May I propose this idea: when the UK leaves the EU, I suggest that the UK teams up with Canada, US, Australia, New Zealand and some other former colonies and form an Anglo-diaspora Economic Bloc. And give the EU and China a massive middlefinger
Interesting idea. Although us C H A D yanks wont go for it. Sorry for your Britannia Dream. Good song though. Idk the song doesn't sound well like "Rule Britannia. Britannia rules the 100 or so miles off of its coast line and roughly the entire North Sea." **This Post was made by 13 Colonies Gang.**
Even though I'm American I have to agree this is the best song ever written. Even though the British Empire still lives on because every country that was once a part of the Empire has kept it's memory alive. I still say that we all should go back to being a part of England and bring back the British Empire. I think the world would be a much better place and all of the British haters out there the entire west grew up in the shadow of the greatest empire man will ever know and all of our culture and lives to this day was shaped by the British,
Discovering gravity, grounding the oldest and some of the most prestigious universities in the world, building roads, cathedrals, writing something many literary works, being home to some of the most briliant minds in history, passing so many parliamentary acts for the sake of maintaining balance between powers and grant the rights of its people, never going to the end of instituting conscription, being one the first to abolish slavery and serfdom and making the most concerted effort to end it worldwide... How does one even dare say that the British Empire was not a great Empire?
Lol, true, no one dares to challenge the illiterate who spewed such moronic statements as "Britain discovered gravity". So if you think "Britain is a great empire", well, yes, whoru?
Am I the only one that finds it ironic, that our national drink is from China, our national dish is from India, our national animal is from Africa and our national embodiment is a Greco-Roman Goddess? We are quite the most insane country in the world and I love it
We actual shared a colony with america in one of the city districts of shanghai. It was named the Shanghai International Settlement. Sadly this was given up after the Japanese invasion of china in 1941.
This is the anthem of our generation. Those of us in the Anglosphere(UK, US, Can, Aus, and NZ) that still love our nations and the history and future our countries hold must keep this song in our hearts and sing it with our voices as we march to restore the dignity and freedom we once held in our homes. Its right in the song. It doesn't matter if its our own politicians, big tech, or some terror group. We shall never, never, never be slaves.
As a proud American, I say I am proud of the British heritage in my blood! Even though we separated long ago, we now share a common cause that compels us to unite in brotherhood against the left. Long live the UK and US. And may Brexit Succeed!
"England expects that every man will do his duty" was the signal sent by Vice Admiral of the Royal Navy, Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, from his flagship HMS Victory as the Battle of Trafalgar was about to commence on 21 October 1805.
The greatest legacy of the Empire is the spread of the global language that is English. The Empire paved the way for the modern interlinked global trade and commerce.
Am I the only one that finds it ironic, that our national drink is from China, our national dish is from India, our national animal is from Africa and our national embodiment is a Greco-Roman Goddess? We are quite the most insane country in the world and I love it
Many years ago, I bought Heller's plastic model kit of the HMS Victory. This kit is known as the most complex, detailed plastic model kit ever engineered for commercial sale by a model company. Once completed, it will be 4 feet long. After inspecting the contents, I'm estimating that as a retirement project, it may take 4-5 years to do it justice. I've built over 150 models in my lifetime, but nothing this ambitious. I was once scheduled to go to England for a business trip (to Poole, close to Portsmouth, where the real Victory is) for a training seminar at Winfrith. I asked my British contact person there if there might be time to arrange a trip to Portsmouth so I could take a lot of pictures, so that I could get all the painting details right for my model. The lady actually went to the trouble to go to the British Naval museum and obtained line drawings of the Victory and sent them to me - no charge! I was elated. I'm going to attempt the challenge to build this magnificent model when I retire.
