Man that's some pretty good beating on that car. I'm impressed. Regardless of chassis crack. You gave it alot of air and hard landings. I'm sure someone will come up with bashbar or brace or something to help chassis . Great vid
I keep telling people that horizon changed the composite material when they bought out Hobbico.. Hobbico build arrma 3s and mega chassis never broke but horizon built ones break left and right.. when I got my first Outcast 4S I compare the composite with my hobbico built Sentons and it was easy to see the difference just at a glance
@@makertime6296 Horizon has done some decent upgrades but in downgrading the composite material used overall seems to be a less durable machine then the previous Hobbico built ones for sure.. I'm not a fan of the spectrum electronics either especially the motors.. With all that said there wouldn't be any Arrma anymore if Horizon didn't buy them as Traxxas sued Hobbico out of business
@@philthyco1 ya I agree my original granite was a better truck by far than brcc I bought after horizon . But I tell you I just ran my 6s outcast original v1 and even that truck seems better than newer ones . Even with all upgrades on v2 . Have figure material used on bulked heads and such is different. Out all my arrmas really only one with original parts and it's the oldest still has original motor mount
Honest and solid real-life review! Definitely helping information-wise. Fairfax area of the bay? Don’t make it to higher elevations these days but reminds me of some old hiking grounds. ✌️
Outcast is a fun truck, wish they would come up with a better body mount and not fond of the battery tray. I may have to pick up the kraton at some point tho also
Tough break for sure but when you're sending rcs 30 feet into the air in rough rocky terrain it comes with the territory I guess. At least it's a cheap fix although time consuming but that's what we do right?
I'm talking more about this specific location where he doesn't/hasn't run here alot. I think with the bigger rocks/terrain it's probably suited more for a metal chassis. If you land on a decent size rock off a 20-30 foot jump that plastic chassis trucks won't fair that well. I guess time will tell if he keeps breaking the chassis's or if this was a tough break and some bad luck at this spot. If it was just the jump itself I'd imagine he's gonna break the chassis every outing or have it happen multiple times. My point was most people won't have this be a issue as he's sending them crazy high onto rough rocky terrain. It's definitely gonna be interesting to see if he has the same issue again or was a breakage that comes with jumping them so high on rough grade terrain. His review is probably coming soon
@@cwatson42785I was just messing with you bro lol..With that said he takes all his rigs to the same locations ..There is zero excuse for chassis breaking every run..Dude he broke 5 chassis already lol
We're pretty tough on our RC equipment and based on the abuse we dish out at a spot like this, breakages are inevitable. An Arrma guy will tell you Traxxas sucks and vice versa but the truth is, they all break. That being said, the number of broken chassis' with the Arrma 3S/4S line seems out of control (much more than any other brand). A Traxxas might break suspension arms, knuckles, steering arms, etc but the parts are cheap and easy to replace. A chassis though, much more expensive (still not crazy, though) and a lot of work to replace. Arrma certainly needs to address this, maybe go back to their older plastic that was more resilient, or they risk ruining their well earned reputation for taking abuse!
sorry to here about your kraton man that sucks. i just got mine i am mainly going to use it as a speed vehicle. if i do off road it will be on a track. i have a traxxas maxx that i can use for bashing since i bought every upgrade they had for it lol could of bought a xmaxx but i like the size of the maxx. so got my 4s kraton v2 with road rage tires then maxx for bashing but i love my kraton so far.
Idk if you saw my videos but durning the unboxing I noticed some strange distortion in the chassis in the back corner where battery tray is 1st pack it broke there... now I've broken these in the past in a 3s typhon which was the lwb hitting a fire hydrant pretty fast.. other then that my 4s outcast an my bigrock never a issue kinda concerned about this... an idk about yours but mine only had rear driveshaft fixed it still has the original defective ones one the front not sure if they dont thank them are a issue or if mine was just missed
oh snap! i coulda _swore_ i recognized a building off in the distance ok maybe not but dang. you rompin' around in the Valley? i dun even know where ur at, but that "feels" like San Fernando Valley to me.
Got my 4s Kraton yesterday , i just took it out to look it over, haven’t ran it been busy , thanks to your video, Iam gonna do light running, cus the chassis isn’t available yet by itself. Thanks great video
I saw another comment talking about the weight of the 4s battery maybe contributing to that. So they recommended some foam padding under the battery. I'm gon do it today before I take it out next and be mindful of heavy lands when I've got the 4s in. I've got a couple of old 3s that I run to much success because I switch the controller down to 50% power because 100% is just too much for me. on a circular bmx track that's about 20 metres (66ft) end to end having a max speed of 55mph isn't much use to me lol
@@h5d8kirkb3pw i haven’t done the 50% throttle option, is it much slower then 100%, i was thinking about setting the punch level down slightly to see if it changes much. Thanks for responding 😉👍🏽💯
You are so lucky to have a bash spot like that. I am in Pittsburgh Pa, and RC’s are illegal here. Yes they actually have a law in my county that we can’t run them anywhere. If I had a spot like that I would live there. Nothing but RC & hours a day.
razor, is that a dx5pro remote? Can you do a in depth vid of how to set up telemetry settings. Ive updated firmware on the sr515 receiver and esc but still doesnt give me any info on remote.
