Printed in 800 copies, only 40 left. No reprint.
Hard cover book
160 pages
This book contains a collection of drawings, studies and fine art paintings I have done in time period 2014. - 2018. , all related to tattoo subjects. As a tattooer it’s been a passion for me to draw in my free time, and it’s really interesting to see the development of my own capabilities. In this book you can notice that some of my older work has more of a neotraditional feel, with realistic subject matter. I’ve been painting this way for about a decade, and only in the last couple of years I’ve started to do more monochrome and contrasting images, with more defined subjects and with a traditional look. Before that it was all about colours for me. I still have some colour work in this book. But in the recent time period, I’ve been exploring new techniques of how to create a contrasting image using only black ink. Most of the drawings have been done with the purpose of being in this book.
The subject matter is mainly based on folk art of different cultures, for example, Latvian mythology or Eastern folk tales. There’s also some religious imagery and a lot of different animals and flowers. Most of the subject matter is pretty dark, whether it’s the look of it or the meaning behind it. A lot of the subject positions and compositions are based on vintage illustrations.
This book also contains relevant commentary with thoughts, inspirations, subject descriptions and meanings and so on. But keep in mind that many descriptions of subjects are very simplified and do not cover the whole story. I encourage you to do your own research to find out more.
A lot of the drawings have been done as tattoos. Please respect the artwork and use it only as a reference to create your own designs.
At the end of the book I have also added a painting tutorial with descriptions of things and techniques I use for my paintings.

Absolutely love-love-love your creativity. Linocut and wood blocking have been around for many-many years. How I admire old fashioned fairytales like Hans Christian Anderson, & the good old French fairytale books etc...with good Linocut prints I also love good Japanese wood block print too. As my brother-in-law buys me a beautiful full length Japanese wood block print calendar every year for my birthday for over twenty years. What I love best.....you dabble and mingle in all forms of Lino & wood, but you go to all extremes to allow yourself to be you. Express you. Be you. Feel you. That is what is important. As you make people happy in many categories you also get to vent and meditate to express you, and so many people love this type of art and don’t get to experience it in great forms like you are allowing others to do. You are very talented with your tools and your print work heavenly. I started Linocut in the seventies and just started up again...must admit I love it, missed it, it was like riding a bike but the only difference was I did a lot of research and was fully prepared. I am truly sorry I stopped for twenty years. The only difference my work is on a smaller scale lol and I started back out on this spongy pieces. Well, spongy they are, but I think they stink. I couldn’t get those sharp define lines I was use too.....but now I’m back on track and happy. (I have fought Lupus for 20 years and now I’m in remission hoping it stays this way. Lupus has destroyed most joints, limbs, bones, & organs but I am trying to regain my life back with my family, children & hobbies) I wish you the very best and hope when your 60 your still going strong, healthy, telling great stories and doing great demos with questions & comments. May you have a easy life. Blessed be

Hey Emil, I just wanted to ask what you would charge to design tattoos? Like if it's an hourly rate or if you charge for the size etc. And is there somewhere specifically you'd prefer to be contacted for that kind of stuff, if you even do commissions and such I mean. Love your work, thank you for sharing it with us! Cheers!
