For the background story up to "Arrival at Kraghammer" go to Campaign 1, Episode 36 which contains an origin story during the break (at 1:36:23 in that episode); it covers the adventures of Vox Machina up to the point where Critical Role 1 begins. This episode: Character origins begin at 1:09 and run to 12:30. This animated introduction is blurred out over some copyright issue, but the audio gives you the gist; however, there is a live-action introduction the players put together that appears at the beginning of the episodes from 50 on. Story Summary begins at 17:51, game begins at 20:00. Break at 1:31:50, game resumes at 1:43:49 and runs to 3:02:36. I give these time markings for all the other episodes as well. The reason that the intro scene was blurred is because they used other artists and companies artwork and not their own. They didn't say who it was but one/few(can't remember how many) wanted royalty fees paid to them every time they aired said artwork/intro. They felt it was best to blur what they had and they eventually got rid of the lengthy character intro all together. They ended up replacing it with their own much shorter live action version instead.
I'm an hour into the episode and I wonder if there was a campaign before this? I hear all there references like the Grog's persuasion check on barbarian goliaths, the ox in the bag of holding and the troll dick so far, and because of those references it feels like I missed something, it feels incomplete. Do you know if there's anything to find that can be watched or did they just play a campaign previous to this one off cam?

@@savary5050 I once tried to make the subtitles for a 7 minute long video. After 1 hour I wasn't even halfway through it...and didn't even realise that much time had passed. So I can't even imagine how long must that have taken them to make these subtitles. Kudos to the team
@@savary5050 I used to do subtitles for a youtuber (unpaid... I just did it because I liked the content and the creator) and I probably did about an hour of accumulative subtitles and it honestly wasn't too bad. The hardest part is making sure everything is timed correctly. RU-vid has since disabled community subtitles and I hate them for it because there was no reason to remove it (keep in mind, the creator has to accept the subtitles).
I was a little bit worried that I wouldn't be able to listen to this masterpiece because Matt's mic sounded like he was talking to us from the astral plane using two cans and a piece of string, but it was quickly fixed and I have officially started my journey through Critical Roll!

I’m coming back after finishing c2. I’m 98 episodes behind c3, and I started watching c1 all the way back in early December 2023. 6 months later, we have made it far! I’m playing my own crown paladin, who is currently in the middle of being blackmailed and will likely be leaving his party soon, and Ive just started a massive cross stitch project of Cad, my fav c2 character. I’ve made a friend online from this that knows more about me in the past 3 months of friendship than most people I know irl, and we are writing a story together. This show is inherently a part of me now, and it’s lovely to come back again and see where it began! Today is 7/6/2024, and I’m sure it won’t be the last time I’m here. They have a new production company called MetaPiegon (so named for the Meta Gaming Pigeons) 2 movie deals and a bunch of other stuff. I believe full creative control. I'm thinking (and this is only my assumption but other people think it too) EXU Calamity is going to be a movie. Maybe EXU Prime too as a prequel to Bells Hells? Who knows.

took me a couple months (I got into it around the time they were already about 30 episodes into Campaign 2). I treated it more like a podcast though. I did my own thing while listening and only tabbing to the actual video when something climactic or funny was going on. Also had it playing in bed off my phone as I was falling asleep :p

For those who started this campaign after watching the animated series and are asking who is Tiberius and why wasnt he on the tv show. There was a partying of ways with Orion and he leaves around ep 27. Also the character bios are blurred out because they were part of the twitch stream and not allowed to be used on you tube. The sound quality gets better. It just the first episode and they ran into a few tech issues which they sorted out quickly. Enjoy the ride. I think the briarwood are starts at approx ep 24-25 i think but i wouldnt recommend skipping. You'll miss the fun.

From what I heard, one of the artist's credit got covered by the stream layout and they threatened for copyright or something. The whole thing got messy as a bunch of misunderstandings piled up so they decided to remove the entire character introductions. They just blurred everything and this will get no issue with copyrights.

Maybe they had this campaign already and decided to stream it. Maybe they wanted to start streaming a campaign and no one wanted to host them so the started the campaign and then found someone to host the videos. @@namechange2 The first couple episodes are rough, I'll admit, but as they go it gets better. If it REALLY bothers you, I highly recommend you skip the live show episodes bc the audio is actual garbage in those for the first season, but in studio after a while they get the audio significantly better, I think after the Kraghammer arc! Dont let it dissuade you though, if you can power through it its worth!

@@haileyhicks5751 I believe they explain it in the first few minutes afterward that they didn’t have the rights to the animation and so had to blur it out. So, we have to, as we often do, use our imagination.
Watched the Laura Bailey clip where she willingly tried to bargain with a hag to drop the curse placed on a friend, and I'm forced to buy in. Recruited my high school aged daughter and we're going to try to watch them. Watched the first 40 minutes of season one tonight. Don't want to know how far we have to go.
I hope you stick with it. I started with campaign 2 on a recommendation of a friend. I’m now current on C3 and now I’m starting on C1 as a prequel of sorts for the other campaigns. I’m very excited. It will take a very long time but you’ll find the journey very rewarding.

Are the Critical Role videos on the G&S Website? If yes, THANKS for letting all the European fans see them at a decent time, but why not on RU-vid till now (from an iPad, so the RU-vid app is amazing while websites are more annoying to reload). If no, then you should know that for me (and the rest of England), the G&S streams are from 12 to 5...AM, so basically impossible to watch live. Thanks, and DFTBA.

Glad you're enjoying it, season 2 covered events up to episode 63 so you have plenty of material before having to worry about spoiling the animated series.