At the minimum at least have metal pivot balls. Having a plastic chassis I can understand to keep costs down but having plastic pivot balls is just asinine on a $500 RC
Interesting to learn what the limits are! My guess is plastic chassis + heavy 4S lipo + 30ft jumps = cracked chassis. Should be an easy fix, maybe just add a piece of foam underneath the battery next time to absorb the forces. Otherwise the rest of the truck looks durable as heck!
The battery doesn‘t move when you jump, so there is no force from the upper side on the chassis. The force from the bottom side is much much stronger when landing. The bigger the battery, the bigger the force. If there is a little stone, the whole force is baled on that point and the Chassis cracks.
@@DaDa-ei1zz Ever sit in your car, hit the gas, then feel yourself get pushed back into your seat? Even though you're not moving much, you can feel the force from the acceleration. That's what force is, mass x acceleration. The heavier the battery and more acceleration from bigger jumps, the more force is created against the chassis underneath the battery when the truck suddenly lands/stops. That's why adding foam underneath the battery is an easy fix, helps absorb the forces to prevent the chassis from cracking. It's not cracking because it's hitting a stone, you can see the cracks right underneath the battery tray from the forces of the battery.
@@geodude3966 The battery is bound to the Chassis so it is one Mass. You can do the foam thing but it won’t help completely. The Chassis breaks because of Newtons third law. Broke two chassis of the Granite. Under the Motor and on the side. It broke because of hits against the ground.
can anyone help me i have this same rc and i ran into a curb going very fast and i was told gear came loose so i fixed it and now it wont run and i changed the ESC as well i still doesn’t work idk wat the problem is
Arrma vehicles with plastic chassis have to jump on lawns or sandy beaches. The jumps in this video are completely hardcore level for a 4-cell vehicle. Of course, the chassis is not cut in half like the Traxxas, so the durability is very good. :)
So many rocks 😬😂, some big drop-ins as well. Not sure if you have a Corally Sketer but would be great to see how that would do at the same spot and the Rival MT10 and why not the Maxx as well, I'm just greedy 😂
Where is this spot if you don't mind me asking? I go by the BMX track that you frequent in your other videos, I'm kind of surprised I havent seen you there yet haha
I picked mine up a week ago. We’ve gotten a total of 7 minutes run time out of it as the drive shaft screws keep coming loose and then they strip the internals of the axels/drive shafts. Additionally, little pebbles get in to the servo area and lock up the servo every couple minutes. Did you have this issue?
I've taken mine out for two battery packs and noticed the steering was quite soft. It was mentioned in another video that the servo savers can be too soft on a RTR so their recommendation was upgrade to a stronger servo and an aluminum servo horn. I'll keep rolling with mine to see how I go before putting more money in it. Funnily enough I was doing laps and it took me a while to notice becuse I was turning left most of the time and the car wasn't turning right.... hahah I'll check my shaft screws now. Thanks for the note.
I think any kraton or bash truck will brake the way you was testing its limits just like at the skate park landing in the middle of a half pipe on the chassi assuming it's undestrutable lmao 🤣 I wouldn't chance it I'm just getting Into it but I notice people like to destroy there trucks knowing there expensive and not cheep I'm amazed
Looks like a hard bash as far as i'm concerned. If you bash hard enough, you break, that's the game we play. It's not the first new release that has some breakages in various youtube videos (eg, Associated MT8). As for the people bagging Spektrum, it's far superior to the absolute rubbish Traxxas electronics in their rtr's (ESCs & servos in particular).
Broken link or arm is nothing compared to snapping a chassis though but yes new releases will always have some kind of quirks but this is nothing new with the horizon arrma composite chassis rigs.. The 3s chassis snap in half lol
Cheap fix.. Keep in mind you are putting it through hell. Rough terrain, huge jumps none stop. If a few cracks on the chassies because of crappy landing on crappy terrain is all that happened, I'm all in and buying a few.
It's funny how arrma guys say changing out entire chassis is nothing but when Redcat came out and the Kaiju and needed upgraded rear links cuz they snap everyone said it was a POS even though redcat sent out the new updated links for free lol.. Point being arrma guys will defend needing to swap out entire chassis a very time-consuming process but will shun other RC companies having minor flaws that take a few dollars and literally a few minutes to fix lol..Not saying that you ever said this or you think this way I'm just speaking in general..Cheers
@@Albertotron all BMW m cars need regular rodbearing maintenence. Not just the e9x. It's annoying, but they slightly tamed down race bred engines. Nothing special changing rodbearings on such an engine.
Why is it a disaster(accident) when a Arrma chassis fails and a flaw(poor design) whan a Sledge fails? There seems to be considerable bias in your unbiased reviews. Must be a coincindence that Just Bash It sells 20 Arrma Chassis and 1 Traxxas. Love how you hacked the E-Revo about 5 stars in 3 or 4 different categories for the dual servos. Granted most people probably don't like them either except those who appreciate the symmetry.
Don't worry, the Arrma is going to get hacked for the bad chassis in this vehicle review too. Disaster does not imply cause, it implies result (broken).
Cool. Brutal honesty is the only way i've found that gets to the truth and right now i'd really like to know which basher/stunt truck would have the best ROI.
