ARRIVING AT PENANG Airport - Arrival Procedure from Disembarkation to Baggage Reclaim and Taxi

We are arriving at Penang Airport in Malaysia. The Penang Airport code is PEN. This arriving at Penang Airport video will also be useful for those of you who have a Penang Airport Departure as we show both the Arrivals Area and upstairs Departure Area where the Check-in Desks are located.
This Penang Airport Arrival video begins at our plane where we are disembarking our Qatar Airways flight which we have just arrived on from Doha. From this point we make our way through Penang International Airport where we pass through Immigration / Passport Control (not shown as filming is not allowed), we collect our luggage at the Baggage Reclaim, pass through Customs and then through to the Penang Airport Arrivals Area. In the Arrivals Area we show viewers where the Penang Airport Taxi Desk is located, where one can buy 4G Prepaid Cards, the Tourism Malaysia Desk (Malaysia Tourist Board), ATM Bank Machines and where the Currency Exchange Agencies are located.

The airport is located near Bayan Lepas at the southeastern tip of Penang Island, 16 km south of the city centre. Previously known as the Bayan Lepas International Airport, it was opened in 1935, making it the oldest airport in the country..."

As a Penangite, about the Taxi. I suggest you to get a mobile sim and instal "Grab'' - E-Hailing app (same as UBER) and go to anywhere. Its cheaper.

@ong kim i think you are making a very uninformed comment. Not all taxi drivers are cheats and the bus service is not anywhere near horrible. When was the last time you took a bus in Penang? Do you know if there is a bus service to the airport? As a regular bus user, I can vouch that barring a few isolated incidents, the buses are regular on schedule. Be accurate and fair in your comment.

Local who live in northern penang island, i still prefer using bus to and from airport than taxi/e-hailing unless outside operation hour for bus or i'm in hurry, bus is more cheap and cost effective and there's 4 bus line that stop at penang airport: 306, 401, 401E and 102.

Another familiar airport. Been there many times though not recently. I have a preference for smaller airports as they are easier to navigate so I like this airport that is in Bayan Lepas , Penang. Hope you will visit East Malaysia in future, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. There are many places to explore in Malaysia, lots of airports too.

Likely not getting great rate at airports or bank xchange. Do as little as possible or use ATM on arrival and change any excess before you head back to airport

We have exchanged money at both Penang and KLIA Airports. After that we have checked other exchange agencies around the city centers and feel that on both occasions the exchange rate has been fair and similar to the one at the airport. Thanks for your tips. Thanks for an interesting video, was almost an Airport Tour Video while you were looking for the currency exchange! ;) I prefer drawing cash as required from ATMs, as my bank doesn't charge me extra for that. Obviously the best is just paying with a card, but keep cash for cases (like the taxi counter) where we can't use the card.

I didn't get the chance to experience Doha-Penang route and Qatar 787-8. Now, I'm feeling so regretful for not trying and experiencing the route. The pandemic shows no sign of end and don't know when we can travel again. Wonder how was the passenger's loading? Is it a full flight? Did you try Penang Laksa? one of the signature dishes in Penang. =D

The next time you arrive in Penang airport, make sure you have the app for GRAB or MAXIM...these are similar to UBER. I live in Batu Ferringhi and it only costs me 35-40 on Grab or Maxim.

Hi there Joseph, thanks for the tip! We are very aware of Grab and have seen it many times. The reason we do not use it is because we never buy a telephone Card for Malaysia and can thus not use the App. Maybe we will do it in the future. omg do people really dont know the airports procedures? too damn easy and i always like going to new airports where idk anything about it, especially big airports like heathrow or jfk i always consider it as an adventure to walk around, where to go, and where to find my luggage :D

RM74 from the airport to Batu feringhi?! Good Lord, that's expensive..some of the domestic low cost flights will cost cheaper than that. I would suggest to use grab (it's an uber like app) whenever u r travelling here in Malaysia. Nevertheless, nice video! I enjoy watching it

Welcome to Penang :) stay at Penang until when go back? By the way the taxi to Batu Ferringi is freaking expensive , next time while come it again use grab . Cheaper a lot. I like you all vlog so much 🥰

Thanks Lau. We do use ATM Machines during our holiday. We always bring some local currency with us (exchanged in Denmark) so that we are sure we have money to get a taxi to the hotel should there be problems with The ATM Machines. In his case we could not convert to MR from Denmark. Have a good weekend.

Your usual chatty and informative video. But I am surprised that you arrived in Malaysia without currency, especially as you must know that airport exchange rates are reputed to be the worst in the world

Hi there and thanks for watching our video bushyconn. Malaysia is one of the countries we cannot buy currency for at our bank, therefore we always have a few dollars with us to exchange when we get there. Otherwise we use the ATM machines.ATM machines can be pricey on longer trips as there is a limit to the daily amount one can draw which means extra charges from both our own bank and the bank of the ATM Machine we use. quick tip: don't take taxis in Malaysia, use our ehailing app "Grab". You've just got scammed (technically)

1. More travellers need money exchange when arrive then departure. So outlets for currency exchange at this airport located at departure is not plan smartly. 2. If you were to ask information office where money changer was...you would not have waste so much time looking for it...😜😜😜
