When I saw my Arrowhead Plant hanging in the greenhouse at Green Things I wondered, “should I get it?” I grew one successfully in Santa Barbara for years but Tucson (where I now live) is a tougher climate for tropical houseplants. I’ve had it for almost a year & so far so good. Follow along, because I’m sharing Arrowhead Plant care & growing tips along with other things I’ve learned about this popular houseplant.
Arrowhead Plant has the genus Syngonium & also goes by Arrowhead Vine & Nephthytis.
Arrowhead Plants are native to the tropical rainforests where they climb up plants & grow along the ground. They prefer as much humidity as they can get. I live in the dry Sonoran Desert where the humidity averages around 25% so I have a couple of horticultural tricks up my sleeve which you’ll find in the post.

It looks delicate but it's actually quite sturdy. I rarely get a yellow leaf even here in the desert. Getting the watering down is key. Nell

Your syngonium is pretty! Love the pot it is in. Mine was the first one of the first house plants I got years ago from my mother when I moved out. It put up with a lot of neglect/learning different lighting situations... many years later and I have many syngonium babies(err.. plant adults now) from the mother. Wonderful plant.

really stunning plant. my home in montana is WAY too cold and i get almost no light in my home so this plant would never work for me. I appreciate learning about different plants though. I recently got a new starfish sanseveria that is doing well and twin golden pothos as well! Plants make a home so vibrant!

Plants are wonderful Cathy! So many are billed as low light plants (they'll tolerate it) but do much better & actually grow in moderate to high light. Snake Plants are quite adaptable & tolerant of many conditions. Enjoy the beautiful Montana summer! Nell

Mine is not bushy. :( it's tall and throwing out lots of new leaves but it's spindly looking. I heard you say to tip cut it but then I would be cutting so much of the plant off.

Beautiful.. I have a ?.. I purchase an Arrowhead. I know nothing, but what was told to me at the nursery. Which was to water the plant when I get home. Done, but notice some days later that water drop are on the leaves... did I do something wrong? I'm really nervous HELP

Mine is 6' away from a set of 3 east facing windows. It get a lot of light but nothing direct. This 1 needs the light to bring out the pink variation. Nell

So I purchased an arrangement for Christmas last year and this was part of the arrangement. It died, so I thought..It came back out of nowhere and wow is it beautiful!! I was very surprised it came back from nothing! I now know how to care for it thanks to your video! Thank you for sharing!!
