I promise you one thing… you will love the new Redcat!! I know, love and Redcat in the same sentence😳… for real though Earl, you’ll have a smile on your face, guaranteed
Nice to see the Outcast out again! It looked like a lot of fun at the bmx track. I like how they glide through the air and make it look effortless. All the weight really carries them, but if you do land wrong all that weight can really tear them up as well. 👍🤙💯
I 100% agree with you that the xmaxx is cheaper to run. However, I still find myself running my outcast more than my Xmaxx or xrt. The amount of speed and power is intoxicating with a geared up max5 system. I do have a lot of room to run mine so maybe this is why. Just happy to see you back out with yours.
Fair assessment. I did enjoy watching this video and as a consumer of your content I would like to see more Outcast 8S EXB on your channel...as your budget for keeping this truck running allows! I have $1480 in my Outcast 8S EXB v2 build with a some M2C, Vitavon, Hot Racing, and Garage-Life RC parts. Not too much though as I don't want to weigh it down plus for how I run I doubt I will need much more beyond the EXB parts that come stock on the truck. As soon as I finish knocking down all the weed growth from the winter/spring rains in my bash area with my older RCs, I expect to start running this pretty regularly.
Great video as always Earl..... I have both the xmaxx and the outcast..... They are both great trucks i actually have the opposite going is i have about $1300 into my outcast and I have about $2200 into my xmaxx...... But I went crazy on the xmaxx and have a bunch of m2c into it with the max5 and 1100 kv motor...... I have the max5 and the 800kv into the outcast..... But they both fly and bash hard... 💪👑
I put the Reefs Beast 1000 servo in my outcast. Requires a little dremel action to make it fit but it’s a game changer. Awesome servo. Has never let me down. But it’s $300 so….
I just got the 40mm GC low profile fans and on 3s super quiet. I stopped running fans on my motors just the esc's. And loved the 15m one cut editing no bs 😂😂
I feel like arrma should give the Outcast and kraton 1/5 scale to LOSI. Tell them to go thru it and make whatever improvements they need to upgrade whatever they need to and re-release them as V2.5 TUNED BY LOSI!!! I BET IT WOULD BE A HUGE SUCCESS. LOSI is better than arrma at the 5th scale level.
Good comparison, it’s more of a 1/6th than a true 5th really, true 5th are huge like the Losi 5ive, I prefer my arrmas for 6s vehicles, and 8s traxxas takes the cake in my eyes
Why does everyone get so fussy about the labeled scale of a vehicle lol. "Not a 1/5 scale". By what metric does that have any effect on the purchasing, running, or fun someone has with an rc. On a Facebook group I'm in some guy asked for 5th scale recommendations, and even put (xmaxx, O8s, K8s). Every comment was about none of them being 5th scales, and they wouldn't even give him recommendations. Just said things like "those are toys not true fifth scales" and argued about it instead of helping the guy. Getting caught up in literal semantics instead of trying to help people with the hobby.
I think with arrma you get more for your money. Xmaxx is more tough but not as fun. Arrma is more customizable, crazy motor setups. The heavier the better in my opinion.
Great bash! Always good to see the 8S Outcast get'n it! I would really like to see the 8S Outcast with the J Concepts on it. See how it compares to stock Backflips..
I haven’t ran my outcast 8s long time too , same thing happened and , the axle pin and I gave up 😂 , it’s at the point I have to put money and time , if you spent the time you drive Xmaxx with this guy you will surprise yourself with skills you acquire but definitely right you’re going to pay to play
I took out a loan for my Outcast EXB around September, October. She goes out every time I run. High speed pinion in ,, only thing that broke was a tie rod end last week. Extremely tough twuck. Definitely worth the cabbage
See, now I have more money into my X Maxx’s, because it takes so much to get them to drive correctly. I run my Outcast with a Max5 g2 with the 800kv on 12S and love it, reefs beast 1000 helps with the turning. I think the K8 and O8 are among some of the best handling RC’s out there.
Great vid hey was watching your vid about trying to run other esc equipment with spectrum & even if your lucky enough to get it working it’s just not rite & I had already swapped esc in my vendetta & it seemed to work at first but Next day it took forever for it to work so finaly I got it what I was doing is after turning it on I would arm it like a drone and it worked ,next time I’m I trying & trying to arm it With no luck so Swapped the 100a esc back In But wondering if it will b ok witth 3665 4500kv moter or am I wasting my time asking for trouble lol
I’ve noticed traxxas repair costs are cheap as well, people only really talk about the cost of the car itself. An arrma 8s bulkhead for example is like $30, an x maxx or xrt bulkhead is $20 if you get the upper and lower bulkhead. An arrma 8s front/rear driveshaft is $23, an XMaxx is $16. It’s not a small difference, the same goes for just about all the parts.
I think if Arrma could take 4-5 pounds out of the Outcast 8s EXB then it just might beat the Xmaxx. I have both and love running both, but man is the Outcast heavy….lol Very informative vid Earl as usual.
With the latest version of the rtr outcast , it has the spectrum 1100 kv which is a wY better motor than the 1250 it originally came with and has plenty of power now. That 1100 castle that you have in yours is the same i have in kraton its just a really heavy motor and makes it push in the corners and makes the turning radius to wide, a friend of mine just bought the outcast and it turns on a dime and is an awesome rig out of the box even has a more powerful servo. but its just a heavy rc. I have 2 xmaxx rigs 1 set up for my 1/5 scale track , and one i just bash, and definitely are my favorite rc's but i must have another 500.00 invested into each of them to get them to handle the way i want them to.
