The difference of Arnel with other singers is his voice range. Bihira kasi ang may ganyang voice range. Napakataas ng boses niya. Salamat sa upload. Memories ng nakalipas. 😊

Hold on- the video says Arnel's 16, this was in '83? But Easy Lover's an '84 release, USA for Africa in '85.. If we take the latter, that makes him 18 here. That's fine, still young.. I wanna go back there too, farther back, when Shakey's parlour was all about B/W silent films and hot pizzas (on weekends only, mind you) - and no live bands. At least not yet in my throwback days 😄

In born talent really shines bright as time passed and his musical journey ended in JOURNEY, the legendsry American band. AMO band days and California Jam remembering his old band in Olongapo. Every time he has a singing engagement in white rock resort where ive been working that time i always look forward to it. Always a fan of him.

Thanks so much for posting this. When Arnel first joined Journey, I read people talk about his days with this band when he was young and his high range at the time. It's great to hear it all these years later. I had to laugh when he transitioned from Michael Jackson into Diana Ross though! I like the guy who does Bruce Springsteen! Ha! I wonder what those people in the audience are thinking now! They didn't realize what Arnel would be doing in the future. I didn't realize this was just a huge band! Some of those who sing on We Are The World are actually quite good. I don't know how he stayed on pitch on the Philip Bailey parts of Easy Lover with the guy doing the Phil Collins parts so completely off. One other observation, whenever I've watched Arnel perform with bands in the Philippines, he pretty much just stands still in one place. But, with Journey, he's usually pretty manic. I wonder if that's just a difference in styles.

Di pa ko buhay sa mga panahong kinanta nila to.. pero ang saya sa feeling makapanood ng mga old songs.. nagsasalit salitan pa sila sa mic but it doesn't affect their voice quality. The voice are so pure. Walang mga kung ano-anong aparato para gumanda ung boses.

Yes even if he was discovered in his 20's, coz they compare the 40'-50's Arnel to Steve when he was in 20's coz that's so unfair, telling him he struggles, like have u seen him when he was at the same age.
I am one of those who thinks it’s unfair to gauge him only against Steve Perry, when he mimics a lot of other singers as well..Peter Cetera, Jon Bon Jovi, Russel Hitchcock, Steven Tyler, Robert Plant, Axl Rose, Freddie Mercury, Robin Zander.etc..etc..hitting the notes of their songs w/ ease, copying their style while style injecting his own style..w/ the ZOO Band he always twist the arrangement maybe to to give some spice in his live performance. These SP fanatics are clearly missing the bigger picture here..if they want to label him as a wannabe much better against all the singers mention above..maybe if the style of Journey is on the table maybe SP is better, but covering all of the songs of the artists above show he is ABOVE their comparison between him and SP.
