Hi Charles, you should consider creating a a PO Box so us viewers can send you gifts - maybe some nice Arsenal related bits and pieces to hang up in your new studio when you move! Cheers Dan
Hey Charles, just finished watching the Netherlands and Austria game. 1st point is having a laugh at United- this Austria team has been one of the best at the Euro’s and watching Ragnick succeed while United have struggled since he left gives me a good laugh. My second point is Xavi Simmons- he was the best player for the Dutch today and am convinced he would be great for us. If all PSG want is 50 mil then I think it’s a no brainer! Cheers from Milwaukee in the US! - Josh
The problem with the Rice criticism is that people, including Neville, have narrow minded views of roles based on(numbered) positions. We (Arsenal) don't but based on positions, we buy based on skill sets. Rice has a skill set, Jorgi has a different skill set, they both can play in the same area of the pitch or not depending on what the coach wants. Arteta uses the typical 6 skill set in the 8 position both with Xhaka and with Rice. Havertz doesn't change what he does when he plays 9 to when he plays 8? I don't think so. Even the goal keeper, a position you can only buy a certain player for, was upgraded by getting a player with a certain skill set that our current keeper, who's still a top keeper, didn't have. The gap between them may not be that huge but for arsenal to progress they need a certain skill set. On a similar note just because Nketiah doesn't fit Arsenal's tactics, doesn't mean his skill set won't suit another team. Even though he's incompatible with Arteta's tactics he's proven a decent goal scorer in the league.
Rice is great but that is not his strength he can't be alone six he is not a deep lying play maker he is a fighter, breaks play and move forward with the ball unlike Partey and Gorghino who can sit deep and give those killer passes.
@@charlesoronmigwa2625I think you're wrong, rice can absolutely play as a lone 6 as he has shown before, we just didn't have a decent LCM to complement both rice and ødegaard and rice had to move up the pitch based on the fact he could hold his own as a left 8, while still complementing jorginho/partey for their defensive roles, so we could see his best in the 6 if he has like, I.e eze and ødegaard in front of rice and timber tucking in to assist with build up
@@jacobalexander4167 nope he is not a deep lying playmaker and a lone 6 must do that. If he is to play there alone then you must have a fullback who can help him out either Timber or Zinchenko
This is Ola, from Canada, Guirassy is a risk worth taking....we shd meet up with his release clause and then use the rest of the transfer budget for a winger, Eze/8 and a left back.
I think it’s probably best I don’t comment too much on England, because I don’t want to depress everyone. All I will say, is that we are in an extremely favourable bracket - and no matter how prehistoric Southgates tactics are, I can’t ignore the possibility that the quality of the XI alone could still see us have a very memorable tournament. Such is the nature of tournament football. I don’t think I’ll be watching anymore ITV coverage though - last night was my final straw.
Rice can play 6 or 8. The question should be who can we get that bests compliments him, Odegaard, and the rest of our midfield. Once we have that player, we can work out where everyone plays in training later. Kroos is currently everyone's poster child of a controller yet his name is always displayed on the team sheet at the left 8. Playing Rice at 8 just means we'd ask him to do more going forward and the 6 to stay back more. The issue with our midfield for the first half of last season was that Odegaard was forced to come deeper to get on and progress the ball, which then reduced what he could do in the final third. Some of that was done to playing both Rice and Kai together, along with the injury issues we had at full back. Partey at RB to start the season was probably to help Rice progress so Kai and Ode could stay further forward but that didn't last long. Had Xhaka stayed at left 8 or we replaced him more like for like, I don't think we would've had the same issues.
Hi Charles 👋, I hope all is good 👋 👦 ☺️ 👍 😊 🙏. I feel confident 😉 that Arsenal will have a strong 💪 squad next season and win 🏆 silverware God willing. Have a good day Charles 😂. Arsenal rocks 🏆 🙏 🤲 🪨 🎸 😎.
Hi Charles…..watched England play today and they were awful! The midfield is packed with zero creativity. Jude and Foden cannot play together as they seem to have similar roles. Dropping Grealish was such a bad gamble as he is far better equipped to play on the wings than Foden. Jude plays with speedy wingers at Madrid so why doesn’t Southgate mimic that diamond formation with Jude as a false 9 and flanked by Saka and Gordon? England won’t make it to the semis with this setup. Okay, now Arsenal, i think we should be looking at Savio on loan at Girona, the kid can balll and is a nightmare on the wings for Brazil. I also think we should sign Joao Gomes from Wolves and Zubimendi by all means this summer. They are upgrades to Jorginho and Partey. I like Onana and Fofana but i like those two way more. We need to fix the gaps in midfield and need younger legs to breakdown any counters. Augustine from 🇬🇭 via 🇺🇸
Indeed English pundits are predictable, eze has never played 8, the guy is a winger, I find it baffling anyone is linking him to Arsenal's solution to the deep lying creative midfielder solution 🙄
ACTUALLY WATTS RICE DOESN’T PLAY 6È WAY ARTETA WANTS TO PLAY, HE IS NOT A BALL PLAYER, HE WAS ONLY MOVED TO 8BECAUSE HAVERTZ WASN’T WORKING THERE AND FOUND TO BE BETTER AT CF🚨🚨🚨 DEFENSIVELY HE IS GREAT, BUT THAT’S NOT HOW ARTETA WANTS TO PLAY SO HEY💀😂🤣🚨🚨🚨
Sorry Charles - I think your interpretation of Neville’s comments miss the mark. He was saying that you won’t get the best out of Rice at 6, and Arteta realised that as the season progressed. The main reason being - your number 6 (in the positional game) needs to dictate play more with forward pass penetration. That’s why we struggled in the early part of the season for fluidity as we missed Partey. Then Arteta changed it. It’s not to say Rice can’t play 6 - it’s to say it’s not ideal - he’s right!