Wonderful ,just incredible. I think I am tearing up, for someone who lives in a sleepy western coast of England, with strong fishing and sea fearing tradition I can't be more grateful to you for putting up such a great version of this song. So, thank you for keeping up this tradition alive
I am from Penzance, cornwall. I am Cornish but live in London to finish my education. My grandfather from both sides ware part of royal navy and defended our shores during ww2. My forefather's took part in nepoleonic wars as a result of their valour , we ware granted small patch of land in Plymouth ,which was later sold off by my grandpa to get over hard times after ww2. My father and uncles are in British royal navy and my forefather ware in royal navy too for as long as I know. It's really great to find someone like you who's still keeping our traditions alive and promoting/highlighting our sea fearing tradition which everyone now these days take for granted but don't know how vital it is for our survival and our contribution to British culture. Listening to this song reminds me of my sleepy home town. Ps I thank you from the bottom of my 💓 for making me nostalgic and reminding me ,and others the part of British history which now these days taken for granted and considered to be passe
@@HiDefAnalog may the lord's mercy grace your new endeavour. I am a fan of baroque, classical western music too....my favourite is undoubtedly (maybe I am biased) Handel
I think you're right on...the attack is on Western Civilization ! The attack is also upon the English language. I'm familiar with the squabble between the 'Brits' and 'Irish'...part of family is Irish (in fact if you put an O' in front of my last name...you have someone who hails from Clair County, Ireland. It's not just the Muslims. It's the Russians in terms of world power, the Iranians (religion, eradication of Israel and establishment of a Caliphate) and in the Pacific theatre the Chinese who are all joining together, putting differences aside for the common purpose of eradicating the West ! Now the stupid EU is cooperating with them. I read some reports that by 2100, the white race will dwindle down to 5% of the world population. So yeah, expect defeat by the preponderance of overpopulation from these undesirables ! But I've got news for the world...I follow Paul Beckwith (Univ of Ottawa, Canada) and Guy McPherson (Univ of Arizona, USA)...there's also a Brit...tops in the world who's a little less extreme but just as alarming..forgot his name ! The date the UN just came up with is 2040...the date McPherson (most extreme) says will be an ELE (Extinction Level Event) for the world's species is 2030 ! The fact is that the UN now agrees with McPherson, that no matter what we do, we can't stop what is inevitable ! Since I'm a little too old to go to what I perceive to be the last vestige place to give it a shot, roll the dice, I tell friends that the best place to make a stand is not anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere but upon the South Island of New Zealand for a number of reasons one of which is that its next to the biggest natural air conditioner in the world...Antarctica ....and it has around 1,000 large and small glaciers ! It's as remote as hell and difficult to emigrate into ! I would suggest it to all native Brits ! My best advice !!!
@@HiDefAnalog I see where you are coming from, but bullets and moving into the wilderness won't be able to protect one from an extinction level event ! Thanks for the concern though....
Thank you so much my beloved United Kingdom for an unforgetable birthday-week. It wasn't only a pleasure it was more my honor and privilege to visit the great City of London. Stay allways Well and safely my british fellows. With Love from Bavaria ❤️👋❤️
A superb version of this magnificent composition. Britain has a long and proud naval history indeed. Even though I am American, I enjoy hearing this piece, and understand the pride Britons have in their navy. It is well deserved.
I want to go to England! But it is quite far from Japan .... In case But I will go to England someday, because I love Britain! Thank you for the wonderful music ありがとう!
Only Britain step up to the plate without any hesitation after 9/11.We will always be tied beyond just culture to Britain. Being half Johnny Bull myself I always felt a strong affinity to that Great Island.
Only after we were attacked on Dec 7 did we do our duty not only to the British people but the world. It will always amaze me how we could sit safe and secure while the German conducted Blitz that cost the British 40,000 dead. Truly the Isolationists had at that time their heads up their asses.
Magic version. And hello to Edward from Peru. A world that still needs leadership, decency, science, education and liberalism... still needs Britain....Long may she rule with others like minded and save all from tyranny....lest we forget.... Aussie Andy
This royal throne of kings, this sceptr'd isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands,-- This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England. William Shakespeare, "King Richard II", Act 2 scene 1 (1564 - 1616)
for 3 hundred years my family worked in the Royal dock yards building the hearts of oak... for which I'm proud to have as part of my heritage... poor as they were...
