In 2018, when BTS broke out with "Fake love", haters said that the group was too Americanized, at the time they were attacking them from all sides.Rm using filters during a live, they told him not to use it. I laughed when he thought that's a BTS concert. That's a f*cking award show dude. BTS just has the power to make anything looks like their concert.

Jimin received a Cultural Merit Award from the Korean Fan Dance society for promoting the Korean culture worldwide.

IDOL was an answer to the haters who said that they were becoming westernized and used a lot of CGI. SO they used all the cultural references and said that they did not care how the haters categorized them. That they love themselves as they are with all the aspects.

Idol is not Just any usual kind of song..its very Korean traditional culture inspired...the mv had lots of symbolisms and .the soundtrack has traditional instrument.. And this live version , they added more traditional element and made it epic...best live version ever..

BTS live is a whole other level. This is actually there 2018 performance, they weren't at the 2021 show. Jimin was recognized for his traditional fan dance for raising awareness from the cultural conservative society. You should watch their 2019 performance, it is mesmerizing. Jimin's solo dance is gorgeous. Jimin's vocals! So beautiful and unique. His stage presence, the way he flirts with the camera, and his dancing, is why he is my bias. Plus his kind and caring personality. seriously check out more live performances. The energy they get from ARMY kicks it up to 11! I saw them in Las Vegas and saw Suga/Agust D in Oakland. I can't wait for 2025 when they are all back together!

This song incorporates African and Korean culture and to this day STILL blows my mind as WHO does that?!!!!! The music is Afro house music PLAYED using traditional Korean instruments!!! That alone is insane (and I mean that in a very good way!) Their promotional attire were suits made out of African material including Ankara and Kente…. The choreography incorporated African dances including “The Gwara Gwara” dance made popular by Rihanna here in the USA… No one is doing anything like BTS back then or now. The more people understand the significance of this song in that it literally infused two cultures, it will be hard to diminish its impact.💜 Thanks for giving it a second look and another chance…💜

It's a Korean Cultural references eg dance moves, traditional clothes, drum beats, masks mythology eg the yellow shaggy things are the Korean Lion. As the song Idol is complete diss track to all the different haters those who think thing are mindless 'Idol's who simply sing and dance what they are told to sing and dance, the haters who said they'd become too westernised. You call Artist, you call me Idol I don't care you ain't going stop me loving myself. It's about self love learning to accept and love yourself before you can do that to others. So you have the diss track and the 'love yourself' all rolled into one song. The MV had even more reference's to both side's of what the song was saying but unless you know what it's about and know the reference's you never understand the MV so don't worry.

If you never watched BTS LIVE, you can't know BTS. BTS LIVE is in another stratosphere. Where else can you see, hear feel the vibes, ENERGY, unique personalities and talents and the AD LIBS that literally make you scream at 2:00 in the morning. if you have any fav BTS song go listen to the live version, it doesn't play it 💥 explodes with energy💜

Cracks me up that this is NOT a CONCERT. It’s an AWARDS SHOW!! They performed several songs too, not just Idol. A MUST watch is their full performance at the 2019 MMA, it’s over 35 mins. You will be shocked at the stage production even more so than this one. It was one of things that made me Army, the heart and effort they put into an award show. They pay for it all themselves even, not the show. It’s not even a comparison to American award show performances. You’ll see 😜💜

In this MMA 2018 (not 2021) they changed the instrumentation to Idol, maybe that's why you liked this one better. I saw someone recommending Idol live at their Japan concert. The lyrics to Idol and the meaning behind them and what inspired them are great too. The deep meanings behind many of their songs is one reason they connect with ARMY.

Someone should have just told you the meaning behind Idols MV, it was purposefully chaotic. To let haters know they don’t care about their opinions and that if they want to use FILTERS then they will. And there’s so much more but that’s all I can really remember at the moment. But the message is right there in the lyrics, YOU CANT STOP ME LOVING MYSELF.

They are so good they used to get accused of lipsyncing so the member would prove otherwise by suddenly stop singing remove the mic's away and stand still and all you'd here would be the music. You can hear their mic's are live as you can hear them take in quick intakes of breath to sing while still dancing. You'll hear if someone hits a bad note if someone's voice breaks. You'll hear adlibs and different harmonies put in that aren't normally there because a member doesn't think they are going to hit a note because they don't have the air left or need water.

This performance is actually in an awards show and whats so great about it is that they showcased korean cultural dances and costumes in the performance. If this is your first stage performance viewing of BTS, try searching for their other awards show performances through the years like melon music awards, mama awards... they are all AMAZING. They have a habit of turning awards shows into their own mini concert. 😊

This is a major award show where they won a large number of awards and were given a huge amount of stage time this is only part of their set. BTS turn award shows into their personal Concerts. Concerts are even bigger that's why they sell out the biggest stadium in the world in under an hour of tickets going on sale and they offer tickets to the fan base first you are highly unlikely to get a ticket to a BTS stadium concert as a Member of the Public. They will have a live band on stage and sometime's a member will play an instrusement on stage with the live band as they sing.

BTS live performance is no joke. Unlike many artists (especially k-pop), their lives are even better than the mv, they sing live and put full energy into every single stage, so you'll never regret watching it.

I'm sure a lot of people had commented about it, but from what I understand, they were getting a lot of backlash for "selling out" and becoming too American/Westernized. So the Idol music video uses a lot of cultural elements in it along with the lyrics like "you can't stop me loving myself" and "point fingers, I don't care" as a kind of pushback. This stage is wild but uses a lot of visuals and dance of cultural significance that it's just amazing to watch.

the stages in korea are insane. very "big show", colorful, bombastic artistic and well-spent. more than vegas's. their internationals are milder :) and BTS's stages at award show are *WOW* each time. they really put their everything. i think this IDOL stage is homage to the korean culture throu the years, if i'm not mistaken.
