Super Gary! 😂 I like it.! You had a good day despite the headache. That always makes for a tough time to focus. I always bring a backpack with the essentials including headache medicine and toilet paper….😃 Sweet tiny point on the way out too!
I'm surprised I found it too. I think a migraine is exactly what I had. Was kinda dizzy and I got real sensitive to the light while I was out there. Thanks for stoppin by Hannah!
Congrats on that monster 🤙, I'd guess spade or hoe 👌. I get headaches like that myself it seems inevitable not to get one 🙈. But hey, some cool artifacts and a nice faker drill 😅, that little birdie is as cool as they come, and we can't forget about SUPER GARY!!!. Good luck out there ✌️
Great hunt. You have a nice SOP and flow to the videos. Absolutely off-the-wall post-edits lol...and you keep the segments brief as to not make it a video of the ground going by...Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and share.
All I can say is, thank you very much for the kind words. You don't know how much of an encouragement this comment was for me. Thank you for watching and providing me feedback and thank you for watching!
What an amazing day for you finding the biggest and smallest haha. We both found some big pieces 🤙🏼That bird point was unlike any material I have ever seen you find! (Loved super gary, i know that audio took a long time to do)
Yeah, I'm not sure what the material is on that birdie. I use to never find small points (AT ALL) until this year and now I've found like 5. But that birdie is my smallest. Yes, the audio took a while but I had fun making it
First thing, never turn your back on a snapping turtle. He was stalking you, until you turned around 😮 Always like a Gary or 2. The little one was pretty cool, might have shot around corners with it and a bent shaft 😅. I wish there were fossils like what you find around here, I might have to go Megalodon tooth hunting this summer. My guess is that big piece is the bottom end of a mastodon carving knife 🔪, the black part pictured above 😂 ☝ GL next hunt 👍
Once upon a time I had a chick who stalked me for a summer or so and after that experience... yeah, i'll take the turtle any day, hahaha! That little birdie definitely had a good curve to it for sure. Musta been made out of a flake if I had to guess.
Yeah, your guess is as good as mine! A pretty knowledgeable friend suggested a broken spade and I see that, since posting this video, a few other people have suggested a digging tool as well. So maybe that's what it is? Thanks Mackie!
Awesome video great finds congrats I maybe wrong i think thats a broke base of a paleo spear could have been 15 or more inch long i maybe wrong i dont think so tho yup the rest if it run off in a mastodon🐘
Idk if their were any Phillistines in ok. I could be wrong, the big piece is likely a root digging tool broken. The Gary with the impact fracture , Perino would get really excited because only green bone can produce tip fractures like that!!!
That is veeery interesting about the green bone impact fracture. So, that thing probably entered an animal (or person) and struck bone? Makes you wonder if it killed what it hit or if something hobbled around for the rest of its life with a fragment lodged inside them?
Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Do you carry a first aid kit? Get a small package of Excedrin, which claims to be "The Headache Medicine" and it is. Many bad mornings, after fun nights in the Army, were saved by Excedrin! And... Did you say, "Rats"? 😉
You know, I actually don't carry a first aid on me but that's a good idea. I always wear a camel pack with plenty of water though. It was just one of those freak headaches from hell! Yes, I said rats... haha
You been in my valley?🤣🤣. Hoe or a spade yes. I was checking ol Super there remember that one you found couple months back had the diamond type base? any way lol. That noid was a killer. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍💤
that true arrowhead is cool , made very quickly to be deadly and sharp but not too fancy . perfect for smaller deer sized game and could easily take larger with good shot placement. true arrowheads were never really wasted on birds when a blunt heavy shaft would be much better as it would kill without passing through and loosing valuable arrows, preserve meat and it wont puncture hide on small mammals . this is what archaeology shows us , specialised blunt arrows for bird hunting , not so called "bird points" this is what actual stone arrowheads look like , not these whacking great pine trees and pedernales things that get called arrowheads . i would love to see someone haft something 2 x bigger and thicker than the largest levannah point , they would have a real hard job ! very cool find but i wish collectors would drop the "bird point" misnomer , i believe it devalues these amazing artifacts as i lost could the amount of times i hear " just a bird point" these ARE the true arrowheads that everyone should picture when thinking of native american archery and the history of . they may be small but they are lethal . display this with pride knowing you have an actual true arrowhead ! very nice
Yes, I believe you're correct about the true purpose of "bird points" and "arrowheads". And you provided some good examples of why the smaller points would not have been good for birds and why the large ones would not have been good for arrowheads. I do use misnomers sometimes, mostly out of habit - partly because I like the term due to its familiarity. The language has a history all its own. I don't disagree totally that the misnomer can devalue the artifact's historical worth - I believe it can if an individual chooses not to do their own research. But that's left up to the individual. Knowledge is free but wisdom is earned. One the other hand, I find the misnomer itself to be an interesting historical romanticizing of the artifact and its true purpose. To me, and I think to many, "arrowhead" is just a broad term whose implication is more or less understood. I've had many people remind me that "arrowhead" and "bird point" aren't typically the correct terminology. I always appreciate the reminder but it is something I've learned already. Partly because of wiser people informing me and partly because it's not hard to figure out the physics of it all on one's own(I spent a LOT of time making bows and arrows in my backyard as a little boy while playing cowboys and indians, haha) I think it's important to recognize that the misnomer "arrowhead" and it's unique use are now part of the American cultural fabric. American Indians aren't really Indians either, of course. But the lore behind the misnomer "Indian" is a beloved part of our shared heritage. I don't use misnomers to try and misguide anyone. I simply use the language that's been familiar to me since I was a kid. It comes naturally. It's kind of like how everyone in Oklahoma calls any kind of carbonated beverage a "pop". Most people know "pop" isn't a specific drink. Rather, they know it's a broad term that encompasses the entire gambit of carbonated soda beverages. Nevertheless, I DO appreciate your taking the time to comment and offer this information in the public forum. It is important for everyone, including myself, to be reminded. Finally, let me be clear on something, I don't claim or present this channel as an educational resource. It remains purely as a hobby for me. I've disclaimed numerous times before that I have no training or expertise and am, myself, a novice at best. At the end of the day, one's own education is one's own responsibility entirely and I'm very much for every person doing their own diligent research on everything that they have an interest in. Sorry for the lengthy response - I hope it doesn't come off as a scolding rebuttal because I don't think you were upset or being accusatory of me. I just thought you left a good, thoughtful comment and I think it required a thoughtful response and a clarification on behalf of my own shortcomings in my terminology. Thank you for watching!
@@meandmyshadow6269 i really enjoy all your finds , been subbed for quite a while . somehow i convince myself that everyone should listen to my opinion on arrowheads and i get trigger happy with the keyboard . your response makes total sense and i probably knew that you knew all this already and that it is a collector /broad term that has stuck rather than a misnomer . perhaps its not that important we get the terminology correct anyway , if it looks good on display and gives you that feeling thats all that counts !
@@captainflint89 I'm really glad you made the comment that you made. I didn't take offense to it and I didn't perceive you were implying any offense toward me either. It's good you put the information in there for others to read. And I do think correct terminology is important too. Glad you have a passion for it. I'll try and remember to mention more often in my videos that I'm just using layman's terms sometimes so people might be encouraged to look into it for themselves. Thanks so much for the loyal viewership and being a sub, Captain! Your input is always welcome here
@@captainflint89 p.s. you didn't seem trigger happy on the comment to me. I myself, have been far more guilty of being trigger happy in comment sections of videos way more than i'd like to admit! Lol
A pretty knowledgeable source told me it's possibly a broken spade and showed me so photo examples. A few other people have commented as well and agreed. But anything is possible! What's your guess? (thanks for watching!)
Yeah, you can tally that one up for the "not at all" department, hahaa. But hey, it got the blood pumping and the imagination swirling and that's all that matters