Salute and cheers to the greatest sea power in human history...mostly used for good!..my country developed behind the oak walls of the Royal Navy!...God Save the Queen!...from the U.S.
AMERICAN (provincial) ANGLOPHILE..!!!! Proud to have served along the ROYAL SCOTS. the GREEN JACKETS (formerly Queens rangers..americans) and the LIFE GUARDS.
As an Irish man, I know we and the British had our issues, but what a respectable and honourable enemy the British army was overall. I really hope, going forward Irish people and British people foster a relationship that looks at all the things we are united by. That we may preserve both Anglosaxon and Celtic culture. That we clearly and confidently can say "this is who we are". That we may be allies in the fight for Western Civilization. Because we know the problems in Newcastle, Cardiff, Glasgow and Belfast are they same problems in Dublin. There'll be nothing left of our great nations if we continue to allow Islam, the far left, and political correctness to keep taking ground. Unite for Anglo-Hibernianism.
Interestingly, that seems to be the current divide in Irish politics. There are those who want Ireland to become more "European". They look to the likes of Merkel as the ideal politician. Then there are those who want Ireland to be even stronger allies to the US and UK. I would certainly count myself in the latter. To be honest I was caught off guard by how fast Ireland has gone to the Left.
I live and work in this great country, it is so nice that I can see in this movie some pictures presented 303 SQUADRON and ORP ORZEL 95A, all the best for this Great Country Kind Regards Mateusz Kotowski
when I heard some idiot immigrant was making a petition for having Lord Nelsons statue in London taken down, I almost fell of my chair in frustration & anger. & am not even British!!
We civilised the world and now the wogs want to drag us back to the eighteenth century... Not happening. I'm a Canadian Army veteran. My Grandfather and Uncle fought at Passchendaele. Uncle was 16, old man was 43. No fucking immigrant is going to tell me anything.
+Bakewell I know, but be awake. People in the states are taking statues down during the night without a public vote, so watch out for your great monuments of history, you have some of the greatest.
Rest of the world: So why are you called "great" Britannia? Britain: I gave you civilization, the end of slavery, working sewage systems and water works. And paid for and WON both world wars. I think i'm entitled to a small word of praise
The Romans never actually gained full control. Though the Roman army has achieved fame for its effectiveness as a fighting force, the Britons were skilled and ferocious warriors.
*_when an inferior bi-plane that could hardly take off from a carrier and was obsolete before it was even put into service practically sinks the most powerful and advanced battleship ever put into service by the German Navy with a single fucking torpedo_*
Rule Britannia is my favourite tune, and whenever I hear it being sung by any artist, it brings tears to my eyes. Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson is possibly the greatest Englishman that ever lived. His defeat of the combined, French, Spanish and Dutch Fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar saved England from certain invasion. Hanging in the lounge in my home, I have a beautiful coloured etching of Lord Nelson in full naval attire, which occupies a special place of honour. God bless Great Britain, and all its people.
Britons, Pls.. lose already that self guilt!!, And all that political correctness.. You've already shown the World - Brexit!!, & Thank G-d for That!. Be proud of your heritage, For what your forefathers fought for!!.. Admirable!.
And as you Americans with Trump, don't believe our "free press" we won't and NEVER will give up our Democracy, it has been hard fought for by our people, (as you ordinary folk) Brittania for me and millions of my people is sacrosanct, we will never give 1 inch to a foreign power (EU) we as a people have appreciated that our independence means everything, and that means that June 23rd 2016 marks OUR Independence day! this time, it didn't cost a single life! God Bless Democracy!!!!!
@ Giegue "In days of yore, from Britain's shore, Wolfe, the dauntless hero, came And planted firm Britannia's flag On Canada's fair domain. Here may it wave, our boast, our pride And, joined in love together, The thistle, shamrock, rose entwine The Maple Leaf forever!" 🇬🇧😘🇨🇦
I will play this whilst I am raising my Union flag on Brexit (Independence) day. The nations not so blest as thee Must, in their turn, to *tyrants fall* While *thou shalt flourish great and free* The dread and envy of them all. Rule Britannia! Britannia rule the waves! *Britons never never never will be slaves!*
The Falklands still belong to England. Another historical note: The first submarine to achieve a "kill" during time of war was the CSS Hunley, a confederate submarine (quite primitive, relying on a single propeller shaft which was cranked by the crew - by hand) that sank the Union warship USS Housatonic in 1864. The first (and so far only) Nuclear-powered submarine to achieve a "kill" during time of war was the HMS Conqueror, which sank the Argentine surface warship General Belgrano, in 1982.
