Devils Beef tub where my maternal side of my family used to hide the cattle we stole from the English - Johnstones and other Border Rievers. And thanks for showing my favourite sweet shop. Always got Moffat toffees when went back home to Dumfries or now Moffat.
Hi both & P& T of course. The Beef Tub started way back when cattle rustling was rife. They used to put a heard in the fold of the land so they were out of sight of potential rustlers so the name came from that.
Thank you. I always enjoy travelling on the M6 up or down through Cumbria, Carlisle, Dumfries area and of course on the road you invite us along. Stay safe end enjoy the travels.
Hi Bob, jenny, poppy & Tara, two well travelled dogs. I must say the Moffat site is really nice. Just lovely to get away for a break. Has poppy had a hair cut ? It must be really nice to get away & see new places & ones you've been to before. You both are a great couple & I love watching your travels. Hope this year is kind to you all. Lots of love. Linda xx ❤
Yes, Poppy and Tara had their grooming just before we came away. I must admit I hesitate to make videos about places we keep coming back to, like Moffat, but people seem to like them.
Looks a lovely place and. Most importantly safe park up . I love that area and spent alot of time as a child up there . Such a great way to spend the holidays .🇬🇧👍🇬🇧🎉
The road into the site at Moffat confused me and after a long drive, I ended up in the shoppers car park on the right. We really enjoyed our stay at Moffat in 2021 and was impressed with the site and how popular it was 🙂 Trev
Hi Bob, Jenny and Poppy and Tara, enjoyed the music and Moffat looks a lovely site, Poppy was really happy to see her friends, with little Tara looking on x
Aww we just missed you Bob & Jenny, we had to jump ship & head north due to the flooding, our pitch was flooded & so were the roads in/out of Moffat. 😱 We love Moffat, we visit a lot & find the bins situation a nuisance too! Currently at Scone & it’s the same set up here bin wise. Em 💜
Hello 👋 new subscriber here! Just wanted to say how fantastic ur videos are. I'm from Scotland and just beginning our freedom through camping and found ur videos very informative for places I would like to visit with the family. I've visited some of the towns you've mentioned which is really lovely!!! Hope to meet u both in the future. All the best. I am aiming eventually for a motorhome of course!!! £££
Hi Bob and Jenny, hope you both had a great new year!, Moffat is a great wee site, we were down there before Christmas, Best wishes from Bruce and Linda.
Lovely to see Moffat again having visited recently for only a half hour stay. We have stayed their in the past and as you it's a lovely site as a stop over to the Highlands. Our next trip is to Southport to meet with friends who live in Hightown. I'm led to believe that from site to town is within walking distance ? We'll be there from 27th Feb for three nights. Albeit out of season, are there museums or places of interest to visit ? Happy New to you both, Dave and Sophie x
That's interesting, I'm making a video about interesting places to visit in our local area. That's due on the 18th January, you might want to catch that.
I had to laugh at tara's face when all the westy's got together in the van 😂I do like the look of Moffat. When you mentioned super thanks your channel does not show the sign but at the end are 3 dots ( next to the share button) it is on the drop list.
I’m interested to see you are at Moffat. I went to school there at one time, more than a few years ago!. There is a Spa Well at the top of the appropriately named Well Road. Then there is the prominent statue of a ram, in the town centre. The inventor of Tarmacadam, John McAdam. is buried in the old cemetery. I hope you enjoy your stay there , it is a nice town. I’ve seen the local attractions such as the Devil’s Beef Tub, which is an extremely deep valley, with an extremely sheer drop and the Greymare’s Tail, a spectacular waterfall. I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year. Take Care.
Thank you. I haven't seen the Spa Well, but I have walked up Grey Mare's Tail and have found the grave of John McAdam. There is a lot to see in and around Moffat.
Hi Bob, as it’s coming up to the Scottish Caravan Show, we were wondering if you would recommend a visit based upon your historical attendances. We’ve never been to a show before, and Glasgow is about half the distance to Birmingham for us. We’re caravaners and would probably be more interested in accessory’s as we’re not intending changing our van. Many thanks from John & Al 👍
Another great video both. The white cable across the floor seemed a little hazardous (?) Can I ask what effect towing the car has on fuel consumption Bob? And do you deliberately avoid c/l’s ? Many thanks.
Thanks for the questions. I think you saw the silvered trim on the step into the lounge area, not a cable. Towing the car increases fuel consumption by 2-3 mpg. No we don't avoid CLs, we just tended to book Club sites for ease of booking. There is a CL Booking app now, so that should make it easier.
