The Sword of Light, fittingly enough, also works great for either Kimberly for a bunch of free damage. Very funny if you bring both regular Kimberly and the Ranger Slayer, and get to do bonus damage at the start AND end of the battle.
This might be a hot take, but I'm honestly not a fan of the Arsenal cards at all. For me it removes a bit of the thematic element from the game with Rangers sudden getting equipment from different universes that have nothing to do with them. Even worse, you have to discard your own thematic cards to gain them. From a gameplay perspective, it adds a ton of replayability, and if this were introduced in GI Joe Mission Critical, I would love it since it's completely thematic for them to share equipment with each other. It just seems weird to me to see the Samurai Rangers' Black Box being randomly used by every other Ranger in the Grid.
I don’t think it’s a hot take at all, I think that’s a real valid point. The one thing I always enjoyed is seeing how a team functioned as a whole, using all their own powers and abilities in the game. It kept them unique and interesting. The Arsenal pack does make it now that literally ANY hero can use powers from a different team. Including Joes! I’ve also played 2 games so far using the Arsenal cards, and I have to say where they are a LOT of fun and add even more replay value to the game, they do make some encounters very easy. I’m still probably going to use them in the majority of my games because I like them, but I can see the other side as well. Thank you!
I hear that, I’m setting a game up now with the 6 HyperForce rangers, so I’m gonna go through the 20 cards and see which make the most sense. If it ends up just being the Pink Battleizer, then I might just unlock that half way through the game. Thankfully, it’s a little easier to use any of the 20 with time travel-themed seasons.
Thunder Slinger is probably best paired with a Blade Blaster. Spend 5 energy for the standard 5 damage, plus roll 5 dice to add even more damage; all the damage can then be spread as you want. Rather fitting use, huh?
I mean you still need to adhere to GUARD, but yes, 100% fitting! I think they only used them once or twice in the series, so cool to see them pop up here.
I use the Fantasy Flight tarot card sized sleeves. They come 50 in a pack, so 2 packs last me awhile. Well, it did until this set that has like 30 tarot sized cards in it 😅 I need a restock.
@@homegamerdad Oh no I meant your shelving for the games behind you sorry! It is a shame Fantasy Flight stopped producing sleeves though. I started getting GameGen!c which feel similar in quality if you ever need to switch to a new brand.
In hyperforce. Actually Chloe wasn't only one. Technically Vesper got on for a hot second. They got ahold of Sentinel knight sword. And since Vesper is a Android. She got use it for one fight
@@homegamerdad Actually nobody gets an extra die. Tommy would have to be in the battle, and it only applies to Rangers in that battle. Since none of the Rangers in that battle are alone, nobody gets an extra die. edit: Oops. I missed where you said SOLO mode. That changes things. Without that, this wouldn't work.
lol yeah, I often go right to “how would this work in solo mode” as that’s the main way I play. And in solo mode, that wording for Loner is PERFECT for the sword of light and giving Tommy’s ability to the other two rangers in battle.
Major respect for Green Ranger Matt Cook! I honestly had no idea who he was until recently. Getting my research in before he inevitably enters the game.
@@homegamerdad The Boom Comics hit a homerun with that character - and really their whole run. He has a really fun and great dynamic with the rest of the squad, is a layered character w intriguing storytelling, and just a great idea in general 🐲 Can't wait for that character card to drop!
To give you that extra power should you need an additional round after the boss is revealed. Remember, the game can go past the 4th deployment, it’s actually infinite until either the loose or win conditions are met. Those last two are there to give the rangers one last edge to finishing things off.
@@homegamerdad ahh makes sense. Regarding the discounting, lets say for some reason a ranger decides to use a recover action when there discard pile has a total of only 2 shields. Would you be able to discount 4 to arsenals?
Absolutely. A Recover is always (well… usually, depending on other skills) 6 Shields worth of recovery. Declare you’re only using 2, then use the other 4 to reduce the cost of the Arsenal cards in play.
