Arrowhead Plants grow fast, get dense, & at some point will need a bit of pruning. They have soft stems that tend to get heavy with foliage at the ends as they age. I like to periodically trim the ends to keep them in shape. Arrowhead Plant propagation is easy & there are 2 simple ways to do it by stem cuttings.
Arrowhead Plants are vines by nature so if you want them to stay more compact, you’ll need to some pruning 2 or 3 times a year. As long as you’re pruning, why not propagate a few of the cuttings?

Gosh Nell, what a huge Syngonium, I have found that they are really easy to propagate, I have always done the water propagation, I haven't ever tried the straight into soil, that doesn't always work for me. suzanne here, soft stems correct but tough roots, for sure, that is why they do well in water, i took 2 of mine out of the dirt, to grow in water, i had many so wanted some growing in water

Syngoniums are one of my favorites! I'm rooting some now as my gorgeous Pink Splash had root rot? (didn't like the soil she came in!) It's going slow as it's Dec here and very cold. They are sprouting!

Hi - Yes, this Arrowhead is a good size! I haven't done any videos on propagating shrubs, just planting them. By evergreens I'm assuming you mean conifers? I don't have much experience with them so I leave that for someone with a lot more knowledge on the subject. Nell x

Your syngonium is huge. Did you check to see if it was root bound? I'm surprised the roots were not coming out the bottom. Thanks for sharing your skills with us and looking forward to the next video.

Hello! I clipped some and put them in water as you did and many of the leaves are starting to curl up pretty tightly. Does this mean they the plant is dying?

Do you ever sell cuttings online or have recommendations for buying locally? I'm always looking for houseplants well adapted to our incredibly dry climate. My most successful plants are always the 6" cuttings from my neighbor, any nursery plants have a rough adjustment period.

When I put plants in water, I use stagnant water or better yet, rainwater, and add a teaspoon (or two, depending on the amount of water) of sugar

How is that different from propagating caladium because they look the same. Especially when they are variegated and multi-colored.

Yes you can. I did my stem propagation in water and it worked. It took a little longer than the others with leaves.

Can I put my cut stems water?? (literally stems only no nodes or roots… single leaf stems) My plant just doesn’t have nodes at all. It’s the kind where it’s a single leaf per each stem and… 1.) I just want it bushier. How do I do that? And 2.) Can I chop stems and propagate in water?

I'm extremely new to the plant world really, I never had an interest until I got all my geckos and wanted them to have bioactive enclosures, as close to natural habitats as I could get. This may be a dumb question to those who have been gardening for a long time, but does the propagation "time" really matter when a plant is kept indoors under uv lights at a steady temperature all year? I got a syngonium podophyllum maria allusion from lowes and it is so dense I am contemplating taking some off to add to my other terrariums. I just feel bad for the little baby leaves on the inside because they get zero light and it seems like a waste to have a super compact and dense plant in one corner of one terrarium without using it to it's fullest potential. Any tips are appreciated. Just don't let me kill my plant please 😆 (Don't know if this will make a difference in the advice I may receive, but my plant was from a 4 inch pot and is still completely upright but like I said very, very dense) Ha, just noticed I have the baby version of your pruners, I got them a while back for crafting because the regular handles always hurt when cutting a lot of small things at a time. I love them so much for pruning plants and keep them really sharp, they are better for that than for crafting actually

No, it shouldn’t matter for this plant especially if it’s under light all the time. You might want to take a cutting that has slightly older leaves. Considering I’m answering this pretty late, those young leaves must be big by now. I don’t know how a plant would do under light 24/7 as they usually photosynthesise in the day and need the night to respire. If the leaves are lookin yellow, keep em in sun for a while and control how much you water. Hope I helped :)
