I would love to see a future video when you do several laps in both trucks (when you get the Team Associated) and see how close (or not) the times are!
That's exactly my plan, I was going to do a full side by side comparison between them, drag racing(Senton wins) then some lap times, then a head to head 10 lap race between them on a track(team associated wins) but they will both have their areas of brilliance over the other. The Senton really is the fastest strait line speed 1/10 out of the box RTR sct on the market, probably the toughest in its class too. It's a truck you can race but was built to be a speed basher. The TA is a race truck built with the track and handling in mind, but you can bash it a little bit, I wouldn't bash it like a Senton though.
Great to see the truck is holding up so well! I just got one a few weeks ago and have yet to really start hammering it. I really like the senton body, and seems to be very high quality too. I laughed so hard when you jumped it straight into a railing at the skatepark lol! Honestly i figured it would go more up, too funny.
I remember you saying before that you haven't broken a gear either. I used to have a bad habit of getting on the throttle too soon in the air during a jump and landing while on the throttle. Since I stopped doing that they've held up much better.
A more experienced person.told me that, then I got to looking around RU-vid and realized how rare it is to see a Senton on the track in an event. Just goes to show more speed doesn't always mean faster.
@@Rek_Rc I did my lil research on the senton.. I was just gonna get it then get to changing it for the course.. idk if I can even legally do that.. 1ot seems to roll on quick turns. New wheels. I like the wheelies, but not for racing.. needs a weight up front, metal diffs......
@@TheHobbyAvenger yeah I'm not sure what can and can't be done to it for racing. I know the minimum weight for 4x4 SCT is usually 2505 grams, I think you can weigh more than that but I don't know by how much, but metal diffs would seem to balance the truck better I would think. Might also help it roll over less coupled with different tires too. It really is a fast truck, but I get the impression it was built as a hard basher, but with racing in mind as an after thought.
Arrma 3s rcs are great from my experience too. Surprisingly I’m one of the few without a broken spur gear yet (abt 3-4 months of basing) but it’s gonna need one soon as it’s pretty worn down. I have had to replace a rear input gear like u have and I’ve also had to replace the main rear diff gear. So all of those breakages are similar to what you have experienced. One other thing I broke was the front shock tower. I’m gonna say this break was totally my fault. I went to a bmx park and was launching it 30-40ft high over and over. Had a horrible landing and the front shock tower snapped. I will say tho that it’s my fault and won’t expect that to happen again. Great long term review!
Thanks buddy as always. You and another channel I've talked to haven't broken a spur gear, which tells me I'm probably being a bit too heavy on the throttle while landing. The nice thing about killing a rear diff is that you can usually just get away with replacing the crown gear as long as it's not leaking. So that removes a few steps from the process. I've heard the metal diffs are worlds better still, but the plastics have been really good to me so far. I'm thinking of going with metal just to see how it is, do you think it would add noticeable weight? The metal spur is noticeably heavier than the plastic but it doesn't seem to feel different driving other than the sound changing slightly.
Change the control arms and turnbuckles over to the Typhon parts, adjust it up and get different off set wheels and tires, its not like you don't need new tires anyway.
It's all fixed up now. Actually going to custom paint a new body for it here this week. Hopefully it won't look like I did in the dark while in a hurry.
Very nice report, on thing I actually had a problem with on my sons vorteks after putting rpm a-arms on was the rear outer hinge pins kept popping out so I sanded the arms down just a bit and fitted Arrma 6s Typhon captured hinge pins, just thought I would share with anybody having that problem
I've had mine for a week. When I drive it its fine.....like put through the privacy fence and bounced it off the house a few times. (No damage) let son drive it, first time both rear wheels flew off mid jump....(Driveshaft screws came loose and hubs came off) and then his 2nd time out, bent front shock and ripped front bumper clean off.
Wow, that impressive in a way, because mine did 3 or 4 skatepark trips before it even broke one A-arm. But eventually my front bumper also came off along with the skidplate after almost 2 years of bashing.
