@@olodiandrew219Whats with this obsession with playing Timber midfield? I swear online fans are the dum*est, u gonna experiment with timber in midfield against City at the Etihad? Wtf 🙄
Hello Charles, absolutely right, Big Gaby definitely deserves a big contract, before he used to have a little mistake in him, even you used to say as well but no wow! What a beast, goals he scores just extra pleasure for us, he loves defending and he can defend. Also very big credit to Arteta for improving him, those little mistakes is a past forgoten.
We need a rested Saka for Sunday more than we need him at all on Thursday. I wouldn’t even put him on the plane to Italy. Also Jorghino looked absolutely gassed after Sunday, I would rest him Thursday on bench and start him Sunday. And I would go slower with G. Jesus return than starting him on Thursday. G. Jesus and Nwaneri coming off the bench around the 65 minute mark. Raya White-Saliba-Gabriel-Kiwior Havertz-Partey-Rice Sterling-Trossard-Martinelli
I’d like to see partey get some rest, start rice and Jorginho. Agree with Saka and timber. Plenty of quality to come in for these lads. All fresh for Sunday
Charles can you just give a brief explanation of the emotions of being in the stands during a NLD... I'm from South Africa and can't even imagine how truly intense it all is
Here’s a taster mate…the 3-1 win when ESR, Auba & Saka all scored in the 1st half. When the celebrations died down after Bukayo’s goal, I looked to my left expecting to see my mate. What I saw was a random bloke instead. I turned around and my mate was 2 rows back. So, yeah, somehow I’d fell 2 rows forward while celebrating that goal. Wonderful times 😂
Also from South Africa. I went to a NLD in 2007 and it’s like nothing else we are familiar with. The intensity of a rugby game at Ellis park but the hostility between fans is marked and it adds a desperation to the game. When you have fans that hate each other to the point of needing to be kept apart by police it adds a level of intensity you can’t explain but have to experience
@@kunimitsune177 I guess you someone that actually believe PSL soccer in our country is going forward. The day they actually level up the football IL start supporting local
@@charliejay1775 😭😂😂😂 This is the type of response I was hoping for😂 pure emotions😂.. And nobody cares that you probably fell ontop of them, because everyone surely lost it at that point😂🔥.. Thanks brother
No!!! It is a myth that he is better as a sub. 8 of his 12 league goals, last season, were scored when he started. Only 4 were scored as a sub!!! So this super sub myth is just NONSENSE!!! Remember Trossard, playing for Brighton, scored a hat-trick against Liverpool, at Anfield in 2022.
Charles, love watching you. Your views are intelligent and well thought out. Also at the end of the day you are a Gunners fan and feel the emotikns, good and bad, like the rest of us!
I will absolutely start Jesus on Thursday. We are forgetting how monstrous is Jesus in UCL games. I in fact like your team selection for this game. COYG
Saliba gets the headlines because he is the Rolls Rolls Royce but Gabriel is the Tank you call for when you’re at war and things get messy. Not always pretty but equally crucial.
Arsenal should extend contract for Saliba, Saka, Gabriel, Odegaard, White and Rice for 4/5 more years and add over 100 MP release clause on their contract. Yes for Thursday night Arteta should use bench players such as G.Jesus, Sterling, Calafiori, Kiwiour, Nwaneri and mix with Rice and others. Rest Saka, Havertz, Saliba, Timber to the weekend
Hi Charles, Personally, i would rest most of the squad, not as a disrespect to Atalanta, but because we have 8 ucl group games so losing one just doesnt matter. Especially when you take into account that Rodri hasn't started a premier league game yet and is seemingly being rested post euros specifically to prepare for this match. Great content as always mate Ash from Seattle.
Regarding the starting 11 for tomorrow night, I’m making 4 changes from the Spuds game. Kiwior for Timber, Jesus for Havertz as he looked exhausted from his work on Sunday, Sterling for Saka, Rice for Partey. By making those changes is the team that much weaker? You said that you wouldn’t start Ethan because it’s a big game, so was Spuds but he looked completely comfortable out there in the time he had so I wouldn’t be that surprised to see him start tomorrow
My only criticism of Arteta is how poorly he rotates the squad. It’s difficult but it’s doable. No reason why we have Sterling, Jesus, Calafiori, Kiwior and some decent kids but we don’t use them.
I believe, especially after the weekend, the the three players that are likely are replaceable are Raya, Saliba, and Gabriel. We have seen how, without Raya's control and calmness, matches have the ability to turn into basketball games. I think all of the other players Arsenal do have the ability to replace if they are gone for a few weeks. Not underplaying Odegaard or Rice but this team's bread and butter really is its back line.
I agree on Gabriel's contract, he's so good now, plays 90+ minutes of every match, scores crucial goals like at the weekend and is irreplaceable, he deserves to be rewarded with a better contract.
To be honest. If we lose against Atlanta. We have a good enough squad to win all our other games. So I would rest a lot of players for City. If we beat City then we have the advantage in the premier league.
I wish all our top players were underrated. That way they'll be left alone and won't have their heads turned. They might also miss the international games as well.
