Well, to be fair Wushu is more on the arts part of Martial arts. Also, I wouldn't really say that wushu is meant for fighting, since it's just a complicated version of Tai chi.

@@cyberkiller6345 martial literally means military. The most effective military art for self defense and warfare is tactical shooting with firearms. I'm trained in Arnis/Escrima since 1998, as well as western boxing, jiujitsu, wing tsun, krav maga and hapkido but I'm not going to fight the Taliban or ISIS with Arnis Escrima using bolo machete when they're laying down hate with machine guns and AK47 semiautomatic rifles, dropping mortar rounds and firing RPGs. I saw a video of an American martial artist trying to defend his store from marxist arsonists & looters using a japanese katana sword. The marxists moved quickly out of range and threw bricks at him til he went down unconcious then stomped and kicked him in his head. He looked dead. Swinging a sword, bolo or parang seems like the best defense til violent gangs start throwing bricks or shooting AK47s. Arnis Escrima is still a good art or I wouldn't still practice it but saying it's the very "best" self defense or military art is where I must disagree as a professional Soldier.

@@SoldierDrew mate it is depend on a situation you have to use your commonsense. of course you don't have to use knife to defend yourself against gun.but if your opponent is using knife of course you have the advantages.(hand to hand combat).😎😎😎

@@SoldierDrew Sad to say... You don't know about Spiritual kali, Arnis, Eskrima. If you use SPIRITUAL FMA. They can't see you. Bullets can't hit you. Spiritual speed is in you. the sword can't slash you in real war. You can broke a Tank in one punch. its not easy to become a pure SPIRITUAL FMA.

Yung prof ko dati nagtuturo ng arnis. It was really amazing . Di mo na makita yung arnis sa sobrang bilis. He can complete different movements in seconds.

@Ray Anthony Brady Igorots use bolo or taga, not bow and arrow. Just so you know, Igorots are known to be "head hunters". They behead their enemies and display their skulls in their houses, that's why Spaniards were afraid of them, hence Igorots were not colonized. Yes, even though they were from the north, very close to Maynila, THEY WERE NOT COLONIZED BY SPAIN, unlike your Visayas which was colonized FIRST. There's no record that Lapu-lapu used dagger, kampilan or what. In Pigafetta's diary, the ones who killed Magallanes were Lapu-lapu's crew, not Lapu-lapu himself. They used bow and arrow with poison, and when Magallanes was down already, they hacked him to death in his face. Almost all early Filipinos used bolo, kampilan or kalis, whichever you call it, especially the Filipino Muslim of the south and the Maynila Kingdom because ancient Manileños of 13th century were muslims and a part satellite kingdom of Brunei. Kalis came from Indonesia, they have used it since 900 AD. The overproud visayans, especially the cebuanos should keep that in mind and should not own bolos, kampilan or any other Philipine weapons or art of fighting like arnis as if they were the ones who invented it. Visayans were mostly pagans, not muslims. There are no records of "ancient cebuano warriors" other than a few lines in Pigafetta's account. We did not know what cebuano warriors were capable of because we don't records of them. So what you are claiming are baseless and a later invention of the visayans to over gloss your very very scarce history. Visayans and cebuanos did not contribute much to the over all Philippine history. Maybe, the Leyteños, they were called Pintados, and they were known as warriors by the Spaniards and they were often went to war against the muslim tribes, but not "cebuanos".