@@Rek_Rc Yes Banggood has great prices but take forever. We both need to get back out there and make another video. It's either a hard bash with my AMP until it breaks or maybe my Typhon. I really hate to get it dirty. lol
@@RCRoads I think the AMP bash would be cool, the Typhon is the one arrma 3s car that even though it's tough like the rest, I imagine I wouldn't want to bust it up either, not sure why, I just feel like I wouldn't want to rough it up. One of the cars I'm waiting on is just a few days out now so I'm hoping that next weekend I can get a new review video up. But I also bought a Y harness and ran my senton on 4s parallel with duel 2s batteries and to my amazement it worked. I didn't push it hard at all, but I'm thinking of doing a speed test video of it running 4s on the stock 3s system.
@@Rek_Rc That would be awesome. I'm heading to the hobby store now to pick up some stuff. Maybe I should get a Y connector too and try it out on my Typhon on 4s. I have seen others do this and the motor survives but the ESC is the weak link. Honestly it should work for short burst but not long runs. I recently replaced my V1 Senton with a Boost version & just swapped the diffs/driveshafts/motor & ESC over & boom.. A brand new Senton for £180.!!😂 😂 😂 👍 👍 👍 Over it's 2 & a half year life I've only gone through a slipper clutch, a couple of spur gears (I've just ordered a metal one) a centre driveshaft, a set of link ends & 3 or 4 diffs. I used it a lot, like 3 or 4 times a week. Also.. I'm an even worse driver than you.!
Just got my 3s senton last week , running a lipo in it, how do I know if lipo low voltage is enabled on the esc ? Does it come standard setup with lipo low voltage enabled? Don't want to ruin another battery....thanks in advance
You can grab one on Amazon. They're like 30 dollars but worth every cent. They are 57 tooth, Arrma even has a store of their own in Amazon you can order directly from them.
The Senton might not handle as well as TA or Losi but it would definitely out handle a Granite and it can still bash just as good. I can tell you drive it a lot because it has many scars. I thinks it's a great thing that you might be getting into competitive racing. I'm sure I would place last if I tried it but who cares at least I would enjoy it.
This truck sure has had a lot of "character" beat into it by now lol. It's funny because they really are as far as I know, the fastest 10th scale rtr sct out of the box. On asphalt I put my money on a senton 3s to beat any other 10th scale sct out of the box in a drag race (unless gyro is involved), but the track more focused trucks really are noticeably better in turns and general stability. But I agree that even if I place dead last every time, which is likely, racing the new truck will be so much fun I wouldn't notice winning or losing anyways.
@@Rek_Rc ha ha .. Yes you beat the hell out of your Senton but it keeps going. The Spectrum electronics are very dependable and fast. I wonder what electronics ie.. motors and ESC's come in the Team Associated short course rc's? I can't wait to see your new car after you get it all set up and ready to race. Hopefully you will come into some money and get 2 cars for racing and kick ass. You should take donations if at all possible. You do have lots of friends and maybe even a sponsor. @@RCRoads I can't thank you enough for the kind words as always friend. I believe the TA SCT also has the same or similar reedy electronics to your MT 10, if there is a difference I would suspect it's probably just pinion size out of the box. Funny thing is that I can find tons of video of the TA SCT 4pro but not a single one doing a stock speed run. I don't think they hit 50 out of the box, but I'm told speeds in the 40s is what to expect, but they are said to be very smooth and if it's at all similar to your MT 10, I believe it. The senton is quite a handful to drive fast so I'm assuming the TA SCT is much more stable based on what I hear.
@@Rek_Rc The MT10 seems to be very comparable in punch as lets say the Granite 3s. Don't quote me on this but the reedy motor seems to be smaller in physical size than the Firma Spectrum BLX 100. The top speed might be less but who's to say. I should do a proper speed test and research the gearing on both. Are you allowed to use any 3s system for racing ? I have no idea but do they have stock class and modified?
Ohh cmon… your front bumper is smashed even on the video this i no 1 part to break and first to change… it breaks from watching it… i know 6 guys including me whochanged it several times
