This game and the ‘89 Anfield match are the two games I remember so well from my childhood! As I was born in the 80’s this was the first time I saw them win a trophy 🏆. My love for the Gooners has never wained. COYG
Great memories of this. The Liverpool fans were magnificent. So loud and passionate even in defeat, and they applauded the Arsenal players graciously at end. So much of Arsenal's subsequent acheivements were started from this team. The mentality of the famous defence and Arsenal spirit that was the basis of the Wenger years was built by George.
March Irving yep! I guess I have been lucky to be born and grow up witnessing all the great Arsenal teams in the last few decades. George Graham, Wenger (we won’t talk about Emery) and I really feel Arteta gets it; it’s really down to investment, I believe...
As a Newcastle fan I'd happily lose a League Cup Final and then an FA Cup Final a year later if it meant we won the league, then the FA Cup and then the League again. Oh to support Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal or a Manchester club!
Little did I know this was my 1st cup final watching Liverpool.. 35 years later and 9 Cup finals on Inc paris in May I still await my 1st win Present.... jinx
I think this was my 1st ever full match I watched age 9 years old 😊 verrrrrrrrrrry happy memories.. barnes beardsley Aldridge Houghton wer devastating several months later
I missed that season totally . I was in America at the time (Pretending to have a green card lol ) and found out about it in an English newspaper I bought . Bloody typical hehehe .
I remember watching this. I was a young Liverpool supporter and couldn't believe they lost. I have been watching a lot of these classics and the linos officiating was beyond bad. You think it's bad now? It was catastrophic back then. This game had a few shockers. I'll give a couple of examples 1:47:10 - you can see Perry Groves is at least a couple of yards on side. 1:52:38 - Spackman, well onside. I've gone through a number of games and they are littered with terrible lino offside calls. But they were almost never brought up on it. They literally didn't know the rules or know what they were doing.
