I’ve gotta admit I’m one of those die hard Perry fans and after 12 years, I just happened to have Arnels RU-vid page pop up on my feed and saw he was singing an oldie fav of mine. I’ve been sitting here watching one video after another of him singing some of my favorite songs from the past. Made me appreciate him in a way I never have before. I’m so sorry for all the comparisons everyone makes and honestly all the comparisons I’ve made myself. I see him now as a humble and beautiful singer with an amazing voice who is able to tackle so many genres and such a variety of singers and songs. I’ve realized he’s a super talented man who deserves so much more credit than he gets. I’m sorry Arnel that u were given such an impossible task to replace such a popular frontman…. Impossible situation for any singer to be put in. You are truly talented and I’ve loved every song I’ve sat and watched u sing this morning. I’ve seen comments ppl have made on Arnels performance on the Rock n roll hall of fame induction ceremony, but if we r being honest, Steve Perry can’t hit all those high notes he used to hit either. Sometimes I wonder if that’s why Steve really never joined back up with Journey. Ppl behind the band have always worked both Steve and Arnel like a work horse. They never got enough time off to rest their voices. A lot of greedy ppl behind the music ( or possibly Neal ) want the money to keep pumping out and it can ruin even the very best of voices or cause them to have a bad performance. It’s time for everyone to recognize what a treasure Arnel is and just enjoy his singing. You are pretty dang awesome Arnel !! Much love 💕💕💕💕💕

As a professional musician & singer I can tell you that very few of the big league singers have Arnel's degree of vocal control & expression. No one can perform perfectly all the time. The traveling, interviews & Social events that a front person is expected to do is far more punishing than most people realise. Managers, record companies & even other band members often expect miracles. I have played multi keyboards with a broken hand twice & I can tell you it was easy compared to singing for 2 hours straight with 2 broken ribs! Arnel, you have had to follow one of the greatest rock legends & I, as a professional who has sung some Journey's songs, I can say truthfully, you have gone beyond expectations. May you have all the success & happiness happiness you so definitely deserve.

Most of these die hard Perry loyalists never fails to compare him to Steve regardless of how many years already has gone by. Arnel has been with this band for over 12 years and I say its long overdue already to not give him the nudge of respect that he trully deserves. He's not there to compete or disrespect Steve, instead Arnel is there to preserve and continue the Journey legacy. He has his own amazing and beautiful unique sound! A rare talent! Respect!!!

This is one of Toto's most powerful songs which gets me very emotional every time I hear their version. I never thought any one, except Toto, could bring me to tears doing this song! The bands like Chicago, Toto that asked Arnel to sing for them, means he earns alot of respect

It has become clear to me that Arnel is not trying to be Steve. I think he never did. He simply happened to have the same voice range as that of Steve's. He's been like that when Journey found him. He simply put on the shoe left by Perry and helped bring Journey's songs back to life. This guy is simply talented. Nuff said.

I started as a drummer at the age of 9 yrs.old in Mexico loving the bands like Santana and Chicago I grew up being a big fan of all the bands of that generation. Now I'm 58 yrs. old and still love now what is called classic rock and Arnel is not different than all the greatest singers that I grew up listening to Viva Arnel Pineda

Yes, Arnel is very blessed. I like to believe that he his humble from the unfortunate of being homeless briefly. He is one of the best things coming from the PhilippinIes. I did not want to like Arnel's singing because of Steve Perry's. Arnel works hard in what he does in music. He truly a God's gifted singer musician. You know, Arnel deserves all the blessings coming to him.

Everytime Ijo’s band would play at Shakey’s new frontier, we’d be always take the front seats just to listen to this guy who was just 15 yrs old at that time! Over pizza and fried chicken, we wondered where life would take him because he is so talented! God did not forsake him! So happy for what happened to Arnel! Hope to sit in front again in one of journey’s concerts!

It was Steve Perry who gave the Journey band its distinctive legacy as the voice which catapulted them to fame. When he left the band, it was Arnel who revived them and has remained the voice of the band and its distinctive legacy sound which gives the band its continued popularity till now.

Arnel Pineda is not Steve Perry. He is a great vocalist and had contributed much for the existence of Journey up to now 2022. He is more gifted than Steve Perry, his passion in his singing and his tenacity to perform and give his best for his audience. And that he had lasted for more than 10 years, much more than Steve Perry and all the other vocalist who took over Steve Perry's place. The management got a lot of money from this band and from Arnel by making work almost concert after concert without giving enough time to rest his voice. Arnel Pineda is our pride and we will love and adore his gift of singing beautiful songs in his own style even long after he will be gone. He is a great pride of the Filipinos and nobody has the right to berate, hate, or downgrade, or compare him with Steve Perry. He is a great vocalist in his own right. We are proud of Arnel Pineda, forever! From a fan from the Philippines.

