Now that these are back in stock I started watching clips. This is amazing for $139. When it first came out, I thought it was a cool body and tires on a “new” Voltage. It is so much more. Wow!
I just made a turnbuckle for my gorgon's steering. i used turnbuckles off of a Mojave 6s (ARA330601) and a set of rod ends (ARAC8807). I used the short rod end for the side that connects to the servo and a long/thinker rod end to the wheel
The weak and expensiv body is the weakness. Plastik Steering links is ok, i have them on my Big Rock 3S. Steels ones are a bit tougher, but they are ok.
Did you have any issue with your build? I just finished mine and the gears grind when under any kind of little pressure. Even just turning the gears by hand without the motor out it sounds like the gears clicking as if they are not meshing properly however there is no adjustment. All you have to do is drop the rear gear and driveshafts in so IDK what the deal is but pretty upset about it.
It was a little tough getting the trans aligned with the chassis. It needs to sit perfectly flush. The chassis is split down the center so you really have to squeeze it to get the trans to sit in the correct spot. Take a good look at all the alignment, yours is probably not fully seated somewhere
Great video. But I would like to just respectfully say that I don’t think it’s fair to consider the steering arms as a “weak point”. The vehicle was designed as something to withstand the factory brushed motor and an included NIMH battery. Although it can obviously be upgraded to brushless, it’s not really meant to handle extreme 3s power. That’s like comparing it to the granite 4x4 3s. Which I have and it is much much heavier and more durable than my Gorgon. I have however seen a few videos where they consider the body and servo saver as weak points. Which I can agree with to some point. However most of those videos the damage to those parts also occurs when they’re running on a brushless motor with 3s power. So I do think this video was awesome. You do give a lot of informative information when you bash along with being very entertaining. I just think in my opinion, it’s not fair to say the Gorgon has weak points when it’s going balls out and jumping ramps on a brushless 3s system. 😂
I wasn’t saying it so much as a negative, a $2 weak point is fine by me. Even brushed, that landing would’ve broken it. If the arm was stronger, something else would’ve broken My Xmaxx broke the exact same way the first time I used it and that truck cost 5x what the Gorgon does. I will say that the fact that this is all that broke is amazing. Every RC has a weak point, if not multiple ones. It’s very possible that this is the only weak point as long as you reinforce the body. Overall I love this truck and I’m more than impressed with it.
Your also forget the brushed system itself is a weak point my factory motor cooked it self 3rd run so it’s forcing you to change it out to brushless which then shows the weak points in the steering links and servo saver and the servo itself all weak spots for the gorgon
Yes, this would be a great truck for a 6yo. Battery life depends on a few factors. Lipo batteries are the best bet for run time. I’d recommend getting a decent charger and a few 2S batteries. I would expect 20-30 minutes per pack.
