First time I've ever seen this, and Pat Jennings was awesome in that game. It was those 4 replayed games that tired out an already limited squad of just 16 players! Think the 70 games in a season is still a record even today.
70 is still the record for 1st class games played,43 years now. It’s a record that will probably never be beaten, as the league is only 38 games now and you don’t get endless replays in cup competitions. The season started with the 3-1 charity shield defeat to Liverpool and ended with a 5-0 defeat to Middlesbrough. We played Liverpool 7 times that season and only lost once.
@John Jensen Glad your so sure but we pissed all over you at Wembley, in 90 minutes the only shot Phil Parkes had to save was the free kick from Talbot and held on to it! That was it. COYI ⚒⚒⚒
I think the semi final where better than the final I think arsenal took its tul and arsenal where just so tired against West ham in the final we where to tired in the final
How did Liverpool lose that game? They dominated it. Arsenal didn't have the courtesy to commiserate their opponents and not one player shook the hand of the Liverpool team. Well done to the Hammers for putting that right in the final😅
Yeah, run out of steam didn’t ya, cos we only played 59 games that season! ⚒ Belt up you muppet, you tried to win 4 trophies and you won none, you were a victim of your own success, so stop moaning. You got well by us in the cup final, a 2nd division team, looks like you polishing your defence for being in the ESL!
@@spm36 iim going to set fire to Alan Sunderlands 79 hair. Yeah, as Will Ferrell says, waddup? You never seen a cockney afro meet its maker....Brady Bunch this mofo!
When you think about it if any of all the London clubs I’ve got history with Liverpool number one team is arsenal 100% cup competitions against each other competitive and famous famous 1989 Michael Thomas last-minute goal and many more even yesterday 1-1 draw at Anfield. Spurs got nothing nothing with Liverpool or Man Utd we’ve got rich, history with him also winning the league at Old Trafford Ferguson Wenger years . 😂😂 Tottenham’s got nothing on us 14 league titles and a few doubles as well 😂😂 Spurs won only 1 league title eerrrrrr 1961 yes 1 and they say big club oh please they are scratching around scratching at the crumbs😂😂
Would've gone to penalties had this replay also ended drawn. This is not the first time the FA sanctioned the use of penalty shootouts to decide drawn FA Cup ties; the early 1970's featured third place playoffs (these being the only FA Cup games where penalties could be used), I believe 4 such playoffs were actually played (and one was settled by penalties). Thankfully the FA scrapped these utterly pointless matches in the mid 70's. The FA only made penalty shootouts a permanent feature from the 1991-92 season onwards.
