Goodbye Arrogate. You gave so much in such a short career. What a ride. So sorry for your loss. I hope your sons and daughters will carry on your legacy.
Mike is wonderful at maneuvering a race horse from last position....great experience with the Mighty Zenyatta and as it would be, that's who's name came up when interviewed....I love you Mike, I love Zenyatta and I love Arrogate... CHAMPIONS🏇🏇❤👊
Legend. Couldn't believe it when I heard the news. He had that supernatural magic of the greatest ones of all time. Run in peace through the perfect, never ending pastures big boy.
I watched the Dubai World Cup live and I cried, Arrogate is amazing. I just wish he still had that fire after the race but I love that horse no matter if he wins or loses
This is why I love Horse racing. It really isn't about the Jockey. They just manage those kind of horses. The horse just wants to be in front of the pack by nature and they love running. He could have not even used the whip. RIP Big A.
I was 8 when Secretariat Won the TC. I wasn’t into horse racing yet. He was in my lifetime but I never really watched him sadly. That said, the 4 races that Arrogate ran in a row were the BEST I have ever seen. He was a nobody and set the Travers track record in Sec. time of 1:59 2/5. He then caught loose on the lead Horse of the Year Cali Chrome @ the wire of the Breeders Cup Classic. The Richest race at the time Pegasus was a drubbing of Cali Chrome and Gun Runner and the last was this missed the break last to first win in Dubai. Sadly I think he red lined in that last race as he never was the same in his three final races before retirement. I hated he went out that way but Nobody can take away that incredible 4 race streak that was the best horse I’ve ever seen run. To quote Bob Baffert “he took my breath away” RIP Big A
Not only this race but when this piece aired originally I cry every time. It was incredible how Mike adapted his typical riding with Arrogate and had to be forced to ride like he did Zenyatta and it worked
Mine That Bird did the same thing in the 2009 Kentucky Derby--came from a far dead last to win by squeezing in on the rail! Absolutely amazing ride by Calvin "Boo" Borel--actually the best ride ever by any jock! You go Boo!
I guess everyone has forgotten about the greatest horse to ever run and that was Secretariat. He said he's never seen a horse do that before come from the back and win like that. Secretariat did it and broke track records that still stand today.
Kelso, Citation, Sea the stars, Native Dancer, Phar Lap, spectacular Bid, Frankel, Man o War, Ribot, and others you could all make an argument for "greatest." There are many great racehorses besides secretariat. I believe both Frankel, Sea the stars, and Flightline all ranked higher than Secretariat in Timeform.
Mike Smith I must also say you are poetry in motion on a horse!!!! you have so little motion on top a horse"! never before except for george wolpe have i seen this just the best Mike..!!
RIP Beautiful Boy,I can't believe your really gone. You gave us So Many Amazing Moment's and we are grateful.Hopefully your Son's and Daughter's can do the same...You might be gone but you will Never Ever Be Forgotten...💜💜💜
That was a heck of a race, reminds me of a couple other great horses one being who Mike said Zenyatta, I won’t mention the other who was known for coming from last to first cause this is about this handsome boy! Arrogate had great face markings I just loved his face! He will be missed but at least his Legacy will live on! RIP handsome boy!
I have watched all of Arrogates races every track was a solid dirt surface, except the 2 he has lost. The dirt at these 2races was very soft and loose and his feet went down above his ankles. I no he is still a champ,JUST WAIT FOR THE BREEDER'S CUP CLASSIC. 💙
Thank you. I spilled our luggage. You are alive. You did not die (because you wrote your name at the top of the two sides of the world. When the World Cup is mentioned to me, horse racing mentions your name. How is the dead person who died with whom his memory died).
It’s like Wayne Lucas said , that some horses make a move for about 100 yards some 200 and so forth but he also said the Great ones when they make their move never stop they keep coming like Arrogate just demonstrated.
Mark Cain thank u for this information.i watched the race but had no idea that he was injured.but later races that i watched,i was so disappointed he couldnt finish one race,in the other he came 4th,and 2nd in another.so sad,i wanted him to finish as group 1 winner, but thats life.
This race is like the work of Saudi Arabia to the world, there are those who are trying to hinder it. But the power of God wants to show him in the lead.
In the past, Smith has always adamantly claimed that Zenyatta was/is the best horse he's ever ridden. I wonder if that's still his answer after having ridden both Arrogate and now a Triple Crown winner in Justify since Zenyatta?
In my opinion out of those three, Arrogate is the best, Zenyattas second and Justify is third. Arrogates speed figures are just unnatural, Zenyatta was a freak of nature, and Justify is waaay overrated. Justify never once proved himself against older horses, and the crop of 3 year olds he raced against weren't all that great.
Arrogate was naturally gifted in a way that few horses ever are. I bet Mike Smith would say that Arrogate had more raw talent than any horse he rode. Bob Baffert who not only trained 2 triple crown winners, but had many other great horses still says to this day that Arrogate was the best horse he ever trained.
@@maxwellsmart0217 He wasn't injured, he never would've won the race if he was injured. He just wasn't into racing anymore, I think this race just burnt him out. He was checked by multiple vets when he performance went down and he never had any injuries.
