Great review, this is what I commented about the other day. It’s great to hear you compare it to kits as well as just general performance. Thank you Sir!
** The RED LED only BLINKS when the Remote Control AA Batteries are LOW, NOT WHEN THE TRUCK's Lipo Battery is Low... truck will Slow down or totally STOP when Lipo battery dies, LVC. *** I use Traxxas 7600 mah 2s Lipo 25c battery strictly on my BLX. Long run time!! Fits in battery compartment, Not good for wheelies, just LONG RUN TIME,
Thanks, you just sold me on one! i mainly fly drones and race RC boats but never had a real fast RC truck! I think this Arrma Granite will be a perfect fit for this mid level RC guy!
Bought it yesterday, compared it to Traxxas offerings and this truck was an amazing value. So I went with Arma because of the value. Man this thing is fast with a 3s! Very happy with it after one day of fun. I mean closest thing in price to this was a Traxxas rustler VXL with a battery and charger for like $465 (the latest model). I thought it was too small ad expensive at that price point.
Its a shame that Hobbico is now gone. They make some of the best RC brands in Arrma, Team Durango, HPI, and Axial. In my opinion they over engineered every design.. Let's hope Horizon Hobby can keep a good base design and not ruin what Hobbico started.
I love my granite, I got it for christmas, its crazy fun even on 2s. I turned the punch up to 5 and it wheelies easily on 2s and it could probably do a standing backflip on 3s if it wasnt for the wheelie bar.
You did excellent with this review man. Great job, the thought out explanations were very useful in helping me understand the strengths and weaknesses. I subscribed. 👍😊
Very good video man. I just bought this Truck as my first RC ever, holy shit this is fast. I only got a 2S battery..I was in like punch mode 3 by default and I thought it seemed kinda slow, that's how I learned bout the whole punch mode setting. I turned it on 5 sitting in my front room, like ok it must be a tad quicker thets tap the accelerator again lol. Damn thing jumped from the spot it was standing into the air sideways like a spider to the wall 3 feet in front of it. l m a o so good, left a tiny dent in the wall and everything. I like this thing I took it to a local track yesterday and am going to another today. Guys who are new get this version , I looked at a "REDCAT" that was 220$ish with nearly the same specs on paper, motor esc turning servo all appeared to be the same but Redcat was tiny and very small everywhere else. I would've broke that Redcat in a moment and the parts are harder to get...SO if you are looking at a 200 Redcat or similar , jump up to this 330$~ range and get a better vehicle. Does anyone know when this BLX version came out , and when did the Granite itself come out? I just want to understand the timelines but its not been easy to find.
i am literally in the same boat as you. looking to get my first actualy hobby grade rc car and i was looking at the caldera and blackout pro models. while my bashing wont be like what hes done i just feel like the granite 4x4 blx would be better time spent playing and not repairing. plus redcat isnt carried locally where im at but arma is. so like you im going with the granite 4x4 blx too.
Thank you for this review. I bought the Senton BLX Monday morning and today I just bought the Granite BLX. I have to adjust the servo because the wheels do not align properly. Very easy to adjust and I can try it at the end of the week. I need to install lights for evening driving. Everything will be ready for next Monday. Yvan :o)
I bought this truck, I went to buy the Typhon, but the granite was open box and $100 bucks off. So I ended up with the granite. I went back and bought the 6s gen 3 Typhon. Ended up liking the Granite better, lol...here is why. If you lower your Granite and run it a little negative on the suspension front for sure. But the rear can be level. It won’t flip, and you can drift hard with very controllable slides. Compared to the 6s Typhon drifting, the Typhon is to heavy, metal chassis heavy, bigger battery...just hella heavy. The Typhon can’t corner well just to damn heavy. Good for speed runs (both are) but the Granite will out corner and out perform the 6s Typhon any day. Not on speed runs, but ripping around on the school grounds with these two Arrma’s, Granite is the choice to smash around every time. I considered the 3s Typhon, but I ended up going to a smaller tire on the granite (you need adapters) and made it as low as a Typhon...you guys...the Granite is like having a Typhon 3s with the truck body. Well, performs like one. Just buy it, try it. You’ll see...the Granite be smashin!!
Do you prefer the Arrma granite BLX or the jlb cheetah 120a v2? Which one handles better? Which one is more durable? Which one puts the bigger smile in your face?
