna be that guy but the watchers in the dark are not chaos. When the changling, a demon of tzeench, saw a watcher in the dark it screamed and cried then ran away
When I started 40k, I chose to make 2 armies; 1 space marine and 1 chaos space marine army. So I chose Black Templars and Black Legion. My friend asked why I didn't go for Dark Angels I told him I don't need 2 chaos space marine armies. XD For real though, Dark Angels are pretty cool. Impressive collection.
I am so torn between ultramarines and dark angels, I already have 2000 points of dark angels, but I want to move to 100% primaris, and I am unsure if I should just go with Ultramarines.
A great video, love watching these showcases seeing all the brilliant paint jobs, will we be able to see any showcases from the Playon teams armies at any point in the future? Like the Drukhari or Adeptus Mechanicus armies for example?
This is the best way to show an army they give some lore you get to know the army more and hear intresting facts meanwhile they show you the army its amazing
Feel like mans is a little bit too hype sometimes with his movements. Was legit afraid he would knock something down, or break something. The owner looked a bit anxious too at some moments😅. Chill bruh😂.
ONLY 14k... your slaking bro... ANY army needs at least 40k in points....... though admittedly some armies will be harder to build that many points... of course i subscribe to the theory of literally building entire companies, chapters, and legions "for the 30k era"... though admittedly legions would in theory involve over 100k individual marine models..... but imagine the APOCALYPSE games you could run.... mwahahaha....
I HAVE BEEN WAITING SOO LONG FOR A NEW EPISODE OF THIS AND IT IS FINELY HER WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. and god i love that ares patern land raider hope gw makes some proper rules for it so it can be alowed to play in matched but holy shit that model looks so buterful. other then that great vid hope to see more of this in the future
I wonder how many points the 1st company would be worth? I only ask because, with my help, my friend, along with the huge amount of other DA he has, built the entire Deathwing. HQ, Terminators, Deathwing Knights etc. An expensive 100 terminator army(with about 20-30 spares) that would be fun, fluff wise, but stupid to play at that point cost seeing what it could run up against that would negate the terminator's benefits, like Lords of War(do those still exist? I am an addition and a half behind). We kind of got salty when they simplified the game in 8th ed and haven't played.
I have a clarification to make : the Lion sleeping underneath the Rock is NOT a recent addition, by no means : it was written at least on page 14 of the V2 Codex "Angels of Death", which I still own !!! So as far as I know, it has always been official and canon lore that the Lion is alive and recovering. Luther escaping is a more recent addition, that at least is true ;) And reversing the roles by saying that the loyalists are those who were scattered across the galaxy is just plainly stupid on sooo many levels : first, if it were the case, characters like Astellan, that we SEE on the wrong side during the Heresy, to end up prisoner of the DA in the 41st Millenium would just "reunite with his former buddies" instead of being tortured by chaplains only one or two hundred years old, at most... Same for ALL know characters of the Heresy that fall in the hands of the modern DA. PLUS : the modern DA are RECRUITING on a lot of worlds : their entire HQ is less than 300 years old and they come from various worlds. Some are known of the Imperial authorities and their wherabouts are not a secret (their planet of origin, their year of recruitment, their age at the time and so on). PLUS Deathwatch ? The Inquisition monitors all those who enter its institution, and gather intel about their origin, age, states of service etc. Not utterly impossible to mystify, but Deathwatch has been around for 10000 years : how credible would it be for sooo many "heretic" DA to pass this screening (do I have to remind everyone that the fallen have, well, fallen to the Chaos gods for the most part ? How would the psykers and monitors of the Inquisition NOT detect it, not a single time over 10000 year ?). So in this whacky theory, where would be the original 10000 years old calibanite DA among the chapter ??? PLUS : the canon lore explicitely denies this "theory" by writing first person about some of the most famous DA characters, so in many books, we are not just "spectating" them from outside, we are seeing the story through the eyes and mind of those characters...
I’ve been collecting an ultramarine successor chapter for a little over a year now (new Covid hobby) but the Dark Angels were my favorite marines before I got into it actually getting my own models. love their story, their color scheme, the old knight sword-and-shield esthetic, and their variety compared to other chapters, but I ended up going with an Ultramarine successor chapter for my marines for the rules. However, I use a lot of dark Angel pieces on my models still for the awesome helmets and shoulders, and even converted Master Lazarus into my proxy for Guilliman. TLDR, love the vid, excited to see these boys again one day, might make my own small DA army for the fun of it
It goes up very quickly when You field 8 full squads of Terminator Deathwings. Some Deathwing Knights in Assault Land Raiders for a charge on disembark. And then An entire Ravenwing with Bikes and Planes.
I mean they were never codex compliant to begin with what with their successors being included in the Dark Angels chain of command, they just aren't open about it like the other non-codex chapters. However I don't really think that matters so much now since Guilliman basically reformed the Blood Angels into a legion under Dante.
The Dark Angels and Lion El’Johnson are not traitors. While the Fallen are traitors, the true Dark Angels will never betray the Emperor, for Loyalty Is Its Own Reward according to their Primarch
Lol! These guys have massive armies and yet no full-length battle 2000 pts reports. Whats the deal with being a 40k channel without strike force battle reports? There are bearly enough batreps but these guys just have to cut them short, as if they thought the movement phase and dice rolls are even necessary. What a waste of good production value.
the first army i wanted to build was dark angels.. i only bought a predictor for 60 bucks... missing the front door (broke off), still unpainted.. but i always wanted dark angels cuz i remember their terminators were awesome!
Sorry for the necro post, but I just threw down 13000 points of Dark Angels in an apocalypse game this past weekend. I had the entire Deathwing... all 100 terminators.
I only have half that number. I love the Dark Angels on table top. They have great exclusives and are a three in one. Lore wise... they're jerks! Honestly, total bastards. May it blow up in their faces.
My personal headcanon is that the watchers in the dark are the psychic warp manifestation of the Dark Angel's guilt and contempt for their own legion, looming over them like a specter of their failure, a grim reminder that never goes away. But that's just me. :P
And now I'm wondering how many points of Dark angel I have.... it seems so tiny from what I have... Shame to me.... From what I see... I'd guess 25k, maybe more....
Yes, but you still need the books to field them; did not see those? Lol, It will cost you around another 200 pounds. Loving the Dark Angel look bro. 🤣🤣
