Just got 3 Japan stations from Chicago mobile stationary from the Chicago suburbs on 10 meters. Using Icom 7300 and Chamelion MPAS vertical. Myvgreayest feat yet. 😊
Excellent contact! Ten is my favorite band. Watch for part 2 to drop! As for Chicago I’ve checked into the 220 net and 2M SSB net if you’re familiar with them. Thanks for watching and 73.
Thank you for the feedback! Yes that’s the SWR. Goes low to high as band goes low to high with my current mobile antenna. Works well at 5 in the SSB portion. 29mhz in the FM portion it hovers around 7, not so good. I need to tune it better to work the FM portion. Thanks for watching. Part two of the contest is out if you want to check out the action from the shack. 73
I’m an OTR truck driver, just got my Technician ticket in Feb. this year (KQ4OMM) Currently the Only rig i have right now is a Stryker 10 meter radio with 2 Hustler trucker antennas. I live in VA, but i am always mobile I’m putting out about 40-50 watts, and have been very surprised by the contacts i have made thus far only 4 or 5 but 1 was in Belgium I was very surprised that was even possible! Question I had regarding the contest going on this weekend, I made contact with someone Saturday no clue where he was but he gave me a number and asked for a number I had no clue what kind of number to give him, was wondering if you could shed a bit of light on this for me, so that next time there is a contest i can participate. Thanks.
First, welcome to the hobby! That Stryker is a great 10m radio. With solar cycle almost at maximum its a good time to get on HF. For contesting I've put out alot of videos and I typically explain each contest as they are different so take a look. There is also an excellent website www.contestcalender.com and it gives a brief explanation and links to rules. Good luck and I look forward to hearing you on the air. 73
Ha! When the solar cycle is at or near the minimum I hear that all the time but even then the bands perk up around contest times . Thanks for watching and 73 . BTW watch for part two!