Whether or not Arnel sounds like Steve Perry has been debated and argued over a decade now and I don't think it's that important anymore because he isn't exactly a Perry-clone and I seriously doubt that he himself thinks he is. With that said, we got a singer here that can sing just about anything and everything thrown at him and he does a great job with it, which is more than enough reason for us music fans to appreciate and treasure in this unusually challenging time. Arnel is so diverse. The man can literally sing anything by any artist. He has his own identity and sound as a vocalist. If just happens to fit like a glove for Journey.

This is proof that great songs are just great songs. This song is what? 35 or so years old and it is great. Arnel is just damn good. I never understood why people bashed him for not being Steve. Without Arnel, Journey would not even be around anymore. INstead, Arnel took the torch and has allowed Neal and Jonathan to keep that Journey music alive. Thank you for allowing us to keep a piece of our younger yeras for a little longer Arnel. Someday soon, all of our childhood bands are gonna be gone......but JOurney gets to live on for a little while longer because of Arnel. Thank you dear sir.

Like you Stacey, I stumbled across Arnel after hearing a Journey song on the radio. After using the Magic Google Machine, I came to discover Arnel and am simply dumbfounded about his talent, humility and grace. I only hope Journey can continue to evolve with him. BTW, I've decided to contribute to Arnel's foundation for street kids in Manila. I encourage others to do so, as well.

My son is 14 years old and he LOVES Journey since he was 7. Finally I had the opportunity to take him to a concert two days ago. He was fascinated by Arnel!! He said that Arnel has the energy of a 5 year old. He ask me that when Journey comes back to town he was to see them again. Thank you Arnel for being so humble and for keeping Journey alive!!!

Honestly I knew who journey was , didn’t pay much attention to their music, then when I heard Arnel Pineda sing with the band journey I became an instant fan, and continue to follow Pineda, he was given a talent , gift from the creator, when he sings it touches many hearts all over this world, and here I am from a small community in James Bay Ontario we live on an island at the tip of James Bay , and here journey has a fan!!!! All the best to journey , they also have a lead guitarist who makes a sound from his guitar that gives you goose bumps, and that voice that comes along with it!!!!

I remember Arnel’s concert in Cebu and we’re just behind the front row seat where his wife was seated and the most memorable thing for me aside from the great voice is his child was there too...listening to his dad’s voice while in a baby stroller!

Sings Journey, sings Chicago, sings Police, Sings Toto better than the original singers clear soaring tone; and yes Perry in his prime could step to Arnel, not the other way around. Arnel is more versatile and has the same power of Perry. Of course tone quality I would give the slight edge to Perry. Arnel = GOAT status: if you look at his story and his body of work; he has a case for GOAT. This band is killer too. Those back up vocalists are smooth as ice...love it. Great band makes a huge dif! Back in 1983 I was a young Marine in Olongapo city looking for a good bar to hang out in. I remember being drawn to a club by the sound of a band covering Journey’s “Seperate Ways”. They sounded so good that the memory imprinted on my brain and I can hear it like if it were yesterday. I could swear now that it was Arnel but I have no way of truly knowing. In any case Arnel I love you for the magic of your voice and what you bring to the songs that “made” my life. Thank you!

It's not about Toto, it's not about Journey, it's about talent and musicianship. Arnel is a great singer, and the right man at the right time. I like to hear him singing and it is worth to keep this kind of music alive, the westcoast rock of the 80's.

I have seen Arnel on the stage recently with Journey. These guys put on a huge show, play more songs, and give so much energy that you'll have no wonder about burnout. I've seen the band with Steve, too. There is a definite difference. Either way, these are guys that love what they do, love music, and I love them all.

Not only can he sing anything , he has a unique talent . He adapts to who ever or what song nor band ... I don’t mean he try’s to mimic cause he’s not but each band haves a special sound and he can sing to that spacific sound , that’s not eazy to do and I’m forever grateful of Neil for seeing that as well and bringing him here to the states !

I have been overwhelmed by many, many 'covers' of songs on RU-vid, but this version of one of Toto's best songs just trumps the lot. Arnel's interpretation of the lyrics and vocals are sublime and the pianist has the principle scoring perfectly.

If you were to watch Arnel in his cover band in the Philippines pre-Journey, you’d know Arnel has the unique ability to sing and sound like a variety of artists. Without a shadow of doubt, he was an excellent vocalist back then and the only difference now is that he has improved tremendously in his diction.
