Wow, awesome! Please, please, move the food into a beer proof log lean-to or rock dugout. if not that make a 'swing' set like log 20 feet up and hang the food

It is nice to see you just getting started. Two suggestions: First, set your camper down on horizontally laid logs underneath it for support. Make the logs a few inches short of the width of the camper and lay one log along the edge of each side of the other logs. If you do this to fit properly you will eliminate the cold air from moving under the camper and therefore create a much warmer camper environment. Second, with every tree you cut down, seperate the granches from the trunk. Use the trunk for your fire wood for now and move the branches onto the areas of the road that has/had standing water. This starts the process of filling in the low spots while providing base for building a corduroy road. A corduroy road is when you cut dozens of 3 to 4 inch diameter trees and lay them across the road next to each other. With the branches beneath them to help distribute the weight and the logs compressing into the branches and the mud, you in effect build a dry road that will last for at least a couple of years if you need it for that long. From t he looks of your video you will need a lot of this but just start using whatever you cut and at least get started. The worst holes will be less of a problem the next time it rains or you get a sudden heat wave and too much snow melts at once. Try it - you'll like it.

Hey guys! Just found your channel and subscribed. I know it's overwhelming but I want to encourage you to stay the course. You didn't get where you are by being slackers and with the six-wheeler, a mill, and a chainsaw that you obviously know how to use you guys are way ahead of the curve. From where I sit the sky is the limit for you. Above all though remember you are in this together. So be sure to set aside time for each other and then each day, together, set some priorities and then lean into your plan and adjust as needed.

Congrats on getting to your property! Your new "toy" is gonna be a essential tool for sure! Remember you can only do so much is a day, it will all come together one day at a time. 😊

Oof I know those can-am are a pretty penny! It’s clear this video was taken weeks ago, my advice as a Fairbanksan is to get all that dead and down spruce cut, split, stacked and stored. The sooner the better trust me, winter will set in before you realize it. Good luck, and welcome to the great state.

Perhaps you should rethink weather you are willing to put up with your driveway in mud season. Maybe get estimate for rock for low spots . You need to get your food up in the air away from where your sleeping for bear safety. I sure hope you have some bear protection and know how to use them. Until your set up better consider a bear fence around your living area. Remember bears are top of the food chain. I wish you the best of luck. Looking forward to watching your journey!

For the most part your driveway doesn’t look that terrible. With a little work it could be fixed up rather easily. Just haul in a few loads of “1 - 1/2” x 2” rock” to fill in the low spots. And I would definitely find a better place to store your food cause it won’t be there for long if you have any bears in your area which I’m guessing you do or will have eventually.

Ignore the haters. Definitely move the fire much farther from the camper, a few little sparks can do a lot of damage to that popup. Throw down some small brush in the mud to help get it firmed up temporarily. Get some barrels or something to stash your food in for the short term. Just stay flexible and roll with things and you'll do just fine.

I've watched hundreds of these, but I'll subscribe, because I like seeing you in the very beginning stages. I've cleared my driveway, put in the culvert, cleared the trees for my shelter, large garden and orchard all by chainsaw, built my shelter and set up my water collection, solar, garden, orchard and irrigation, and deer fence. I'm only on .6 of an acre, but I don't live there full-time. Now I'm just improving everything. Feels great to be at this stage, but I really enjoyed all these steps and learned so much along the way. Really hated the stages where I just had a lot of stuff around in piles, etc. Getting a shelter and good storage are so big. Awesome that you had the money for the 4-wheeler. Totally worth it. Building the A-Frame first is Definitely the right decision. However, A-frames are not the best for rain collection. You may want to think about that. Gambrel roofs are really smart, great for lofts and for rain collection, and they give a nice open feel. Lofts make a big difference on floor space for small buildings. Was not happy that I had to build my shelter on concrete piers because of the slope, but now I'm so glad I have that storage area underneath. Great to store lumber and other stuff. You may want to think about making sure you build a little storage space under your buildings. Look forward to watching you build your own life. You've got this!!

Hey guys, I want to be a word of encouragement. I am a female, 70 years old. This is my advice: Quitting will be the easiest thing you ever do. You two are very resourceful and I know there might be a slight “quit” thought that might creep in at night, after a long day of hard work. But, shove it aside, as you have already done a hundred times by now. If you routinely put up a weekly video, we will all be here for you. I’m sure most of us are long lost Alaskan want to be’s so, we live the dream through others. You can be those people who are trying, win or fail…but, you carry on. Best of luck.

Congratulations on your new adventure. Gods peace and joy be with both of you. I encourage you both to clear as much brush away from the the camper trailer, at least 30 foot perimeter around the trailer. I also recommend building a 12’x12’ shed from lumber and or metal with a locked door to store food and you supplies. Keep in mind that the animals in your area will be visiting you to check you out and your food. I also recommend taking fire arms training for both of you; get a pistol and get used to wearing it all the time. You are living my dream to dwell in the wilderness. Take care for now.

Just focus on the things you can do and pray, don’t except can’t do anything if need be go put branches and brush over the bad spots on the road it may take a day but time drags on if your not doing anything, and before you know it you’ll be driving in soon, Positive Thoughts and production will feel better as things progress.. One step at a time. You have taken on a huge task. Your free-nobody telling you what to do-making your own decisions-thats something that must be cherished. One day at a time. Just think of all the people sitting in cubicles- trying to make dead lines. All of them in a big matrix that i never understood. Nothing will come easy. Just found you and love what I see thus far. I see lots of good advice listed here from others. You won’t see the need for some of it. Lol, none of us necessarily did these things correctly the first time when we were young. My only advice is this. Get some type of paper and list out chores, goals, plans, etc. and then draw a line through what you’ve finished, but leave the task viewable. The reason for this is when you get overwhelmed, you have a tangible list that you can look at and see how much you’ve done. I imagine the drive there would be a page full of accomplishments. It will help give you perspective when you can’t see clearly due to circumstances.

So happy to have found your channel at the start of this big adventure. Can only imagine how big the challenges feel here at the start. Looking forward to watching as you start building this new life. Good luck.

You're doing great. One thing at a time as they present themselves. Plans often change. Roll with it. Go with it but keep your goals and plan in mind. Just keep moving forward. Prioritize daily. Your road is not going to last its probably going to be an important first necessity. Love what you're doing. Keep it up!