No, arteta played him there in preseason and Community shield. Arteta didn't realise anything he knows his players. Even HavertZ played as a CF before the end of the season s run .
@@i_am_Wil the guy is right, Rice is not a big club 6, at least not a single 6. You want them to be prime Fabinho, prime Jorginho, everyday's Rodri. Rice will learn to an extent, but team (and we were) will stay hostages of such slow thinking 6.
@@alekseifedorov949 Everyone in the Arsenal community were questioning if Rice was able to progress the ball at Arsenal in October. Now it's someone else saying it and he's bang out of order...?! Rice isn't terrible at it, he's just not good enough at it for us to win the league..
@@Gooner184 No he wasn't. He was rusty for 2 substitute appearances, then arguably in the luton home game but afterwards he helped us win every game. Including manure and suds away and battering Chelsea 5-0.. He was good, good enough to keep Jorgi out.
Charles , Don’t worry about the house, despite the space constraints and the kids with their din , I don’t know how you managed to write a book along with your journalism and podcasting . Well done .
Love that they've got the players out there doing that. Saves the players paying some third party out there to train them. Do it with the club, best for everyone involved. The players get more time with the coaches and a chance to show the club why to keep them around.
Great to hear you can move house Charles - it sounds hectic working the way you have so far. You've done amazing job juggling it all and we all can see what effort you put in and still maintain your roles as father, husband, son and bread winner. Love your down to earth style.
The Rice discourse is normal for Arsenal players. Other clubs players dodge bullets like Batfink from the media but our players always get unnecessary comments from ex player's.
Much respect to you Charles but on the Martinelli situation yesterday Brazil v Costa Rica you didn't see what I saw. He came on in the 80 min 0-0 and didn't try anything. Was hesitant, even his simple passes were inaccurate. Savio looked more like the martinelli we knew last night. He doesn't look like he's fighting to get into the XI anymore. He's not looking for his shot or anything I'm worried he's become comfortable with the idea of just being a role player. He doesn't look like he has a belief that he is on Vini and Rodrygos level. That injury must have really done a number on him mentally. Its just the first game in Copa but I am worried about him. Brazilian reporters keep asking if he's worried about losing his spot at Arsenal too maybe he should have gone to the Olympics where he could be the main focus of the Brazil team and regain his drive
Hi Charles - If the reports are to be believed, Eze could very well be the battle of the transfer window for some of the ‘big six’. If it does come down to it and we do make a move for him, you’d think Arsenal are in a very strong position with both club and player, seeing as we can offer a direct replacement for him (who we know Palace want), and given Eze’s links to Arsenal anyway. Can’t help but think that this is a signing that would elevate our football. For all the talk of Martinelli and his poor season, he had no stability on that left hand side. No meaningful partnerships. Just imagine the season he could have with a player like Eze in that left 8, drawing so many players into him. Gabi + space to run = money If we do sign him, watch that space. Gabi X Eze.
It's very very very clear the Ktoenkes are a disgrace as owners and should sell the club and be gone. They are once again taking money out of the club. Aryeta.and edu and NOT being backed at all. Its.ckear the squad is a total mess. We need two strikers, a RW, Two midfielders and a beast defender
Conor Gallagher was worse. I have never seen a midfielder runaway from receiving the ball from the back. The agenda must be to criticize an Arsenal player over the loved Chelsea player.
I would venture to suggest that the best way to deal with Neville is to not deal with him. He is totally irrelevant, and the next time I listen to his whining little voice spewing bile about any non United player will be the first time. His acumen and skill at assessing the ability of footballers and how to manage them is legendary, and not in a good way, as his record would suggest.
The longer the players have to prepare for the new season, the fewer injuries they'll likely get. Start off very gently a couple of weeks before they start the hard stuff and they'll have a better base fitness when they start pushing themselves. This seems a good idea as long as they had a decent break between the end of the season and this Spanish trip.
motm against luton? always looks lively when coming on. Can’t expect him to get loads of goals and assists with the limited game time he’s had. Eddie for example never gets any goals from the bench but has a great ratio when starting.
Charles doesn't understand football finance. Once you take Eddie's 7m pa salary no one is going to pay much more then the number you suggested. He is a 10 to 15 goals a season striker. If he was a 20 goal striker then I would agree to 20 to 30m valuation.
