This guy is amazing. Not only for being such a good singer, but his mimicry is just incredible. He perfectly captures the tone and timbre of whoever he's trying to sound like, be it Joey Tempest, Jon Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams or the guys from Air Supply.
Arnel is a great singer!! He has paid his dues compared to most musicians. He overcame living on the streets in Manila, losing both parents, and raising his younger brothers on his own. He is truly the epitome of the American Dream. And he deserves the respect of all where he is now in life due to all of his hard work as a professional singer. He even presides over a charity group in Manila for helping children get off of the streets. I have the utmost respect for Arnel and the kind man he is to society. I have never heard him criticize or say any harsh words about anybody in any interviews. He is a great singer and a really good man. I wish we had more men in this world like Arnel!! Arnel, I am glad you have a successful life now. You have surely worked hard for it and deserve it!!
How did he pay his dues by imitating another singer of a band? He doesn't even have his own songs and uses The other songs of the person he imitates? No when he does his own thing and his voice and he gets an album on the top. 10 thing yeah he good
I have to say this guy is fantastic He is wonderful by Steve Perry would say at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this guy sings his heart out every single night it couldn't happen to a much better wonderful person such as him he truly deserves it and he deserves to be in Journey at first I had my doubts about him but after hearing this song called Never Walk Away and the second Journey CD that they have put out with him on it it took me awhile to get used to his accent but he's Filipino what can you do about it but you know why Embrace him and say God bless because he can have too much wonderful person to have joined Journey and thank God for Neal Schon finding him to continue on that Legacy and give joining the rebirth that it deserves and that's all I'm going to say about it but awesome singing from him thanks
honestly speaking i don't know steve perry..i'm not a fan of journey but i'm a fan now bec. of the new lead singer today..he converted me to be a truly fan of journey...i went to their concerts and so fucking Amazing...The new lead singer Rock me..Excellent...

First watched Arnel in Cal Jam Fiesta ng Olongapo Dec 1989. I remembered goosebumps watching and hearing him and The Amo Band live. Too bad I only saw them once, for we lived in Quezon City ..more power to you Arnel!
The vocals start a few seconds before he even begins to sing them. He has a recorded vocal track going that he's singing along with. It's kind of gay man.
ks29earl if I am not mistaken, what you heard were the back up vocals. It's not even Arnel's voice that came out at first.. Listen to it again and listen to the back up vocals.

@debbiechickie5 , Neal Schon has another band called Soul Cirkus and he also has a couple of insturmental CDs which is own guitar work. You should check it out. Jonathan Cain has a solo album. I don't see this as a problem with the Journey Band. I could be wrong though.
