I've been looking for this song for years. My dad had Micha Maisky's recording on CD and I would listen to it all the time. After I moved out I forgot what it was called and would every now and then try to remember it to no avail. I'm so glad I finally came across it!
This is my utmost favorite piece. I listen to it whenever I study or do anything. I can play it on the cello but not well. I really want to play like YoYoMa in this recording. Thank u for this.
I read so often to words of people who hold this work in incredibly high regard. For me, the opening is beautiful, that elegant theme, but it gets trivial at the 1:30 mark (in this video), after which it is just a series of sequencing phrasing and cliched cadences. I love Schubert's music so much, the piano sonatas, the string quartets, the quintets, the lieder, but I just find this piece so shallow compared to the rest of his output.
Superb performance. Ma is in his greatest period here. The piano part is so vestigial in this piece though that it really cannot stand alongside Schubert's great masterpieces.

I agree. i love Yo-Yo so much, I’m going to see him for the first time he has ever come to Australia this November. But I would give all I have to see and heart the beauty of Jacqueline Du Pré. I think Yo-Yo expresses amazingly, serine, powerful playing. But what Jacqueline had was like a fire erupting inside her and she was able to put that into her playing so well. And yet she had to stop performing before she turned 30 years old, tragic...

+MinWoong Park First , I recorded the orchestra to the video tape . After that , I recorded performance of Yo-Yo Ma in the same video tape . The sound of the orchestra is what remained that was first recorded.
9.01. Вена. Проф. Виктор Милосердов.
Another subjective criticism stated as if it were a fact. Many cellists play it at this speed and it makes musical sense. You don't have to like it but you should not try to spoil it for others. These are two very fine artists playing beautifully together.
vraiment, je ne suis pas tout-à-fait d'accord, le tempo est bien, sa virtuosité est exceptionnelle, son intensité d'expression est magnifique, que dire d'autre c'est YO YO MA !. l'artiste international.