My cousin George was in the Fleet Air Arm - went over the side of a carrier and died aged 23. My father was a Petty Officer in the RN, and my uncle Bob was a boxing champion in the RN --- all WW2. The world speaks English.
I think some of our politicians need to listen to the words to this song, I think some have forgotten that they serve the British people and not sell us out to globalists?
Watching this video and listening to this song brought back so many olden memories of our past. Well done on such a amazing song, it deserves more attention in my opinion!
What is the greatest spoken (second) language in the World? Answer - English. What is the most popular form of government? Answer -The British based on the Westminster model. What is the largest collective group of free nations? Answer The Commonwealth of Nations. Not bad for a relatively small group of islands in the North Atlantic.
1 When Britain first, at Heaven's command Arose from out the azure main; This was the charter of the land, And guardian angels sang this strain: "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 2 The nations, not so blest as thee, Must, in their turns, to tyrants fall; While thou shalt flourish great and free, The dread and envy of them all. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 3 Still more majestic shalt thou rise, More dreadful, from each foreign stroke; As the loud blast that tears the skies, Serves but to root thy native oak. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 4 Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame: All their attempts to bend thee down, Will but arouse thy generous flame; But work their woe, and thy renown. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 5 To thee belongs the rural reign; Thy cities shall with commerce shine: All thine shall be the subject main, And every shore it circles thine. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves." 6 The Muses, still with freedom found, Shall to thy happy coast repair; Blest Isle! With matchless beauty crown'd, And manly hearts to guard the fair. "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves: "Britons never will be slaves."
A magnificent performance of a magnificent nation that brought much to the human endeavor -- from the Magna Carta Libertatum agreed to by King John of England at Runnymede, near Windsor, June 1215, through the Enlightenment, into the Industrial Age and onward to the techno-scientific endeavor that greatly benefits the human endeavor. Truly Rule Britania.
@glareola you seem to forget about America, France, Poland, Russia and about every other allied country during the war. You also forget that the French lost more soldiers fighting the Germans than Britain did during WWI. The british always had the option to flee to their small island in case Germany beat France. You also forget all of the Irish, Indian and ANZAC soldiers whom were dragged into the war by Britain. With all of the atrocities committed by empires, the British empire is the worst...
@@patrickgallagher5149 you do realise brits were the primary naval force of ww1 and the french commanded on land due to their massive numbers over the brits, they had more to throw at the germans so of course they lost more
@@SovietSteel231 the French also had far more to lose. Britain was a sea-faring power, they could have held a defensive line, the French were fighting on their own soil. They sacrificed more than any other combatant nation because they were fighting for their homeland... Ships aren't of much use on land (not that I'm devaluing the cost of naval battles).
@@patrickgallagher5149 the royal navy basically starved germany to death, the british commonwealth forces launched the somme offensive to help the french at verdun, the french simply could not of won without the aid of britain and US and the other allied powers and related groups like the arabs in the middle east, and the biggest killer of the french were their idiotic leaders. but back to the song, the royal navy was the protector of us and we truly did go unmatched at sea till the 2nd world war, if all you want to do is hate on the brits thats fine but god
Thank you for this. I have always thought that there is NO-ONE that can sing Rule, Britannia! like Sarah Walker - particularly at the Last Night of the Proms
Great and Thank You! We are a film company and often work on documentaries. This has been very helpful and useful in research. Keep up the great work and very best. GOD Bless you all Paula. Sir Gregory
lol I always joke about the tea. the americans like to joke about winning the independance war and I like to joke that step 1 to making tea isnt putting it into a harbour lol