I got the normal 4x4 for 300 when it first came out I’m so bumbed that the box is now 300. I’m planning on buying the blx motor and swapping it in and run 3s batteries. I already put typhoon shocks on and omg so much better
Also got mine as a gift. Truely enjoy it, drove it on 2s, BUT, after 4 runs bearings started to fail, run 4 a bearing dissintegrated, run 9 another bearing siezed, run 14 replaced all bearing(10×15×4), found another two that siezed and parts worn out because of siezed bearings. Run 16 still on 2s, pinion and spur gear worn out. Bought a 3s, have not run it on 3s because of parts that i am waiting for..... a bit DISSAPOINTED in this product
Great in depth video! This will be my first real RC truck, do you recommend it for a beginner into hobby grade since it is missing a good amount of info in the manual and hard to find info online?
very nice review. I am going to be buying this truck for my 5 year old son for Christmas. (and myself haha) I live in Alaska and we have extremely wet conditions as well as a lot of salt water air. All the bearings you listed, are to replace the entire rubber seal-less bearings the truck comes stock with? This would be approx. $36 in bearings and generally a MUST DO mod for the truck considering where I live? super excited for Christmas this year!!! I also am going to remove the stock tires and wheels and go with a set of pro line mx28 tires, add a set of LED lights on the bumper, and start off with 2s battery, that should be more than enough for his first RC truck.
I have the Standpede and its 3s capable too! I run mine all the time and its fast!! Of course lowering it would help with faster turns. However, I will be getting the Granite in a few weeks and will be able to compare them more.
Thanks for the review sir. I just put a deposit on one last night but can change my mind if I want. I am torn between 3 trucks right now. .the dhk maximus, granite blx and the big rock blx. My local hobby shop has all 3. It is so hard to decide.. sigh.
@@whirlspoon Hey man. I am having the same dilemma. I don't have it yet. I probably won't decide for another month or so. It's the middle of a cold snowy winter here in Canada so I am in no rush to get it so I will decide. I do believe you can run the Maximus on a 4S single battery but you would have to run a jumper on the other side. Both are good trucks and both have their good and bad. Well, hope you enjoy the Granite. I will likely get the Granite as well. A part of me really wants one of the bigger Arrma trucks like the Kraton or the Outcast but they are twice the price of the 3S BLX line. Cheers.
Hello, thank you for doing a review. I have a few questions. The bearings you recommend for the steering posts seem a little too big for mine did you have to modify or force them in there? Also when changing some of the other bearings on the diffs and drive shafts are they supposed to be really on there? Mine are damn near impossible to take off or put back on. Thank you
@@RazorRC thank you for your response yes. I watched your video and looked up the parts you specified. They seem like .5 mm bigger. They wont go in there easily...
I love the truck but I have a few minor gripes... For some reason the trim is super sensitive and very tough to adjust as a slight turn makes a big difference, it doesn't make sense as you have the whole dial left and right don't know why is it so fine to adjust. The other 2 gripes is there seems to be alot of slop in the front wheels and in the steering links. Now I know it's a basher mt but still seems like alot. I don't know how the links will hold up but so far so good. Also I wish they used something different as the wheels on the wheelie bar as it makes a plasticy, scraping sound. Might try to find another wheel to use with bearings. Otherwise it's a very well build like a little tank and has great electronics imo.
Dirt in the gearbox ok yeah right the granite is the greatest RC ever made there isn't bone single problem, my gearbox is covered your crazy, all my gears are metal your crazy lmao. Yup I heard it all when people where bashing me for simply letting everyone know my personal experience with this RC. But I forgot o never had one I'm just a troll lmao fuck.
@@stpbasss3773 hey ok I've come back and I'm man enough to admit I was wrong you were right. Apparently rich duperbash was also getting dirt in the gear box so I'm guessing you were really having a problem burning some gears. He just had a little dust getting in, not as catastrophic as yours but he put a piece of gorrila tape over that little hole that I never noticed. Well anyway good luck with your truck. I've seemed to have much better luck as mines been a tank. Only a couple minor gripes but nothing bad. Seems like alot of guys have had nothing but positives so maybe you got that one lemon that definatly happens with any rc or any rc company. Bash on bud
I purchased one of these as well. I love it, however, the steering(or lack thereof) is pretty bad. too much play. I can't even set the toe-in. You mentioned changing out the bushings. Do you know what can they be swapped out with? I have not seen any aftermarket parts for this particular piece.
Not only that but I have the Creighton and the clips are all different what they show in the picture which I don't like and I have them fraction same thing with fraction came with the plug adapter for
I run big rock love the 10 th scale can run them anywhere with out people complaining. Break out bigger car people complaining to cops 🤣 There gonna hurt some one dang Karen's.
I do like these TTX300 radios. I wish these companies would highlight or label the switches / knobs better. it can be very hard to see for people with vision impairment.