Hey! Loving the videos! I recently bought a used xmaxx and the servo is painfully weak/slow. What servo do you run in your xmaxx’s? They seem to be able to manuver very well. Thanks!
@@earlmoorhead5555 do you run upgraded aluminum to help with that? Im running a 1/10 servo with the traxxas adapter and then ran a longer bolt/nut and really tightened the servo saver up. Still wide turns and not as much power as i feel it needs. Ps. Thank you for getting back with me!
@pattm5375 I showed a few video back what sticks and causes the steering issues I’ve never ran the standard servos in the xmaxx and I do tighten up the servos but with the x servo spring that comes in the upgraded kit for the xmaxx
Yeah the rubber body clip leashes are terrible and the body clips too for that matter. I got some of each on Amazon. Stronger/thicker rubber leash and body clips that have a 45. They feel smoother on and off too.
Great info based on experience👍None mentioned are 5th scales, but at least one company doesn't lie about it. Xmaxx would be my choice too except I prefer 1/8 or 1/10.
Boggles my mind why semis still have drum brakes, I wish they would put the 8S on a diet the Outcast and Kraton are so heavy. My biggest problem is the axles they always seem to bend I think they are a bit too long and flex too much I have definitely broke more with them then my Xmaxx they are still great to drive
I know you've been talking about the 8s trucks, but you should really take a look at the hobao hyper MTX 1/8 or the 1/7 mt+2, solid trucks and I've seen a few run on 8s
just to let you know about JConcepts tyres : might have to hold off showing off the magmas snice they always show as out of stock now been waiting for mine for 3 mouths now since you first showed them i hate to say think Florida has gotten lazy i might have to refund them if they don't get stock in soon it's just to let you know if any other try ordering them of late 😔
@earlmoorhead5555 😧 Damn, that long just a pain when they don't respond saying anything about supply... hopefully, they will soon since they seem best for our dearest Xmax 😉
Not in the surface off-road RC hobby industry though. They are very loose with what scale means. It can either mean scale in the true sense of the term as you address in terms of size compared to the real thing or prototype article, or it can be more a description of the build/componentry of the base platform. Think back to the early days of RC. You had 1/10 scale buggies which I don't know probably were 1/10 the size of a true full size off-road race buggy, but then they just slapped some bigger tires and a truck body on the same 1/10 platform, maybe lengthening the chassis and arms a bit and suddenly you had a 1/10 Stadium Truck or Monster Truck...which wasn't truly 1/10 the size of the actual thing. This would be why ARRMA markets the Outcast 8S as a 1/5 scale, because it has the build of a 1/5 buggy platform (think chassis thickness, plastics, hardware, electronics) they just happened to put a truck body and truck tires on it. True the chassis is actually shorter than any of the 1/5 scale buggies out there, but that becomes an advantage in terms of lighter weight, durability, and ability to use this as a stunting RC. Not saying this is right or wrong, just my observation of what the industry does, and it is helpful as a consumer to understand this so you know what you are spending your money on.
@@barbedwirerat661 Unfortunately it is in the surface RC industry. No one was that "loose" with scale until Arrma. No one was labeling 1/6 scale trucks 1/5 until Arrma. That's a massive difference. It's not like the difference between 1/12 and 1/10. The fact is, either the 1/5 Outcast is not 1/5, or the 1/8 is not 1/8. And since the 1/8 is small, but widely acceptable as that scale, it dictates exactly how large a 1/5 should have been. The reality is the 8s is not even 1/6 but close. We have numerous true 1/5 scales to compare it to as well. Not that it's needed since it's just simple math proving the advertising is false.
The weight is what makes them so fun to drive for me. They feel a lot more planted, although if I’m launching it 20’+, I’m doin it with my XMaxx lol. My Arrmas will take it as well but it’s only cause I put several hundred into upgrades and it still make me nervous lol.
Arrma outcast unpowered out of the box!?!? Lmao comes with 1100 and does standing backflips and effortless wheelies. Will even explode the tires off the wheels so no clue what your talking about there
Another example of scale would be a 1/6 Outcast, which would need to have at least a 17.2in wheelbase. So calling these 1/5 is like saying 2 + 2 = 5. It is objectively wrong. But it keeps getting repeated and now Redcat thinks it's ok.
Scale would depend on the real vehicles like a monster truck xmaxx as there is no real outcast or Kraton they size it to what electronics and differential are used but still seems small
@@earlmoorhead5555 Incorrect. The 1/8 outcast exists and many others as well as true 1/5 scales like the Primal Raminator and Grave Digger. Either the 6s Outcast is not 1/8 or the 8s is not 1/5. The math does not add up at all for them to both be accurately labeled. There is no way to justify it. Next will be a mislabeled 1/4 and people will just accept it because it's printed on a box.
@@earlmoorhead5555What's bigger? The 1/8 Outcast is generally smaller than other 1/8s. What I'm trying to explain is, because there is a 6s 1/8 Outcast the math tells us exactly how big a 1/5 should be. Since reality is the 8s is not even 1/6 scale, but close, it's absurd to call it 1/5.
Popular among Americans and maybe the UK. Worldwide Horizon Hobby and their brands are far more popular, they dont have to bully hobby shops to sell products.
Hey I'm a new sub your videos are very very good informational videos but I have a question about my armma notorious 6s v5 it's not pulling wheels I have a castle creations mammba ☓ with 1800kv motor with a 15 tooth pinion gear if you can give me any advice on what I should do that would be great
I’d gear up with the 1800 kv motor as it doesn’t turn as fast as the 2200 black motor maybe try starting at a 20tooth pinion and adjust the punch level in the esc if gearing is not enough 👍