I think we should go with our strongest member both games for Atalanta and Mancity this week. Disagree with the opinion that we should rest some players because both teams we are facing is a hell difficult team to face. After the Mancity game, we still have games every 3~4 days but the opponents now change to Bolton or promoted Leicester City and Southampton. I think Mikel will surely rotate players during that period if players begins to return from injuries. If we finish the Atalanta game early(like 3-0 during the first half), there will also be chance to rotate players during the game. But at the moment, we don't have enough players to rotate or change as we have too many injuries. Many players missed most of the pre season due to either international competitions or injuries. As we have seen in the first 2~3 games, our game was not perfect. Players still seem to have some aftermath of the missed pre season and what's more urgent now is we need our best XI to have the maximum game time in order to recover and find the best form as soon as possible. We are only like 1 month into new season and it's kind of strange to see fans screaming Mikel already not rotating players and only using his preferred XI when we have so many difficult fixtures and injuries up our sleeves.
I like your predicted 11. I wonder if we can rotate a little more at the back if Zinny or Calafiori are fit enough. Also I do worry a little about starting Havertz and Jesus as I'd like to rest Kai's legs if possible, so would prefer a 60/30 split of minutes up top for these two and to start Ethan
I think we need to show a strong start to CL in case we get tripped up later on, hence I'm going fairly strong, with most of the game played in their half. After watching the last few Atalanta match highlights, they are dangerous with crosses and headers, also if we give them any space in our box, but they aren't that great at the back especially in their own box against tricky players, hence my thinking Arteta will use attack as the best form of defence. There's no way they could defend against Sterling, Jesus and Trossard. Havertz will just be in the right place to capitalise too. Rice or Partey could get a nice long shot again. Could be a big early lead then get the subs on. Atalanta line up I think Arteta will pick: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber, Sterling, Partey, Rice Jesus, Havertz, Trossard
i thought trossard was good in the situation given to him. a winger/10 who more often than not received the ball in really tough positions. he gave the ball away a few times, overplaying mostly, but some of his passing was very incisive and i thought it was very encouraging for other games where we actually plan to dominate the ball (while O is injured).
Like that eleven just would like to see kiwior at cb and rest one of the main, crazy we dont have a natural lb,don't know about starting injury prone jesus so quickly and we have to take a punt on one of the youngster I know most is hesitant but this is a squad last I am not content with two draws
Totally disagree with resting saka in absence of ordegaard. Same way I’d expect Haaland to play all city games this week. The season is just 4 games ffs.
Happiest of birthdays,Charles . I coach senior high school boys and girls soccer ⚽️ . We wear our team colors for training and matches ... but not yesterday. No sir ... Arsenal hat ,Jacket and training top . At 70 years old I am still a child after an Arsenal victory !
People are commenting to rest all these key players seem to forget this is the champions league, and an away game to the Europa league champions! They finished 4th in Serie A so they should be treated similarly to Aston Villa. There's no way we could rest players against Villa, so I wouldn't rest any more than 1 key player here either
I'm genuinely curious as to how any contract or even a transfer negotiation can take so long? You arrange a meeting and two parties are in a room. You are talking face to face for how long? 30mins? 1 hour? If you can't sort it out in an hour then maybe have another meeting the next day or the day after. Anyone got any insights into why these things roll on for months? Do they only meet once a month for 10 mins or something?
Arsenal have just released the team photo and I have place a football in front of MO’s foot. I have a theory that he couldn’t get his foot in a boot so they covered it up. They have never used the balls in previous years!! Maybe I’m over the top, but it’s a theory. Not good.
Hi Charles. Jakub Kiwior could (should) get a game as well. Whether he comes in for Timber or he deputizes for Gabriel. Unfortunately, I dont believe Saliba will get a rest. Hopefully, Tomi is back soon to take minutes off Ben White or Saliba. As ever, thank you for the great work!
I like to think that Arteta is finally learning. I feared he'd put Havertz in midfield against Spurs (as he did v Villa at the end of at season disastrous decision) but he didn't and we had a Havertz who worked his stuff but up top where there was no damage. No Havertz in midfield ..ever. Obviously Saka needs to stay especially given Sterling is ready to step up now. I'd rest Havertz for this one. Get Jesus back into the fray. We have enough to get by v Atalanta. Most important is to not let City win at the wkend and whatever selections that are needed to ensure that Arteta has to do make. I'd like to have a go at City but not getting beat there is the most important for me - keep the gap as small as possible. Let them know even now that we're in for the long haul.
@@danhouw7972 It's nice to be in the CL but for me that's for the future. The Premier League title is really everything for me. If we can get our hands on that and break City's 'invincibility' then we can possibly become a real 'force' in all trophies for years to come. If we field weaker sides/selections in the CL so be it. The biggest priority is the league title.
I think it's big boy time for Nwaneri. He was very good in pre season, and this is a European tie, so he will get more time on the ball. If Wilshere did it against Barcelona at 19, I've seen enough talent in the lad that he could do it at 17 against Atalanta.
Wilshire was literally a generational talent and the 'it' that he did was something that basically no senior player did to that opponent, let alone a teenager. Utterly incomparable and ridiculous to use that as a yardstick.
I agree big gabs has come along way but I still feel he’s got that big error at the wrong moment in him. Saliba makes his mistakes in the right area of the pitch at the right time.
